Please please react to Iron Maiden's Talisman. The live one. One can tell that the song is really difficult from the fact that he is not going up and down the stage.
you HAVE to do "The Talisman" live at En Vivo! next. its on "The Final Frontier" album in 2010. its an incredible song. personally my favorite song out of any song that came out since bruce came back in 2000 for the "Brave New World" album
The song 'For The Greater Good Of God' in my opinion has the most beautiful vocal perfomance from the 'newer' Maiden albums. It would be awesome if you reacted to it.
The story behind the narration on Eternity is the song was meant for Bruce's next solo project. Bruce had starting working on a solo concept album, but the rest of Maiden decided to record a new album and Bruce pitched a few of his songs for it. Eternity was one of them, and supposedly Steve Harris thought it was perfect, and when Bruce asked about the narration (because it's the only point in the album it appears), Steve just said "It talks about souls so it's perfect!"
One of the few bands who after 40 plus years of music can open a show with a brand new song and it fits perfectly with the rest of their set, simply amazing.
About the Necropolis question, it takes the song back to its origin. It was a song Bruce wrote for a possible new solo work. And it would be a concept album, with a good guy, Professor Lazarus, and a villain, Dr. Necropolis. But when he wrote that, he thought it would also fit the 'in development' new Iron Maiden album at the time. He showed it to Steve Harris, and Steve asked if they could use the song, and Bruce agreed. He also asked about the last part, because it wouldn't fit the album, but Steve said it was about souls and would fit, so they kept it. It started as the first track of a Bruce's album (from which we have heard nothing more since it wasn't recorded to this moment) and ended up as the inicial track from Book of Souls.
@@firefox3187 I know. But I decided not to speak about it since 90% of the other comments were already about it, and because the Necropolis question doesn't involve directly the cancer matter

@@neil.HobbyPositive Bruce definitely had a lot more power during the Powerslave tour. He was extremely tired during the few shows they did at Long Beach, but if you listen to all of the bootlegs from other shows, Bruce sounded absolutely killer. Not saying he wasn't good during the Book of Souls tour, but I think people make him better than he was. Bruce sounded great on The Book of Souls tour, but you can hear how he had to use a different technique on the high notes, which made the tones more sharp and not as clear. Sometimes he was able to do things like classic Bruce, but he needs to adjust a lot now, applying that sharper tone to his voice. He does it even more now on Legacy of the Beast. Sometimes it sounds good, but I prefer his clear high notes during The Final Fronier. He still sounds amazing though - His chest voice has a lot of strength 🙏
I genuinely don’t understand why people say his voice is as good now as it was even 10 years ago. He’s 62 and the recent live album clearly shows that both age and illness have impacted his voice. There’s nothing wrong with saying his voice has aged, it’s not bad it just different. There are some songs he shouldn’t still be singing and there are some he can still belt out. He’s still got buckets of talent but there’s no denying it’s changed.
I was there, the weather was horrendous, but their performance was worth it. Also seeing the Ed Force One 747 at East Midlands Airport was a fantastic sight.
Know nothing about singing but a fairly hardcore Maiden fan whose seen them live about 15 times with Dickinson. Would be interesting to hear a review of his voice post-surgery on the tour for this album or subsequent Legacy of the Beast tour. Was fortunate to see them on last date of European tour at the O2 in Aug. 2018, about 20-25 feet from the stage on the floor. Was expecting good from Bruce but was blown away by his voice quality that night, 3 days after turning 60. Thought he sounded better than I've ever heard, albeit different from aging. Saw them again 1 year later in the U.S. Same thing. Incredible vocal performance. Would be interested to hear how a pro hears it.
I went to that show too, fantastic performance. I feel his voice sounds better now than it did 10 years ago. It’s almost like having the cancer and subsequent treatment was a blessing in disguise because he felt the need to do some retraining on his voice, and it sounds like he has definitely benefited from it. Rob Halford proved on Judas Priest’s latest album that even in their ‘twilight years’, singers can still reach deep into their voices to find notes they were hitting in their peak years (he was hitting notes on Firepower that were almost as high some he hit on Screaming For Vengeance, albums that are 35 years apart!) Side note: I saw Maiden at Download 2013, they had a Spitfire fly over the park, I said afterwards I wouldn’t be surprised if sometime in the future they have a model Spitfire fly over the stage... 5 years later they had a model Spitfire ‘flying’ over the stage! I guess I know them too well at this point 😂

When I´m listening these newer records of Maiden, I just have to remember the years and decades passed since I started listening to them. Bruce 2015 is very different from Bruce 1983, which I think was his best year, Piece Of Mind is by far the best record he has ever sung, crystal clear and ear piercing performance with flawless pronunciation. How about studio version of Flight Of Icarus, there is the best high scream at the end of the song, ever. The original video even shows Bruce during that scream in the studio, precious stuff. Yes, Bruce 2015 is still good and listeanable, but has nothing to do with the younger version, man and his voice are getting older hand in hand, but with style. My favourite singer for almost 40 years along Ronnie James Dio.
This song was initially recorded as a Bruce solo song, he brought it to them, they decided to re-record it as a Maiden song. I'm sure Caveman mixed and recorded it differently that Roy Z or such would have. Would like to hear the original. I tend to like Bruce's solo work as well or better than his second tenure in Maiden. Kevin is not my favorite producer. He doesn't suck but his stuff is pretty dry. Either way, Bruce would have done a great job. I think it's good to hear the younger and the more contemporary songs from Bruce, he's really become a better singer as he's gotten older, better breath control, etc. Thanks for the great reaction.
If you are looking for different, try Paschendale by them. Of course you are going to get the tried and true parts. But this has keyboards, strings and horns. Also, there is a special intro that most do not know about or realize, Nicko does Morris Code with his high hats.
Hello, you should really check out Elize Ryd, she is a singer from The band Amaranthe and I would say she has The best voice in Sweden, she was helping nightwish Out once and sang The song Nemo live with them and after that they loved her so much so they recorded a new version on The song Nemo with her as a singer
I highly recomend to listen to WhoCares "Out Of My Mind" and/or "Holy Water". Legends are proving there that age doesn't matter when it comes to Rock or Metal.
Funny you should mention the vocal being a bit in the back of the mix. Until today, I had only listened to the album on my headphone (decent ones) and I agree with you. Watching you video today at my desk which has speakers setup similar to studio monitors (at ear level, 3 feet away), the vocals are definitely much more forward. I guess the sound engineer never did a full listen on headphones, which they all really should in this day and age.

I hope they will and hope you like it. It‘s Måneskin with „Zitti E Buoni“. You find the live performances from Eurovision here on UA-cam.

Something a little different! I would suggest a reaction to Sean Bonniwell's "Dark White" Sean was the lead singer from the Music Machine in the 60s. This is an amazing vocal performance and incredible song that was sort overlooked during it's time. They were on the top of the charts for another song they did (Talk, Talk) but this is their best in view. And he was my 2nd second cousin :) @
'Infinite Dreams' live from Birmingham in 1988! I believe this showcases Iron Maiden at their absolute peak, in terms or progression and creativity. There was SO much going on musically, and Bruce belted out the opera like there was no tomorrow. It was amazing, and also marked the end of the classic Maiden era of the 80s. Try "Empire of the Clouds", amazing track from this album, the longest of Iron Maiden's career
It has to be The Talisman from there En vivo dvd Bruce at his best,i highly recommend this song,AWESOME
22 Acacia Avenue and Children of the Damned 1982.
This song was the Set opener for the book of souls tour. Check out the live video for full context
Glad you said what I was thinking at first...very in-Iron Maidenesque...but then there they were. Not my favorite if there’s, but not bad.
If you are looking for different, try Paschendale by them. Of course you are going to get the tried and true parts. But this has keyboards, strings and horns. Also, there is a special intro that most do not know about or realize, Nicko does Morris Code with his high hats.
If you’re on this album, you have to do Empire of the Clouds!
Definitely my favorite song from Book of Souls
Intro reminds me Ennio Morricone's The Lonely Shepherd. Very atmospheric song in whole.
BRUCE DID HAVE THROAT CANCER AT TIME OF RECORDING,WHAT A MAN
I highly recomend to listen to WhoCares "Out Of My Mind" and/or "Holy Water". Legends are proving there that age doesn't matter when it comes to Rock or Metal.
Empire of the Clouds would be another good one from this album
Funny you should mention the vocal being a bit in the back of the mix. Until today, I had only listened to the album on my headphone (decent ones) and I agree with you. Watching you video today at my desk which has speakers setup similar to studio monitors (at ear level, 3 feet away), the vocals are definitely much more forward. I guess the sound engineer never did a full listen on headphones, which they all really should in this day and age.
Very interesting comments Mr Lavigne. We’re waiting for your comments and analysis of the great Ronnie James Dio. Don’t resist, please.
Listen to Fear of the Dark from Rio 2001! Really powerful live performance!
Caught Somewhere In Time by them 🤘🤘🤟🏼🤘🤟🏼🤘🤟🏼🤘🤟🏼🤟🏼🤘🤘
React for "EDU FALASCHI l The Shadow Hunter l Temple Of Shadows In Concert". Edu Falaschi (Angra and Almah) is a Brazilian singer of Power Metal, this version of "The Shadow Hunter" with an orchestra was simply magnificent and deserves to be shared with the world.
God Bless You! I'm a fan of the channel.
I subscribe and this it the best album since
Somewhere in time Plus he had cancer of the throat during the studio recordings one of his tongue One of his neck
Fun fact:
This is the ONLY Iron Maiden song that uses drop D tuning.
Always happy to see a Maiden react
They are the best live band. PlEase do the Clansman, the Red and the Black. Bruce 'S voice is unique. He was inspired by the greatest Ronnie James DIO 🤘🏻 cheers from Italy. Stay rock my friend 🎸
It’s a concept album so each song is the part of a story of the album.
Please next one, blood brothers live.
The songs indicated for your next auditions are wonderful and I believe you will be surprised by For the greater good of God, The talisman and especially Infinite Dreams, in the live version. And as some others have indicated, Bruce, in his solo career, has wonderful songs that are sure to delight you.
You should definitely react to Italy’s Entrance for this years Eurovision Song Contest. They have pretty good chances to win tonight’s biggest and oldest tv music competitions. It’s on for more than 65 years. And usually it’s rubbish pop music that wins. But this year this marvellous rock band from Italy is the big favourite for tonight’s win. I hope they will and hope you like it.
It‘s Måneskin with „Zitti E Buoni“. You find the live performances from Eurovision here on UA-cam.
Children of the Damned studio version!
I hope you will include a Paul Di'Anno song in the Maiden Month; es: "Remember Tomorrow"
Paschendale (Live from Death On The Road DVD)
Just FYI before this Album He had recovered from Throat Cancer.. And Still unmatched!
Ken! I just discovered Chase Holfelder, he takes songs and turns them from a Major key into a Minor key! I'd really like for you to check him out and give your thoughts on his music. I specifically like his Minor cover of My Heart Will Go On
React to something from their depute album. I reccommend transylvania, phantom of the opera, prowler or strange world
Just going to echo the others: "The Talisman" from the "En Vivo!" live album.
Bruce's vocal peak imo was around 1998/1999.
A great send-off I think. ua-cam.com/video/lQZz39hJbkw/v-deo.html
So I have to have some fun with you Ken Lavigne, Try Yo Ho by Heather Alexander ;)
Great reaction Ken! It's been awhile since I had last listened to any Iron Maiden. On another note, Joe Bonamassa just dropped a new album. The song "Mountain Climbing" is fantastic. Would love to see your take/reaction to it!
Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls (LIVE)
You should check out any song done by the powermetal band Gloryhammer
I recommend the self-titled song "Gloryhammer" played live at Wacken in 2019
The Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate (live)✌🏼
love your reaction!
Is there any chance you will be reacting to falling in reverse - im not a vampire revamped?
Ken its ur boy Ian Wood back. Please react to some Fear Factory. I would love to see you do them. Thanks.
FF's one of my favorite bands, but, in all honesty, anyone with a background in singing is going to be hard pressed to find a diplomatic way of discussing Burton's clean vocals. At least in a live setting.
@@toamcdohl yeah i kno that but i still wanna see him do it. I like reaction videos. Ive gotten a lot of different people to react to them. Im trying to get new fans for them. What do u think of the first 2 new songs
If you wanna hear some Paul Di Anno voice (first Iron Maiden singer) stranger world is your best option.
Great reaction and song choice! Now you gotta react to some tracks by death, maybe start with 'Flesh and the power it holds' or a 'Crystal Mountain'
Hi again Ken. What a great performance & that sound reverberates & resonates in my head for ages, & your music knowledge blows me away.
On a tangent, I sent to you ( a very long post ) about 1 month ago requesting a reaction to a young Soprano singer by the name of Amira Willighagen & am wondering if you’re interested in doing a reaction. If you can, please advise me one way or another, for if you have no intersect, I’ll stop bothering you.
Cheers & thank you. Graeme
I'm top 1% of listeners to Iron Maiden on Spotify (not bragging...just saying I listen to A LOT of maiden), and think The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg is one of their most underrated songs. Highly recommend.
