I recommend reacting to Revelations. Bruce wrote that one entirely himself, and it showcases his voice very well. It similarly has a wide dynamic range.
In answer to your question, Ken Yes, there was a different lead vocalist before Bruce Dickinson, in fact that original vocalist was credited with writing this song, Paul Di'Anno

Official recordings is a sensible place to do so, and those begin with the Soundhouse Tapes EP from 1979, when the band already had Paul (though they also had Doug Samson on drums).
You should do the original with Paul singing. They have a great live video from 1980 with Phantom of the opera and a few others with Paul. There are a lot of Maiden fans that hold those first 2 albums close to their heart.
This is a brilliant version of this song, but the one at Rock Am Ring on the same tour is even better, especially that note at 4:46. Hopefully you'll do The Talisman from En Vivo as well, that's widely regarded as one of Bruce's best performances.

As for Paul DiAnno until 1981..great singer just more raw/punk which Is great too. Regardless… Up The Irons
Just to fill you in on a bit of maiden vocalist history, the original singer when they released there 1st album "Iron Maiden" in 1980 and 2nd Album "Killers" in 1981 was Paul DiAnno, at the time Bruce (real name Paul Bruce Dickinson) was vocalist in a band called samson who had hits like "Riding with the angels" while in Samson he was known as Bruce Bruce and he had caught the attention of Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood, the band were not really happy with paul Dianno as they thought his vocal style was too close to Blues and Punk, as Samson had dispanded Rod arranged a meeting with bruce and the boys and Bruce was hired before Dianno was even told he was going, Bruce toured with the Band as the new vocalist to introduce him to the fans a CD of that concert called "Beast over Hammersmith" was 1 of 3 CD's in the Eddies Archive collectors chest, Bruce first appeared on Maidens 3rd Album "The Number of the Beast" in 1982, by 1994 Bruce was getting tired of the constant half a year tours and wanting to do more solo albums left the band. Maiden Put out a couple of live recordings; "A real Live One" and "A Real Dead One" which later became the double album "A Real Live Dead One" while they rehearsed and reviewed a replacement for Bruce; they finally chose Blaze Bailey who was free having been the vocalist from the then recently disbanded band Wolfsbane. Blaze appeared on Maiden's 10th Album "The X Factor" 1995 and 11th "Virtual XI" 1998 as well as the single "Virus" which never went to album and was part of the "Best of the Beast" compilation album. I don't know the circumstances around Baileys Departure but he left the band in 1999 for the return of Bruce Dickinson along with former guitarist Adrian Smith who had left around 1989 and been replaced by Janick Gers ; this made Iron Maiden a 6 man band ; Bruce's first appearance since his return was on "Brave New World" in 2000 and has remained to the present, hopefully he will be as active as ever in coming shows as he has just had a new titanium hip fitted and seems raring to go.
But also, Paul was a big drinker. He was becoming problematic to write and tour with. Clive Burr was a similar case. The two had to be phased out, unfortunately for some fans.
To elaborate on that more though, Paul had been doing cocaine on top of everything. Clive and Steve argued a lot. It was hard for everyone to get along. It was even hard for Bruce to get along with the band in the '80s and '90s. There were a few times where he almost quit. His solo career was a good enough reason to part with the band for a time, with a proper sendoff. It's fortunate that they reunited after Blaze, though. Things have been great ever since.
Cool, didn't expect that. I was there. Was an awesome evening. Edit: Fun fact: The show was aired in its entirety live on Swedish public service national TV.
Very rarely does Dickinson close his eyes and stay stationary. This is one track. Where Eagles Dare from the same show is another. Easily the most impressive is when he did it for The Talisman on the En Vivo DVD (at age 53 or 54). A top 5 Maiden track, and a top 5 Maiden live performance. Not sure any other singer in rock history, at that age, could pull that off, Dio And Gillan included.
Their most complex album is Seventh son of a Seventh son and almost any song from there is one from their greatest moments. Also Tears of the dragon from Bruce's solo career. I recommend reacting to songs from their first two albums, with singer Paul Dianno. Different sound, a bit more punky. They are very good also. Those are the songs that got them noticed and got them their first recording contract. And the rest is history.
Have you listened to Paul Di'anno sing on the early albums? Would be interested to see a double view of the same song. Paul was much closer to punk. Then more recent (late 90s) with the Blaze Bailey years. Not as great a vocalist range wise.
I first saw Maiden in about 1981 with Paul Di'Anno on vocals. He was great - totally different from Bruce Dickinson - with a very small range but lots of energy and a really good tone. I think Dickinson fitted the band's musical ambitions (and Dickinson himself wanted to be in the best NWOBHM band). That, coupled with Di'Anno's excess-all-areas habits, led inevitably to what Maiden became. This is a great song from their debut album.

I suggest you check one of the bands that will open the Iron Maiden concert: LORD OF THE LOST. The singer has a great voice!! Black Halo or Loreley should do the trick (I love Voodoo Dool, but the video is quite bloody...).
Some are always going to prefer the original vocalist version but for me, 2005 performances by Bruce of this song are unbeatable, he is so on point. I do also love Di'Anno and agree that some songs from that era suit him better but Bruce really nails this one
Talking about high notes. Then you should really listen to Deep Purples song Child in Time. Preferably Made in Japan (1972) version( there's actually no live video recording for this) or the live TV studio version from 1970.
I was at that concert and I have to agree, there aren’t any better live performer around. Commanding the stage and being a true entertainer are Bruce’s real strengths.
Back in the early 90s, Bruce was kicked out of the band (this was around '92-'93 or so) and they advertised for singers to send in recordings in the magazine called Kerrang! I applied, back then they were my favourite band. They eventually hired a guy called Blaze Bailey, singer from Wolfsbane. I was about as much of a not a fan of him as anyone could be, so I was pretty upset they hired him and stuck the middle finger up to everyone who applied.
Always interesting your comments Mr Lavigne. If you like singer with operatic voice style like Bruce Dickinson, why don’t you react for Ronnie James Dio songs, the master of this genre. Try Stargazer from Rainbow, THE classic.
You should react to Paul Di'Anno's version not as great as Bruce but great non the less! And please try to react to something of Blaze Bayley, the guy that had the big balls to be in Iron Maiden during Bruce hiatus, again not as great as Bruce but not bad at all!
@@jillhobbs5334 they end the band in 2007 but still do concerts now and then to this day and Blaze still is the singer to my knowledge, but I may be wrong!
I actually like the Paul version more. Paul singing his own stuff has a different feeling but its great. Theres a live performance fron like 80-81 with Paul and its amazing.

I was at that concert and I have to agree, there aren’t any better live performer around. Commanding the stage and being a true entertainer are Bruce’s real strengths.
No one has stage presence like Bruce. Seen maiden seven times and every time is the best party you could ever have
Interesting, perhaps you should now listen to the original and compare Paul Dianno’s album version to this.
Also, it was from 2005! :)
please, listen children of the damned!!
up the irons
You should react to Paul Di'Anno's version not as great as Bruce but great non the less!
And please try to react to something of Blaze Bayley, the guy that had the big balls to be in Iron Maiden during Bruce hiatus, again not as great as Bruce but not bad at all!
What happened to Wolfsbane after Blaze left?
@@jillhobbs5334 they end the band in 2007 but still do concerts now and then to this day and Blaze still is the singer to my knowledge, but I may be wrong!
I thought Blaze was a fresh sound to Maiden Lighting Strikes Twice Futureal
@@mondodaftasabrush Bruce is amazing, but Blaze and Di'Anno are great as well and I enjoy them as well and think they don't get enough notice!
I actually like the Paul version more. Paul singing his own stuff has a different feeling but its great. Theres a live performance fron like 80-81 with Paul and its amazing.
I love Iron Maiden since they were invited for being the Ramp for Kiss. *kind of a laughter today... and I love Bruce "air siren" Dickinson. But the first two albums stick to Lead singer Paul DiAnno. ua-cam.com/video/afBRj58PYSI/v-deo.html And you sure should do something with this mad singer, too. ^^ I recommend: "Phantom of the opera"
React to "What if Bruce Dickinson sang for DIO?! - Rainbow in The Dark". Please!!! ^^
This video is amazing!
Oh... Is that Raphael Mendez? I think that's his name. Brazilian guy who does Bruce impression/covers?
My god that guy is great!
@@bosunbones.8815 Yes, it's him, Raphael Mendes. His covers with the voice of Bruce Dickinson are impressive. ^^
Please react to KOJI TAMAKI - IKANAIDE (ORIGINAL SONG). You won't regret reacting it, trust me!
