Mark Waid's run was my gateway to Daredevil. It is a magnificent and beautiful run that helped me navigate my own life challenges. I splurged for the omnis (thanks to your channel!) to give myself a meaningful break from what's been a brutal situation. As you said, "There will be a better day. Everything may seem to be falling apart right now but things will get better." Waid's Daredevil is an all-time great for me.
Glad you included Daredevil Yellow. The absolute best stand alone DD story that wasn’t written by some guy named Frank Miller. And Tim Sale’s ink washes are magnificent.
I loved Nocenti’s Daredevil as a kid. When I came back to comics about 5 years ago after decades away , Miller got me hooked on DD. Since then I’ve read and loved Bendis, Brubaker (my fave) and Waid. I even liked parts of the Shadowland Omni Diggle wrote. And of course I reread the first 20 or so issues of Nocenti’s run. I own both Zdarsky Omnis and will tackle those in the next month.
I feel like Frank Miller's stuff is such a great place to start. He retold the origin in The Man Without Fear, then you have his actual run, and Born Again happens like 30 issues later. There's a decent amount of stuff all in one section of the reading order being told by one writer along with the origin. Plus like you said, almost everything that came after was more or less built off of this run.
Looking forward to watching this, too! It starts and ends with Miller. Even runs like Waid and Nocenti are based on the premise that they are completely different from what Miller did.
Awesome to see this type of *Where to start* run down and hearing you're bringing back *Reading Order Of...* due to so many new titles having been released. Will be hyped to see the notifications pop up for these videos alongside the current content.
Whenever I’m looking thru my DD hardcovers I always find myself taking time to re-read Daredevil Yellow, it’s a beautiful standalone story that doesn’t really require any additional reading.
I really do love the Frank Miller/Klaus Janson Run, so many great issues. I love issue 173 DD Goes Berserk, that dark story regarding Becky's back story. Man, that was shocking and love the twist in the end. Fantastic issue.
There is a wealth of content from the Marvel Knights era that could easily be put into two omnis if Marvel ever cared enough to bother... Daredevil: Marvel Knights Companion Daredevil Battlin’ Jack Murdock #1-4, Daredevil Ninja #1-3, Daredevil Vol. 2 #20-25 & #51-55, Daredevil Redemption #1-6, Daredevil Black and White #1, Bullseye: Perfect Game #1-2, Daredevil Dark Nights #1-8, Daredevil Cage Match #1, Daredevil End of Days #1-8 The Marvel Knights: Defenders of the Streets Marvel Knights Vol. 1 #1-15, Marvel Knights Vol. 2 #1-6, Daredevil/Spider-Man #1-4, Spider-Man/Daredevil #1, Marvel Knights Double Shot #1-4, Daredevil & Captain America: Dead on Arrival #1, Daredevil Vs. Punisher: Means and Ends #1-6, Black Widow #1-3, Black Widow (Breakdown) #1-3, Wolverine/Punisher #1-4, Punisher Red X-Mas #1, Punisher: Bloody Valentine #1, The Punisher: Silent Night #1.
Im impressed with the quality of Daredevil comics. As much as I love the darker tone/noir feel of the comics, my personal favorite is Waid’s run. I genuinely had a lot of fun reading that! Omar, you perfectly explained why Waid’s is my favorite. Thank you!
my first daredevil run was the brubaker one which follows up from bendis, which I still need to read, read the miller run this year, got the companion omni sitting waiting for when I next need some Matt, I read a little chunk of waid's run years ago and really liked it to, the thing with daredevil is it seems like you can't go wrong jumping into most runs, some serious quality to be found everywhere
Great guide and storylines. It might be a good move to link the beginner guide playlist in the description of these videos to make it easier than sorting through the channel playlists.
I have limited space so I just cannot collect or afford as much as I'd like for any character. So, for me, Daredevil starts with Frank Miller DD was a bit ho-hum before Miller took over, so all my DD and Elektra is by Miller, but I'm excited for the Nocenti stuff which I will add to my shelves.
I don't know if this will help you but Marvel's starting to collect its omnibi digitally. For me I have a small house too so I have to be careful with the physical omnis that I do buy. Hope this helps!
What a great video! ¡Gracias, Omar! But. Wow. You skipped Ed Brubaker entirely. Yes, I understand that it is logical to read Bendis' run before Brubaker, but I have personal experience that Brubaker works really well even without Bendis. I had left comics for more than two decades, and the reason why I returned was Brubaker's Daredevil. I happened to see a trade paperback in a comic store, bought it just because it looked cool, and I was astonished. I didn't know that comics can be that good! After that I was hooked, and I became Marvel omni collector. I still think that Brubaker's Daredevil run is not only the best Daredevil run, but one of the best runs that Marvel has to offer. And it worked as a perfectly good starting point for me!
I started reading DD withthe Zdarsky run. After watching Netflix series DD season 1&2. Normally a Batman reader. Love the Zdarsky/ Chechetto combo. Considering picking up Miller omnibus soon
It may not be loved by many, but I still have a special place for Fall from Grace. It was probably the Scott McDaniel art, which I thought was so cool.
I've been wondering if I should pick up Zdarsky's volume 1. I do have Devil's Reign, but volume 2 is out of stock. From what I see, I would be missing about 5 issues, but those might be skippable. Can someone confirm?
I did it in this order: Frank Miller - The Man Without Fear Frank Miller - Born Again Kevin Smith - Guardian Devil Jeph Loeb - Yellow Daredevil Part of a Hole Bendis Run Brubaker Run Waid Run Zdarksy Run After that I went back to complete miller run starting from the beginning and I also read Soule run. My only regret about my order was to not reading all of the Frank Miller daredevil and just reading Born Again.
I love how with most of these you choose a few introductionary issues and then there’s like the whole 30+ issues long Frank Miller run 😂 But don’t get me wrong, completely valid. Miller’s is classic for a good reason.
Hmmm…it’s almost as if Daredevil was THE prestige Marvel character - probably the character has more better runs and talent than all Batman titles ever combined. I have a soft spot for Nocenti’s run because I absolutely love JR and Williamson’s art.
So I guess we're just gonna disrespect the Charles Soule & Ron Garney Era of Daredevil by completely omitting it, even although it sets up things that happen in the Zdarsky run.
Disrespect? Absolutely not. Leave it out because I don’t think it’s a good jumping on point? Yes. My favorite DD run of all time isn’t included in here. Because Bru builds on what Bendis did.
Not that I have to explain myself to anyone. This is what I do for a living. Not all companies send me books. The last time I tried paying for groceries with books; they kicked me out. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day.
Omar is a gift to this community and deserves all the support anyone can give. I don’t know any other creators who cares about his audience as much as he does. I made a comment many yrs ago during a hard time in my life and his personal response was very touching and showed what a great guy he is. I’ll never forget it.
A reading order and a "Where to start reading" in the same month?! You will spoil us, Omar.

Can't believe someone who like Dardevil consider Waid's run good. It's anti Daredevil
Daredevil is a great entry point for new readers since he’s one of the most consistently (by far) well-written characters in comics.
Glad you included Daredevil Yellow. The absolute best stand alone DD story that wasn’t written by some guy named Frank Miller. And Tim Sale’s ink washes are magnificent.
I can't believe you gave us both a Reading Order and Where to start reading in the same month?! Near Mint is back!
January feels like a "Back to basics" in the channel...and i love it so much
Miller/Bendis/Brubaker Sacred Trinity. A must read, no questions asked.
I loved Nocenti’s Daredevil as a kid. When I came back to comics about 5 years ago after decades away , Miller got me hooked on DD. Since then I’ve read and loved Bendis, Brubaker (my fave) and Waid. Thanks for this video as I was getting interested in where to begin with Daredevil. Perfect timing.
Now we need a punisher reading order!!!
Zdarsky was my gateway into Daredevil and that was a great time.
Solid recommendation.
Dammit, Omar, you're going to make me start collecting the Daredevil Epics!
Looking forward to watching this, too! It starts and ends with Miller. Even runs like Waid and Nocenti are based on the premise that they are completely different from what Miller did.
Fun to see Omar. Started Daredevil with the Bendis run myself and haven't stopped collecting it since.
Awesome to see this type of *Where to start* run down and hearing you're bringing back *Reading Order Of...* due to so many new titles having been released. Will be hyped to see the notifications pop up for these videos alongside the current content.
What a satisfyingly comprehensive and incredibly well-made video Omar and Dom, thanks guys!
Excellent suggestions.
Perfect timing as I ordered the zadarsky, bendis and waid omnibus’s as wel as born again and man without fear!!!
Whenever I’m looking thru my DD hardcovers I always find myself taking time to re-read Daredevil Yellow, it’s a beautiful standalone story that doesn’t really require any additional reading.
Phenomenal video, Omar!

My 3 most needed reprints for daredevil is volume 1, ed brubaker volume 1 and Charles soule.

Thank you, Omar, greetings from Germany 😊
Great guide and storylines. It might be a good move to link the beginner guide playlist in the description of these videos to make it easier than sorting through the channel playlists.
Great idea!
Omar, can you PLEASE make a Moon Knight reading order!!! Thank you for everything you do!
Daredevil is Marvel’s best written title of all time!
Silver Surfer is
This is awesome and timely as I'm trying to plan out my daredevil reading for later this year or beginning of 2026
Definitely watching later
The trailer is a big part of it but it's also just the most consistently well written character. Great video.

emma frost reading order!
Like always, love your video! But you missed two of my favourite runs Edbrubaker and Soule!
Brubaker is my favorite DD run of all time, but I don’t think it makes for a good jumping on point. Same for Soule.
@ you re right but i love listening to you talking about that 😅
This is smart timing, Born Again around the corner.
Daredevil omnibus volume 4, please.
Zdarsky, Miller, Bendis, Brubaker, Waid. All Daredevil. All great Runs
I've been reading Daredevil since Frank Miller's run. I loved him ever since.
Miller.
Smith.
Bendis through Brubaker.
Waid.
Soule.
Zdarsky.
Silver age.
With Black widow
Nocenti.
Are you planning on doing a room tour for this year?
I am. Filming it soon.
@NearMintCondition Awesome. Love checking out your collection.
Think we can get one of these videos on punisher ?
It may not be loved by many, but I still have a special place for Fall from Grace. It was probably the Scott McDaniel art, which I thought was so cool.
YES!! Love that story!
Any idea when Daredevil Brubaker vol 1 will be re-printed? Hopefully sometime 2025
Wasn’t this one just reprinted?
June 7th 2022 I think
I've been wondering if I should pick up Zdarsky's volume 1. I do have Devil's Reign, but volume 2 is out of stock. From what I see, I would be missing about 5 issues, but those might be skippable. Can someone confirm?
I did it in this order:
Frank Miller - The Man Without Fear
Frank Miller - Born Again
Kevin Smith - Guardian Devil
Jeph Loeb - Yellow
Daredevil Part of a Hole
Bendis Run
Brubaker Run
Waid Run
Zdarksy Run
After that I went back to complete miller run starting from the beginning and I also read Soule run. My only regret about my order was to not reading all of the Frank Miller daredevil and just reading Born Again.
Question Omar what about Kevin Smith’s Daredevil run was it good at least?
It’s solid. Wordy, but solid.
Daredevil Ninja - Bendis & Rob Haynes
I love how with most of these you choose a few introductionary issues and then there’s like the whole 30+ issues long Frank Miller run 😂
But don’t get me wrong, completely valid. Miller’s is classic for a good reason.
Omar, any chance we get a Charles Soule omnibus reprint?
Make sure to vote in the coming months. When we go live with the reprint poll.
is daredevil by miller omni is stock?
if it isn't can you ask marvel to reprint it?
I don't think it is. The marvel masterworks may be and they are discounted on IST last I checked.
I don't understand the hate of JR JR. I think his art is unique and emotive. Like him alot especially during this time
I feel like my choice of Waid for my first dive into modern Daredevil was wise
Don't forget Ultimate Daredevil and Elektra Omar! 😭
I just watched the one from 5 years ago... 😆🤣
Mighty marvel masterworks Iron Man?
Hmmm…it’s almost as if Daredevil was THE prestige Marvel character - probably the character has more better runs and talent than all Batman titles ever combined. I have a soft spot for Nocenti’s run because I absolutely love JR and Williamson’s art.
Frank miller started at 158, elektra first appearance was 168.
Frank started writing with 168. Hence Elektra.
The Batman poor!
I disagree with the Ahmed DD run being a good jump on point. IMO it's the worst DD run in the last 25 years.
I’m loving it. To each their own though. :)
@@NearMintCondition To each their own, you couldn't be more right.
Don't read Mark Waid.
@ ah fair play Omar, I was wrong didn’t realise it was jumping on points, I was thinking chronological. Whoops my mistake.
Wait why does this guy need a patreon account when the comic companies send him free books. I hope no one is stupid enough to give him money lol.
Not that I have to explain myself to anyone. This is what I do for a living. Not all companies send me books. The last time I tried paying for groceries with books; they kicked me out. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day.
Omar keeping it classy and the guy still gets buuuuuurned. Love it!
@@NearMintConditionlove you Omar. Keep doing what you are doing. Glad to be a patreon member.
