If you're worried about the bolts coming loose, it's probably a better idea to put some blue Loctite on the threads rather than over tightening them (which I would probably end up doing).
Thank you for posting the video. I just put a set of aftermarket ones that I got off eBay on my Ford F-150. And it's driving me nuts how unlevel they are. Now I know how to fix the problem. Thanks again guys
I would like to add a couple helpful hints when installing these types of Tow Mirrors, First off it will be a lot easier when removing the Outer Plastic Covers if you use a Thin Putty Knife instead of a Flat Blade Screw Driver, Also, when your ready to insert the Washers, Sandwich them between a long piece of Scotch Tape and leave a 1" tail on it, then poke a Hole through the tape so it will be easier to insert the Bolt through. At first I used 3 Washers, which made my Mirrors Perfectly Level, "BUT" when I went to install the Plastic covers, they would not Snap Shut because the Top underside of the Mirrors Arm was to low which prevented the cover from closing, I then lifted the mirror up which took some pressure off of the cover, which let it snap close, "But" when I moved the mirror to close them the covers would Pop Off, So I ended up using just 2 Washers, which did the job, I would also recommend that you use Lock Tight on the Fine Threads of the Bolts when you tighten them down.
Mu thoughts on what you commented.... do you think using the two at the mirror and maybe one on the top stud at the base mount might give the proper angle with out pushing it out from the door to far and making a gap?
@@_flexxx_ You can try it, But doing so may require you to purchase Two Longer Screws for the Top, because adding Washers to the bottom may cause the Top to be to far from the mounting Holes, But I and many others found that Two Washers at the Top is all you need to make your Mirrors Level, Just make sure you use ether the Blue Locktite or the New Orange Locktite, which is in between the Blue and Red, But is easy to remove. By the way, If I ever do this again, I would take one of the bolts to my local Hardware Store and Purchase 4 that are just a little bit longer, for the top Right and Left side, that way when you add the Two Washers to the Top, you will gain back what you loose when adding the Two washers, But then again, I have had mine on for Two Years, and they are still Holding tight with the added Blue Locktite.
Yup, all mirrors for vehicles are made that way, the passenger side mirror is farther from the driver, so it has to be at a different angle for optimum viewing angle. From oem factory the passenger side is engineered that way too, the glass has slant to it instead of the whole housing, if you want to check it out...
If you have a strong magnet you can shave down the thickness of washers on a belt sander to dial in the level-ness just dead perfect. It's like making your own custom shims.
I had to do the same thing to mine after I installed the newer style mirrors!!! All cat eyed chevys need the washers. Mine are perfectly level. I used 3 washers on each side.
Truckmaster, I’ve got a problem with this method. I had yitamirrors on my last truck and followed this leveling method and it worked. Now I got boost mirrors, and when you try to put those spacers in there, even when you snug it back down it wobbles and won’t get solid meaning that spring behind the little lever wedge is just pushing out far enough now to not hold the mirrors tight. Does that make sense? Please message me I ended up putting spacer in top of the 3 bolts that hold the mirror to the door.
Add just a little finger nail polish or light dap of blue loctite to the bolts. Keep them from vibrating loose and snug up easier an prevent [less chance of] stripping. You two are the best, I say it every time. But it truly is refreshing to see a young couple who are a team like the two of you. Continued success... so now what's next for the build ....
hey do you have a problem with the passenger mirror being able to see behind on the top passenger side ? because i cant see the back of my truck on passenger side
Watched this when you first posted three years ago. Now i’m back in 2023 (with inflation and the price of stainless hardware) to make a joke and say you should change the title of the video to “Spend 8 dollars to level your tow mirrors”. Lol.
I've been watching your videos for years and i never owned a chevy pickup, im getting my first, it's a black 95 silverado 2500 regular cab 4x4 and my second modification will be tow mirrors , are you happy with those still ?
Just a little FYI the mirrors are diff angles side to side dirty max jack did a whole video on this exact topic check it out. It’s all abt the angle the driver sees from driver seat.
We need a video on what to do when you drop a washer in the bottom base of the mirror lol crappy part I can’t even use a magnet I bought Ss. You make getting them top 10mm on the head of them bolts look easy. Mine wanted to round out the head. Thanks for your tips.
I have the same mirrors, and this method will leave a gap at the top and when you hit a bump your mirrors bounce. Wish there was a better way to get rid of that look.
Bought some China tow mirrors and can't get them to adjust far enough in to see my rig or tow vehicle. Best I can do is watch the white line go by beside my vehicle. Do the Boost mirrors actually allow you to see your tow vehicle? And does leveling change the viewing angle much? Or is it more for how it looks to others while truckin' down the road?
Hey you said if you put 3 washers on you might have to mod that covers that snap back on, what did you have to mod on them because I only put 2 washers on both driver and passenger. The driver side one snapped in fine the passenger side however does not wana snap it what did you do?
Hey man I had a question for you on those mirrors were they the ones with the turn signals? And if they do have the turn signals were those mirrors plug and play? Or did you have to run wires for the blinkers to work? Been really wanting these mirrors but I do not want to have to fool with wiring I’m hoping they are just plug and play
I went 3 washers out of personal preference, had to lightly grind some plastic on the bottom side with the dremmel on the cap to get it flush, but looks factory. Just have to know any mod on any part ( like my grinding) will void warranty. Question, "Do the chickens have large talons?" JK 😂
Great video bro! just had replace mine cause I was side swiped bout 90mph on freeway by another truck....can you believe and luckily all he clipped was my drivers mirror, it sounded like he took whole side of truck with him....I did buy exact mirror for driver side and appears is opposite of yours....my passenger mirror looks level and driver looks to be at angle? great trick shimming and I may do mine as well but really only 2 people know....me and you so I might jus leave. LOL!! Thanks!
I know this post isn't about braking, but I have a brakes not holding when I brake boost (I drag race). Is a 2007 GMC LBZ Duramax, have already flushed the hydroboost and brake system and still very poor brakes. No leaks, but just wondering how I can tell if is master cylinder or the hydroboost. Any help would be appreciated.
Dosnt look bad. Boost auto parts does not recommend leveling them. "Our mirrors are designed off of the OEM mirrors, and the OEM mirrors do not sit level. Many choose to level the mirrors out and there are many writeups out there on how to do it, however we do not endorse this. Disclaimer: Leveling the mirrors can cause additional glass shake as well as damage to the mirrors."

Did it hold up over time????? And is it hard to wire in turn signals to a work module with no power windows or mirrors?
The mirror always look different because the drivers mirror is twisted farther out and the passenger side is twisted closer to the door
I never knew that

Hahaha I was about to send my mirrors back because of this!

Just bought a silverado yesterday and hated the mirrors leaning. Going out tomorrow and fixing this. Thanks for the tip.
I'm glad I watched you. I'm going to add 2 washers before I put my new mirrors on 👍
Good job - much better looking!! I will have my son do his 2500HD and my Duramax!!
I had to do the same thing to mine after I installed the newer style mirrors!!! All cat eyed chevys need the washers. Mine are perfectly level. I used 3 washers on each side.
How thick were the washers you used. I couldn’t get the cover back on when I used 3 washers
@@alexanderweller6509 they were real thin i believe. If coverwont pop on then try 2 washers. Or trim cover a little where its hitting.
Great content. Happy wife is a happy life be safe guys
Sweet video man glad you leveled them! Just got my stay tuned decal and I love it! Thank you for your time and effort!
Awesome! Thanks Nick
You need a longer extension on the drill
I have an 2001 hd project so keep the ideas coming 30 over injectors 68 mm turbo 5 inch exhaust so far

Thanks Ron we have our order in for HSP parts also Anthem wheels are ordered as well
Any idea if tuned duramax runs hotter in terms of egts and coolant temperature?
Having issues with these mirrors folding in themselves on the highway... do you know how to tighten them?
you need a shorter handle ratchet the longer the handle is a greater chance of striping
hey do you have a problem with the passenger mirror being able to see behind on the top passenger side ? because i cant see the back of my truck on passenger side
I put 3 washers on mine. Modified the cover and I also put super glue to keep the covers from flying off
What’s the purple wire go to for the puddle lights on the mirrors
Will this work on the older mirror
Do you have a video of wiring these mirrors up?
I have those retro fitted on my 98 Silverado so ima give it a shot
i’m about to install some on my 97 yukon
@@domeniccaldarelli4443 super easy

Thanks for the tip. Mine are finally level now.
Where did you get the mirrors?
Looks alot better!!
I can't believe you are almost at 100k subs, it's so awesome. 👍
I know it’s crazy man

1/4in plastic spacers worked perfect on mine
Helpful hint: I super glued 3 washers together before installing
Thanks
What size washers?
?
Damn I'm jealous of the truck and the wife lol. Wish my wife would help me with the Tahoe lol.
Driverside looks level.
Great job.
🤘👍
The passenger naturally sits different, that's why driver side is perfect
How do they hold up. Do they shake alot

Looks good!
What size washers
I just ordered those mirrors for chevy tahoe
my mirrors looked the same way. i actually put 3 washers on one side and 2 on the other to make them look even to my eyes anyway lol.
Looks good. I agree with your wife, the driver side looks more level.
Mine was the same , i used three washers on the passenger and 2 on the driver to fix that issue
Why no lock washers?
wow it looks way better
Thanks to both of u i am going to do mine now haha that truck is getting done up looks awesome who makes thoses light head lights
How much longer until the new wheels and tires come in
Gorgeous truck 👍🏼
What size of bolt. Thanks
Will this work for a OBS Chevy

@@TruckMaster no problem. I'm sure you knew this, just didn't want someone coming after you especially if they try it with the ebay knock offs.
Is it six or eight washers?
When are you going to make a videos on installing the edge monitor mount for the wife max truck?
They should come with shims from the manufacturer when they say it fits this body style of truck.
"Go ahead and"
Reason everyone likes the wifemax so much is.....it came from diapers to almost depends build!!!!!....👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wife max is clean but you’re red truck does look better. Show us how you cut those covers?
They look different because the mirrors are at different angles off the the body if that makes sense
Wifemax has come a long way!
Drivers side is level
Put a level on top of the mirrors see which one is more off then the other
You would have to be on perfectly level ground
great video!!
I'm pretty sure passanger side mirrors sit at a different angle then the driver side.
I don’t mind the angle it’s sort of matches the cat eye angle of the headlights.
it does help the look alottt for sure haha
The angled look gives the truck a more aggressive look, leveling it makes it just look bad imo
Her truck it dirtyyyy..The mirrors are gross...Sorry i had to for the haters....Getting that out of the way...lmao...Good stuff guys...

💀🤣 bruh thats his wife
Where’s the rims?
It’s ordered but it will take about 1 month

Why not put a level on it
