The problem with "best teams," whether its building one from scratch or this "if they were in their prime" is that each player in their prime plays differently than they did when on that team out of their prime. Do you really think you can have so many ball dominant players on one team? In reality, no. Big players come with big personalities.
Johnny, I believe you should do the 2K grind. Yes it is a saturated market but no one thinks like you do compared to everyone else in this content world to see your insight and how you would change things be very helpful and honestly make a difference and could lead to successful coaches in the future by learning from all these other 2K leagues.
I like seeing how wrong 2k gets it. Like when you draft a player that the computer creates who is rated 72 and he's a monster off of the bench, but Joe Dumars is rated 85. averaging 6 points and one steal as a starter, and shooting 15 percent from 3.
Very interesting exercise. I would have the '85-'86 Celtics and '71-'72 Lakers higher on the list. That Celtics team with a young and healthy Bill Walton would be unbelievable, and that Lakers squad with a younger Baylor, Chamberlain and West would be hard for anybody to top. It also would be interesting to see a much younger Oscar Robertson teamed with Lew Alcindor/Kareem in his prime. And finally, a young Robert Parish would indeed lift that Bulls team to even greater heights.
Here are some teams: 07-08 Rockets with prime Francis, T-Mac, Artest, Dikembe, and Yao Ming, with Battier, Rafer Alston, Bobby jackson and few other role players off the bench 09-10 Magic (aka the new lob city) With prime White Chocolate, JJ Reddick, Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis, and DH12, with Jameer Nelson, Gortat, Ryan Anderson, and Matt Barnes off the bench 2019 Mavs with Prime Jalen Brunson, Luka, Harrison Barnes, Dirk, and Deandre Jordan, with Tim Hardaway Jr, Courtney Lee, Finney-Smith, Wesley Matthews, and Trey Burke off the bench
@@TheChosenMoose01 2003-06 Knicks, late 2000s suns, 2003-2005 spurs with glen robinson, Nick Van exel, Micheal Finley and MVP Robinson, 2008-09 Celtics with prime Marbury
Every team I thought of when I saw this video made your list! The Chicago Bulls with Robert Parrish were the first team I thought of then the 2003-2004 Lakers.
I just realized who the hell did he have replacing Alonzo mourning as PF? I get it, Shaq replaced him at center, but there's no way any other player he named on the heat would start over a prime AM, so he'd just start a PF.🤔
I think you could include the current Nuggets in there too. Peak Russ and Deandre Jordan with current Jokic and 2023 playoff Jamal??? Plus good depth with Gordon, MPJ, Saric when he was good and the young guys too??
What are the teams I think deserve a mention is the 2012 and 13 New York Knicks. Where they would have a prime Jason Kidd, Amar'e Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace Marcus Camby, and Kenyon Martin
Prime Dr. J, Moses, AND Barkley plus Maurice cheeks and Andrew toney is terrifying. Moses is underrated and Toney before his injuries was a playoff demon. Completely overpowered both defensively and offensively.
Interesting video but a lot of times, players appear washed because they have to take on reduced roles for the benefit of the team, and a lot of these teams would implode if everyone was in their prime because of player ego. For example, people forget how good westbrook was in dc right before he joined the lakers
I think Ron Harper would be one of the biggest improvements to that team. Having him full athletic prime, being a 22+ppg scorer to help much more of the scoring load, yeah that’s not fair😂He was a dawg then
Bulls would also have Bison Dele or Brian Williams as he was known at the time, decent post player coming off the bench. That’s a great versatile 8 man rotation for the playoffs
I like the new editing style, but i prefer the one before since it suits your voice & storytelling style more in my opinion. Nevertheless i really enjoyed the video, just wanted to leave an honest comment.
1996-97 Rockets look pretty good too Here is the full roster for the 1996-1997 Houston Rockets: 1. Hakeem Olajuwon (Center) 2. Charles Barkley (Forward) 3. Clyde Drexler (Guard/Forward) 4. Matt Maloney (Guard) 5. Mario Elie (Guard/Forward) 6. Kevin Willis (Forward/Center) 7. Brent Price (Guard) 8. Sam Mack (Guard/Forward) 9. Eddie Johnson (Forward)
Maybe not good enough for the list but the 20-21 nets would be on it for me. Starting five of kyrie, harden, KD, griffin, and deandre with Lamarcus aldridge and a 20ppg Spencer Dinwiddie off the bench
Jonny you should do this exact same thing but with ALL TIME TEAMS, meaning the best players to ever play for the franchise on one team, all in their PRIME. For example the all time bulls would have prime rose, Jordan, pippen, Rodman, Gilmore….The all time lakers would have prime magic, Kobe, Shaq, west, Baylor, Kareem, lebron and others all on one roster. Please consider it Jonny that would be INSANE!!
I think Lakers will win easily. In the all time top ten players 6 plays for the Lakers Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Shaq LeBron, Mikan, West, Baylor, Worthy Payton, Malone, Davis, Howard, Melo, Westbrook Etc etc
Goes to show that certain players required having stacked rosters of MVP/perennial all-stars (whether near or off their primes) in order to compete (LePEDs, Lakers, Celtics), while others (Jokic, Stockton) simply never played with such depth. A top-ten team would be the 99-00 Jailblazers, featuring a legendary version of Sabonis at center, peak Rasheed at PF, top-form Schrempf at SF, MVP-contender Pippen at SG, and prime Mighty Mouse at PG with Jermaine to play alongside Sabonis or man the center and Steve Smith as a backup for Pippen! With O'Neal, Wallace, Schrempf, Pippen, and Smith all able to play multiple positions, it would be the ultimate fluid lineup with a player (Kerr) who would later repopularize the concept. The 2011 Mavs could get an honorable mention via prime Kidd, Peja, and Caron as well as one of the most underrated 2-way stars in Shawn Marion. The best form of Kidd, Caron/Peja, Marion, Dirk, and Chandler could make the top-20.
I'd like a simulation of these teams. I think I have a 2knba game from my psplus. It'd be nice for full videos and maybe shorts for highlights of the game.
I'd throw in one of the 60's Celtics Teams just to be complete. Either the 8 HOFs on the 66-67 version, or the 9 HOFs on the 62-63 team with 3 top 75 players.
I think the 02-03 Spurs could be a scary team too. Just thinking about David Robinson and Tim Duncan both in their prime, I mean Robinson was good when Duncan came in but imagine MVP Admiral with MVP Duncan. Then of course you'd have Parker and Manu. Kevin Willis, Stephen Jackson and Steve Smith could each be good for around 20 a game. You'd have a prime Bruce Bowen locking people down. Hell they already won the title with quite a few of those guys past their primes, or before their primes, imagine if they were in their primes.
2003 Spurs deserves a mention because that would be the 2007 Spurs with Prime David Robinson, Steve Smiths, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Willis and Steve Kerr
Never thought that a Bulls Team would make the list. But a prime Parish, Rodman, and Pippen would be a great help to His Airness. I thought the Kobe, Shaq, Malone and Payton would be the number 1 😁
I disagree about Rodman. In his prime he was statistically better, but he was also more normal. Dennis the menace from his later years is where he really caused problems for others. He gave more troubles to Shaq with his mind games than defence.
Nice video, but I think you forgot that Derek Harper was on the 1999 Lakers, so he would be starting over Fisher, plus how could Rice, Jones, and Campbell be on the same team, but were traded for each other during the 1999 lockout season? Just like for the 2013 Spurs, Jackson was waived to bring in McGrady, so how would they be on the same team at the same time. For me, I would have Payton, Wade, Walker, Mourning, and Shaq in the starting five for the 2007 Heat. I would also have Wade, Ray, LeBron, Rashard Lewis, and Chris Bosh in the starting five for the 2013 Heat. Good video either way. You also forgot that Bryon Russell was on the 2004 Lakers.
I didn't expected the bulls to be #1. The question is when did Kerr and Kukoc reach their prime ? For Kukoc, I think he never reach his peak because he came to the NBA and started to bulk up too late.
2015 2016 spurs would be crazy with the likes of Parker, Manu, Kawhi, Aldridge and Duncan. Off the bench you'd have Kevin Martin, David West and Andre miller in their prime

My head went straight to those 95-96 bull team. Having a legit center in Parrish would be insane
Here are some teams:
07-08 Rockets with prime Francis, T-Mac, Artest, Dikembe, and Yao Ming, with Battier, Rafer Alston, Bobby jackson and few other role players off the bench
09-10 Magic (aka the new lob city) With prime White Chocolate, JJ Reddick, Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis, and DH12, with Jameer Nelson, Gortat, Ryan Anderson, and Matt Barnes off the bench
2019 Mavs with Prime Jalen Brunson, Luka, Harrison Barnes, Dirk, and Deandre Jordan, with Tim Hardaway Jr, Courtney Lee, Finney-Smith, Wesley Matthews, and Trey Burke off the bench
Good choices
@@davidschmidt1793 appreciate it
Bro said 2019 Mavs lmao there are so many better teams
@@MadPaperMario Big 3 of prime Dirk, Luka, and Brunson is insane. If you have better teams, list them instead of making critiques of my picks.
The Chicago Bulls with Robert Parrish were the first team I thought of then the 2003-2004 Lakers.
the 21-22 Lakers would be a beast. Too low at #15....Great Video!!!
Crazy how many times Shaq pops up to make a team one of the best ever. Dominance personified.
true but also somebody who switched teams a lot after the prime of his career :) otherwise you just don't pop up several times in the list.
The greatest what if list of all time. ❤
Great idea for a video!
Great list!
Who else thought the 2017 warriors would still be on here? lol
I just realized who the hell did he have replacing Alonzo mourning as PF? I get it, Shaq replaced him at center, but there's no way any other player he named on the heat would start over a prime AM, so he'd just start a PF.🤔
Great Channel👏👏👏
Great vid. I think the 86 76ers might be the best of them all. Would love to see that 2K sim.
The 97 bulls with Parish and the 04 Lakers with Malone and Payton were the first two teams I thought of. Excellent list.
2015-16 clippers were crazy, chris paul, paul pierce, blake griffin, deandre jordan, jamal crawford, lance stephenson, jj redick and josh smith
YES!! Do the Simulation!!
I think you could include the current Nuggets in there too. Peak Russ and Deandre Jordan with current Jokic and 2023 playoff Jamal??? Plus good depth with Gordon, MPJ, Saric when he was good and the young guys too??
would love to see you do a 2k simulation. would be the best 2k sim channel on youtube instantly 😂
First view for my main man Jonny!
Nope!
Great video
I like the concept.
I would love a video on great players that got a ring only after their prime and when they were a role player
What are the teams I think deserve a mention is the 2012 and 13 New York Knicks. Where they would have a prime Jason Kidd, Amar'e Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace Marcus Camby, and Kenyon Martin
dont forget Melo, JR Smith & Wilson Chandler
👍Great hypothetical video Jonny....but it 80's Lakers in this debate.
Hell yeah 👍 let’s get that 2k fired up 🎉
i love how a lot of these are just some of the greatest teams ever with everyone in their prime
This archibald - maravich - bird combo scared me....
That’s a great versatile 8 man rotation for the playoffs
cool idea for a tournament
u got to do some 2k simulations bro those would be fire
Did u ever do the all time teams 2k thing? I’m still waiting for it
I like the new editing style, but i prefer the one before since it suits your voice & storytelling style more in my opinion. Nevertheless i really enjoyed the video, just wanted to leave an honest comment.
1996-97 Rockets look pretty good too
Here is the full roster for the 1996-1997 Houston Rockets:
1. Hakeem Olajuwon (Center)
2. Charles Barkley (Forward)
3. Clyde Drexler (Guard/Forward)
4. Matt Maloney (Guard)
5. Mario Elie (Guard/Forward)
6. Kevin Willis (Forward/Center)
7. Brent Price (Guard)
8. Sam Mack (Guard/Forward)
9. Eddie Johnson (Forward)
Maybe not good enough for the list but the 20-21 nets would be on it for me. Starting five of kyrie, harden, KD, griffin, and deandre with Lamarcus aldridge and a 20ppg Spencer Dinwiddie off the bench
You had me at Mario Chalmers
Jonny you should do this exact same thing but with ALL TIME TEAMS, meaning the best players to ever play for the franchise on one team, all in their PRIME. For example the all time bulls would have prime rose, Jordan, pippen, Rodman, Gilmore….The all time lakers would have prime magic, Kobe, Shaq, west, Baylor, Kareem, lebron and others all on one roster. Please consider it Jonny that would be INSANE!!
I think Lakers will win easily. In the all time top ten players 6 plays for the Lakers
Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Shaq
LeBron, Mikan, West, Baylor, Worthy
Payton, Malone,
Davis, Howard, Melo, Westbrook
Etc etc
The Celtics with Bird and Russell would be ridiculous.
I believe he did a series of all time teams a while back which featured every franchise
he didn't do a list of the teams' hypothetical matchups though, just the lineups in isolation
Love this!
The prime Magic could cause some upsets - Penny, TMac, Hill, Wilkins, Kemp, Ewing, Shaq and Dwight.
Fun video!
When will the ultimate teams simulation come out?
Andrew Toney shoutout, you should make a video about him Jonny
Would really like that 2K simulation
I would have also mentioned Scott Wedman in his all-star days in the 85-86 Celtics.
I'd like a simulation of these teams. I think I have a 2knba game from my psplus. It'd be nice for full videos and maybe shorts for highlights of the game.
Here before dah haters🗣️
I actually tried to do this in 2k one time...where I made teams and tried to make the players as if they were in their prime
I like the Suns 2008
Nash
J-Rich
Grant Hill
Stoudemire
Shaq
2020 lakers would be extremely tuff
Playoff simulation would be lit
What website do you use for your stats? I’d love to use it to
I love your list. Warriors should be number 1, Chicago 2, and I think Hakeem's Houston team needs to be on the list somewhere.
