Hey UA-cam! We are Guys With Games ESL/EAL Activities.
We share new games every week for you to use in the ESL classroom. Our focus is teaching English in a fun way and sharing games that deliberately make English the main entree, not just a side dish.

Today’s Game:
In today’s video, Dustin (Canada) and Carson (USA) teach us how to play a fun and engaging game for your ESL Students using just markers, a white/blackboard, and your imagination!
Name of the game:
Playful Pics
Materials:
Board
Markers/chalk
Imagination
Ideal class size:
- 6-20 Students
Instructions:
Divide the class into two teams and send one person from each team outside the classroom. While they’re out, draw a picture on the board while explaining to the remaining students how to talk about that picture. Use vocabulary that’s appropriate for their level.
In this example, Dustin uses the example of a man on a boat on the water fishing. Under the water, there’s a huge fish with its mouth wide open, it’s about to eat the boat.
Once the students in the classroom understand the picture, erase it and bring the students back in to stand in front of the board. They will try to draw the same picture, instructed by their teams with words only. They’ll describe what to draw, what size, what it looks like..etc. The first team to finish drawing all the elements of the teacher’s picture wins!
Guidelines for submitting games:
Please submit only games that are English-focused. Games that don’t have an English element beyond just using English to explain the rules won’t be considered.
Things to tell us about your game:

This channel should be more recognized among ESL teachers around the world. Thank you so much.
This is awesome guys. Too many other ESL UA-camrs just talk thru the games without demonstrating, which is useless. The demo really helped.
It makes our videos a little bit longer, but we too think it’s important... and it’s fun to play against each other. Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for all the activities you've uploaded. So helpful!! You are great!
I played this game with my 5 graders today, it was awesome! Thank you for sharing, colleagues!

Thank you very much! This going to help with Vocabulary activities and speaking as well.
Thank you for sharing your ideas🙂
My students loved this game, although, they started drawing the most intricate things to throw off the other team (I made the teams draw different pictures for the other team, so they don't copy/repeat/cheat from the other team)
Seems like fun! I'll soon try some of the games out for sure, never taught English before :D

Hi! Just wondering... What did you ask them to draw... Could you please provide some samples?
@@dianagranado8252 you can draw anything funny, like 3kids, draw with big, bigger and the biggest kids who holding lollipop, then one of the lollipop cracking, and the kid who holds the lollipop is crying☺
Any ideas where to get more such kind of awesome pics? Thx.))
This one is a hit
It's a great game. I want to play with my adult students :) I just can''t figure out why but my young students hate drawing. :) (esl teacher form Turkey)
That's a good game. I call it Picasso.
Guys. Thanks for sharing your game. I would like to ask : do i have to separate the students in 2 groups. And then each group explains to the drawer what to draw?
That's what I usually do. It works.
hi you're so funny and interesting make more videos please thanks
I'll try the game for english class
I will try in my class for my special students . Which is intellectual disabled.
thx GUYS
I really like you guys
Thank you very much.
Well this game is called drawing dictation. It is fun and engaging
Layla is cute : )
Cool, but my students will make too much noise
Wow
Even though the 外国老师 finished slower his picture was better quality
canadian guy. What a hottie!
What’s is ig?
My students love this game!
Dustin is so handsome!
So uh, describe a night alone with him.
@@sullenday as soon as I have it I will describe it😂
Do all of the students call out and try to describe it or do they take turns describing? I'm sure it could get very overwhelming having 18 students trying to talk at the same time!
Shelby Wilhelm it could be set up either way. Sometimes a little organized chaos entices more enthusiastic participation. But you’re right, sometimes it can be overwhelming.
@@GuysWithGamesESL That's very true. I guess it also depends on the students, so it doesn't hurt to try it both ways and see what works best. Thanks!
what a body Dustin
Dustin has a smiliar look like Davey Wafey Fitness. Is he the same person? LOL
Hello. I am
an English teacher. I work in a public primary school in Ecuador ( I am Ecuadorian). I need help because my
students are too unruly. I work with 2nd and 3rd grade . There are about 30
students in each class. There are no resources in the school. The book we use
is not good. What activities and strategies can I use? . I have used activities
I have found on the internet. I use songs. But it is not enough. My students
need more activities that engage them in the classroom. Please. Would you be so
kind to help me with some advice and ideas. Thank you in advance
Great game, cheers guys! Going to try with my Y10 class tomorrow! I've just started posting teaching videos to my channel. Check it out if you need any extra ideas :-)
I didn't understand you
It's a great way to practice students' oral English, but can be a bummer for students with poor vocubulary and weak foundation.
It sounds a good game but for students as mine who have very low level in English, they cannot play it because they don't know or understand words.
I’ve played with very early beginners before, but the pictures are much easier. We teach gestures and flashcards with animals, fruit, and colors from the very beginning. The picture in the game could be a “tall turtle” or “long banana”
has anybody noticed how hot the first guy actually is?
I have the uncanny superpower of making anyone standing next to me appear especially attractive.
