Rhyming words is great.
Memory is fun, however it doesn't teach language efficiently. The guy who has students always read the word has a very good idea. That gives them at least some practice.
A good way to do memory games like this is to write all the words down, then cover them up with sheets of paper that are held up with magnetic clips. You don't want to be using a slow game, and also taking time to write and erase entire words.
As a teacher, organize your games into ones which are highly educational (students learn a lot during game time), and ones that are mostly just for fun. This will help with quickly making decisions that best fit the situation. I keep my games organized as a few decks of flash cards, and usually decide which games will get played before the start of each class.
klancy kennedy thanks for taking the time to comment. Normally, with games in our classrooms, the goal is to review something taught in the previous lesson before moving on to some similar thing. Memory can be a great exercise to practice matching upper/lower case letters that are known before moving on to some more that are not, for example.
We do really appreciate your input, and agree that this particular game does not do much to teach NEW material. It is probably more useful for beginner level learners.

Hi thanks for the game.
I tried to create some of your games in PowerPoint format and use it as a source and for other units , I just replaced the words.
But for this game the students can remember the squares that match each other, not remembering the words. Do you have any suggestions in order not to create the game each time for each unit? I can send my sample powerpoint format for this game in Telegram or whatsaap.
