the depth to which you go... fantastic engineering skill and ability to explain
@volodymyrrybalkin9529 Thank you!
You did an outstanding job explaining this. Best diagnostic description i think i have ever heard on UA-cam. Well done sir!
Lmnop Xyz Thank you very much!!
Great job, and I like the fact that you confirmed that the part was faulty, that is the sign of a good mechanic
@henryhenry3832 Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to explain this in detail. My 2004 f150 gauge is stuck on full and the low fuel light is on, I have replaced the fuel pump and sending unit with no luck of fixing it.. after this fantastic video explanation of how the circuit works I am hoping with this new knowledge and understanding I now have of this circuit works I'm hoping to track down the problem and finally fix this.
@glennshriner My Pleasure! Good luck with your truck!
Thank you for taking the time to make a detailed and informative video.
devin vian you're welcome!!!
Thanks you helped me figure my problem out. I was on the wrong path, already stripped my dashboard unnecessarily and removed the instrument cluster . Thank you
MrMoss786 you're welcome...
Awesome video! I love how you explained everything and showed the reasoning for why is wasn't working
Matt Stanley Thank you!
Finally a good and thorough instructional video on how to troubleshoot a fuel gauge anomaly!
2nd best part was that I have a '97 ford, gauge stuck on high, same voltmeter and same testing light :) :) :)
Thanks Man!

Explanation very precise and able to be followed by a shade tree mec. Like me. Thank you.
thank you
Great video and technical diagnosis. Will put it to use on my 95 Ford F350 with the same problem....gauge always reads full.

sir I believce you solved my issue, i have the exact same thing happen, my guage shows full, over full,, say what?? It was reading ok, however I had replaced the electric pump which the old one worked, but the way I understand,which I didn't take the old pump apart, but it was supposed to have a check valve, allegedly was messed up, at any rate, i replaced it, and now, the guage as you showed reads over full! So , I guess I'll have to drop my tank, thank goodness its empty or close to it, and check the sending unit/pump, so i don't have a multimeter, i was using a jump wire from the battery!! anyhow thanks, you gave me a little light at the end of my tunnel of hope!! By the way, this is an 86 ford club wagon van. The door latches don't work, from wear, years of not working much, then i bought this project!! I really need to put this on utube!!
@stoner4 I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful and good luck with your project!
Oh,,boy,,,I thought you may have, uhh, my sending unit works fine, I'll have to go back over the system again,,but,,,I will inject this, when testing my sending unit with my test lead,I connect to ground on the plug and when I touch the power post it lights but ends up blinking intermittent! What's that all about. Which the ignition switch on.
@@stoner4 hey , my friend, you were close I think,, well my back tank shows full but like you mentioned mine is empty, so , thats not the problem, i had to tow it to the shop, they told me its some electrrical issue, i agree now, evreythiung else is ok, except , read this carefuly,, I turn the key on , the pump works, no gas coming to the motor, i checked the flow, i get pressure out of the pump but none to the motor! now what the heck,,, fuel coming through the return line to the motor, say what?? Im baffled! What did I miss,,, maybe a relay in the dash some where?? ,,, wow,,,, thats a good one!!
I am too poor to buy a new sending unit, so I just clean and re-install the old one. I have also taken the mechanism from other cars, either used or new, and re-installed on the old frame.
@chargermopar Good!
Nice job man!!! 👍👍👍
Simon Salamon Thank you!
Thanks you did it all
you're welcome Osman Adam!!!

Thank you well said 👍🏼
@ludwig-vi6pi My Pleasure! Thanks
That was a very very good presentation. After following all that you did I have been able to identify my problem it exist between the control board and the dash board control (fuel gauge control). My car is a toyota RAV4 2002 fuel gauge always reading full. What should I do now?
Daniel Oduro Aboagye Thank you! you need to find the right wiring diagram and figure out where the problem is on the wiring!
Great video, I am thinking that the other wires in that plug are the power and ground for the fuel pump. That's just my guess.
Kluger's Garage thank you, and you're right the other wires are for the fuel pump, on vans that have a pump in the tank
I learned how to test fuel sending unit. Be for dropping the fuel tank
Benjamin m Gomez Good Luck with your project!
Thank u man
@king on common law, you're welcome
My gauge is always on empty I checked the pump and all is well. Ford ranger T6 2013 petrol. I need help. Zoli from South Africa. Thank you
@mxolisiradebe2900 My Pleasure! Check the gauge wiring or have a pro mechanic check them for you!
Awesome thanks
Promisberg My Pleasure!
My fuel gage is not reading correctly. For the two tanks on my truck. When tank is full it reads way past full. When the truck is off tank reads full. I replaced both sending units. Still the same problem. :(
@johndubois8989 check the wiring or the gauge on the dash itself!
On my 2011 Ford Focus se my fuel gauge is all ways reading empty I don’t no if I replace the whole thing or what someone pls help
Pakayla•Pamela Loudermilk the fuel gauge circuit needs to be tested, that symptom can be caused by a defective sending unit in the tank or a problem in the gauge wiring, so I recommend taking it to a pro mechanic to have it diagnosed!!
I am trying to figure out how do I program my dual control module to my car which is a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu 2.5 engine please send me a message immediately
Toni Dixon I don't do programming! you should take it to a pro mechanic that can program it for you!
What can I do since my 97 mini van reads empty all the time when I start the engine.any suggestions please .
Gustavo Tapia you probably have a defective sending unit!! do the tests in the video to test it!!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I previously switched the fuel pump.and it still does same thing you think it might need a gas gauge or more ground.
@@gustapi30 did you do the tests I diid in the video to check the wiring?
are you located in ny?

Stuck float.
Kitty Gonzalez bad resistor on the sending unit!
Easy, FREE fix. Just reset your mileage back to zero when you fill up and watch your mileage and when you have got to X amount of miles, fill it up again :) Seriously, why spend the $$$$ to get it fixed, it's just a fuel gauge. Not like it will effect the way the car runs.
trvman1 you have a point but most people prefer to look at the gauge!!
That's a great idea until you go to sell your vehicle. No one will buy it unfortunately.
You sound like me! I always do that...since I was a teenager, or I used too write mileage on the gas receipt!
Truck runs good till it warms up then it looks like it runs out of fuel
Marty Terry sounds like a problem in the fuel system or HEUI system...
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair what do i need to check
@@martyterry506 check fuel pressure and high pressure oil pump output...
