I'd just like to add how pilot habits of checking everything (via checklist if possible) are incredibly useful in everyday life. That's especially true in medicine, where so many lives more would be saved if they (checklists) weren't so underused and mostly unknown as a tool. There's even a book about that (Checklist Manifesto).

It's hard to imagine how you keep the coffee from spilling. As a driver, my bottled drinks may be spilled everywhere due to bumps. But you can actually put the coffee cup on the ground. This is so cool
It’s not bad once your used to it. Peterbilts, and Kenworths mostly have all the gauges. Volvo’s don’t have much at all. There are 9 speeds, 10 speeds, super 10’s. 13, 15, and 18 speeds. Super 10’s and 18’s will have a gray splitter on the side of the shifter. 15’s are blue and 13’s are red. 9 and 10’s you don’t have the splitter you just have the low and high side. Which means if you’re driving a 10 speed and you start out in first gear it’s clear over to the left and down. Reverse is clear up to the left and up. So you go from 1rst up to 2nd, down to 3rd up and over to 4th, down to .5th. Then you lift the black button up now you’re in the high side. So you go back over and down to where first gear is now that’s 6th gear, then up and over to 7th, 8,9,10. I hope this made sense. A 9 speed is a bit different 1rst is up top then down to 2nd up and over to 3rd, down to fourth, split back up to 5th down to 6 up and over to 7th. Down to 8th gear. It’s considered a nine speed cause u have a granny gear. 13 speed is pretty much the same as a 9 speed as far as the shift pattern, but you use the little red splitter to split the high side. 18 you can split both the top and bottom. That’s used more for heavy loads, hills, etc... I know this probably didn’t make sense, but just trying to explain for new people.
bfry38 do you just know a lot about the trucks or are you a driver yourself? Also don’t apologize for feeling as though your explanation wasn’t put properly. It’s awesome you took the time to write for others to begin with.
bfry38 lol kinda embarrassing to say but gotta admit. Going on 20 years started in an old cabover KW, then a super 10 FLD and was running a 18 speed Mack thinking Mannnnnnn I’ll NEVER run a Volvo and especially not an automatic. 🤣🤣 Thought wtf and tried a Volvo 780 with the I-shift? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I gotta say 🤣🤣👍🏼 I fucking loved it. Damn blasphemous but damit if it wasn’t nice af after rolling through Chicago and my left leg still had strength in it.

Its a shame that it will be automated away with self driving trucks in the coming 2 decades.
@@Scythe1337 Like most jobs lol. They literally are working to automate cooks, surgeous, mechanics, and everything. That's the future. Fortunately for truckers the shippers don't own trucks and never will. They don't care who moves the freight long as it gets moved. So long as you're a owner operator you're good plus it should be fairly easy for a seasoned operator to be able to get one of those self driving trucks and put it on the road! Money gonna be so easy, maybe not for company drivers but hey. Oh well lol.
Hi Jeremy
Your truck is immaculate! You could eat off the floor! Love the all the lights on the dash and throughout the truck! Awesome ride!!

It's weird to see you praising him for something as basic as pretriping his truck. That's apart of the job. It's not optional. Any trucker that doesn't do it is both lying on his logging that he is and is also a menace on the road.

But you can actually put the coffee cup on the ground.
