Out there on the open road, truck drivers are the unsung heroes, rolling through miles like modern-day cowboys. This documentary pulled back the curtain, showing the real deal - these folks aren't just driving; they're out there weaving the story of our lives. Picture this: late nights, open highways, and these drivers keeping the whole show on the road. It's not just about hauling cargo; it's about being the backbone of our daily grind. Well coming from living in a dirt hut, drinking sewer water, sure, living in a truck is a dream. But for most Americans, living in a space smaller than a prison cell, being controlled by dispatch telling you to drive one shift during the day then putting you in two 10 hour breaks so you can drive the next shift at night, making it impossible to get a decent sleep schedule, fighting for parking no matter what time of day or night you stop, dealing with tyrant pigs, shippers/receivers/4 wheelers treating you like pond scum etc, it’s a horrendous way to make a living.
@@EyeForKnowledge. That's not true I used to do over the road and drive nights during the day I could park anywhere at the truck stop night is a different story however truckers are to blame because they throw their trash and piss bottles everywhere so places don't want them parking there
@@Az56818 I drove for three years and if you weren’t in the truck stop by 3pm, good luck. Especially if you were close to a metropolis. Even during the day, so many people are taking their 30, spots fill up quick with them. I can’t stand people throwing trash and piss bottles out of their trucks. I think those people are vile and disgusting. BUT….without the truckers, everything stops. Their businesses close, their vehicles cease to run and their stomachs become empty. And on top of that, the amount of money charged for everything at truck stops are so much higher than anywhere else, they should maybe take some of that money to hire someone to pick up the trash and piss bottles. If they’re littering their lots, it’s their responsibility to clean them. Because when you cease to find piss bottles and trash in your lot, you cease to have trucks and truckers. And if that happens, we are all screwed.
Man what a well put together film!! And for the dude kept on blowing them boat trailer tires, I’ve hauled boats for 20+years and blew many tires in my early days when used to haul ass!! 😅😅

I usually tell people that if they want to get into the trades to avoid this and the railroad becaude both are some of the most abusive and exploitative industries out there. Unless you can get a paid by the hour local job right out of the gate, don't bother getting a cdl because otherwise, you'll get used, abused and underpaid every step of the way, and if someone had told me that before i went to trucking school, i would've done something else because now until i get some more money to pay for school, I'm stuck!

Im one of truck operators in my country philippines. Truckers is the backbone of our industry and economic . Be proud to be operator ang truck drivers.
I'm a truck driver by myself but I'd never go on long distance. That's not for me. Just local driving in my semi and after 10 hours back to family and friends. Respect to those who literally live on the road and sleep in their trucks. I'd become depressed af
@NotSoAverageTrucker yes, as a local driver you gonna make less than someone who goes long distance. They might make more $ but literally sacrifice their entire social live. That's a decision that everyone has to make for himself. Here in Germany I make about 2300€ per month which is roundabout 2.5k$ after taxes. For me it's enough to live comfortably. I'm debt-free, just pay a small rent of 300 bucks/month for a two room apartment and have just a few small costs such as gasoline, food, Internet. It always depends on what kind of a living standard someone has. I can imagine that NY is quite expensive and you might have some other major costs. In this case I guess its not easy to find something what's financially satisfying. I can just speak for myself and I rather make some less 💰 every month, but in exchange I sleep in my own bed, use my own bathroom, have time to hit the gym and don't need to worry that my girl might starts something with someone else behind my back coz I'm never there. Long hauling is tough and don't get me wrong, I respect these people but it's an exhausting, lonely life which requires many sacrifices & for me it's just not worth it. But I wish you that you'll find a company with a good salary and work/life balance

I drove for 48 years and owned a trucking company for 22 years so I remember when truckers were like "cowboys".... BUT currently it is typical for truck drivers to crap in wall mart bags and drop it on the parking lot, piss in jugs which sometimes can't be helped but they leave the jugs either on your parking lot or the shoulder of the interstate... Common clothes worn are pajama bottoms and flip flops. The "drivers" have no to low skills and are a danger to all on the interstates. Don't tell me about kings of the road, the changes i've seen since 1969 are depressing. I sold out and retired 6 years ago and good ridance. If you want respect then act and do the job in a respectful way.
I feel ya...only rolling into my 12th year out here, and I cannot imagine the heartbreak you've experienced watching so much change during your time. I feel like automatic transmissions brought about all the people who don't have the heart in it but rather just a paycheck.

Love this documentary but I wanted to say at 5:03 regulations are there because you can't trust people. I'm sure this guy is great and I'm sure many drivers are great at making sure they are as safe as possible but the regulations are there because you can't trust the majority to do the right thing. It's the same thing I find in working in IT and other fields, for example a password policy. We would love for everyone to make sure they choose good passwords and not reuse them and some do! But the majority don't, so we have to put restrictions in place.
You seem like an intelligent person that could benefit from more info on the subject. First these regs are not new. What's new-ish is electronic tracking of it. Which when you know the other side you'd realize that's hazardous for everyone. Imagine that you need to do 650 miles to the next stop but because of traffic, or some other unforeseen issue you could only make it 635 "legally" and your next best option is 575 miles. Do you give up over an hour of pay (most already only make peanuts) so many don't/can't. This gets much more dramatic when an unloading schedule is involved. So, would the general public be safer with the CDL driver driving like an impatient asshole for 11 hours or the driver having the option to roll into the stop 15 minutes late and say he/she did it in 11? The later is not an option with electronics because of "safety". Keep in mind it doesn't take a high percentage of asshole truckers to make the roads frustrating and dangerous. BTW. Are you the reason I have to update my damn password every 3 months on a state website?!!!
@@sln9651 What is far more hazardous and dangerous for everyone on the road is the amount of truckers who used to keep 2 log books , 1 real and 1 fake , who would drive far too many hours and used beans (Speed) in order to stay behind the wheel far past the point of exhaustion .
@@shari9721 Well, those drivers still exist, just drive older trucks without disk brakes I might add. So I'd strongly disagree. I can clearly see a driver struggling to maintain a lane and react accordingly. 2 of the most dangerous and avoidable things are dominating truck driving now. ELD's in the name of ease and safety have the "unforeseen" side effect of forcing drivers to be in a hurry. Then laziness in the form of not knowing where you're going (figure out the directions en route). Give me the smaller percentage of capable but tired drivers over the high percentage of incapable drivers in a hurry. Truckers driving like a-holes makes cars even more aggressive. Then the truckers complain on the CB (if they have one) about the idiot cars. Not smart enough to see the cycle they (fellow bad truck drivers) help create!
I drive and without regulations, we would have all these bonehead drivers trying to drive coast to coast nonstop, like the old days! They already cheat the rules WITH regulations in place. So no, we cannot trust people to police themselves, thus ELD's and everything else which I fully support. Its usually the Trump type renegades who complain about everything that want the Wild West days back. THEY are precisely why we NEED regulation!
Father God, Hear the hearts of these truckers who provide a lifeblood of goods throughout the land, across the nation. Render them honour and sustain them and their families in righting the wrongs done to them and make good those who hire them, that they realize without truckers our lives would be far less. Bless them Father God, bring their hearts to receive Your Son Yeshua our Christ and increase them daily keeping them safe everywhere they bring abundant choices to citizens of this nation Amen!!!

[21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.✝️✡️
In EU we have rules about how long you must be behind the wheel, They was made because trucks was in many crash. I think it is very hard to let it be up to the driver to say how many hours they can take the wheel without sleep, Because so many Thing put pressur on them, the also takes care of them and the safty for others on the road.
''In EU we have rules about how long you must be behind the wheel,'' there's HoS (Hours of Service) in the US, which means you can drive up to 11 hours in a day
An event that no trucker would miss under any circumstances? Really? All the truckers in the entire country can't take off work and go to Florida at the same time for this event. Someone has to keep working. There might even be a few who don't want to go to the event.

I am a 3rd generation trucker and have been driving for 17 years. I love being a trucker!
This was a great program. Really enjoyed it 😊💪🏻💪🏻
I'm 22 and i got me CDL when i Was 19, been in the industry for 3 years and i hope to get out eventually.
God Bless the USA! Still the beacon of Liberty and Freedom. If you're willing to put in the work...anybody can have a good life! Proud to be an American.
GREAT DOCUMENTARY - totally immersive! well done!
Been OTR for almost 15yrs now and everytime i run into a punjabi driver those guys are awesome truck always clean very respectful just a bunch of good dudes
38 years Trucking, 32 as an Owner Operator Love it as much today, as when I started. OTR isn’t for everyone
Damn ol girl was sweating getting into that parking spot
Seems like a good ole pre trip inspection he would catch some of them problems with the boat 🤷🏻♂️
This was awesome to watch! Thank you so much!
Drove over the road for 8 years back in the 80s. What an experience seeing the country and meeting so many people. I learned about industry and agriculture and how this country works. There were not many women driving back then. I'll never forget the rig I drove hauling swinging meat out of Texas. It had three shifters! Took a little bit getting used to that. Lol.
Its mental determination and dedication
❤❤Love your sound-track. Great energy! ❤😊Thanks to the truckers (men and women) who keep us all going.
Shout out to the 20% Indian truckers out there. I love that they call america home. Living the American dream. Sacrifice, Grind, Out Work the competition. Rest takes care of it self.
Out working the competition??? Or out bidding ?? Big difference taking money out of our mouth for cheap freight then sending the money back across seas to make that triple 😂
@@damienmcdonald1634 If you cant figure out how to streamline your business then the competition will surpass. Besides AI and automation is around the corner. Tesla got EV semis Its gonna take a lot of peoples jobs but you gotta adapt.
20%? It's way more then that and most of them can't read an English sign.
I've been at it since 1999. Ain't no stopping now.
"is that even legal?" "Im not sure." freaking rockin a train horn lmao
Not shown is sleeping on a small fuel stop dirt lot with only coffee and donuts for breakfast. Parking overnight on deserted ramps with no bathroom. Driving day and night to get freight to arrogant rude shippers and receivers . Waiting on the street for 10 hours because the load is not there/not ready. Layover for a weekend in Wink, Texas. Spending 4 hours unloading and then driving like crazy to pick up a load that is not there.
And show them how beautiful America is 🫶
Very good documentuary. 💯
if you are only working 3 1/2days per week on long haul then its just a hobby i am Aussie before retirement my normal week would be 6 days of 14 plus hours this is true for most drivers
same for most of us.
Regulations😂 keeping ya all sleepless?
Enjoyed the video chap...Excellent...IOM(UK)

Wow wow
I drove for Gary. He was a cool dude. Hope he remembers the sacrifices I made during that time. Was honestly surprised to see him featured in this film.
It's funny,.. but that's how the USA, AND THE ENTIRE WORLD, started, sure it's not an easy road but when you love what you do,... it's worth the sacrifice and it's not really a JOB, so come on Driver's
and let's roll ❤🙏
Im one of truck operators in my country philippines. Truckers is the backbone of our industry and economic . Be proud to be operator ang truck drivers.
Truly insightful documentary. Enjoyed it!😊 James
Hey Gary !! I Love that song!!! Hey Man Keep On Trucking!!
0:27 No Truck in the USA can legally carry over 40 tons of cargo...
300 bucks for rent is crazy. you will pay around 1 thousand for a 1 bedroom apartment in america in most places.@@LuciferMorningstarOfficial
@@LuciferMorningstarOfficialI work in the oilfield here in Texas as a truck driver! Literally easy money! I make 120k with Hazmat as a company driver

LOOKS GREAT LIDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
56:50 hats off to a true American. Beautifully said. Coolest part about America (besides our nuclear arsenal) is that you can’t tell who’s American and who’s not. This man gets how awesome it is to be American. I’m proud to call him a countrymen. 🙌 🇺🇸
Owner: You talkn about my boat boi?!!! 😂😂😂
Thanks i was pretty close to joining it. My cousin says its an easy job but one major thing that makes me not wana be trucker is the extreme weather and dirty toilets!! Im doing culinary job
That will get us all going, thanks for the vid.
Can't wait to join the family
There’s no family here buddy, stay away
We don't need ballads written in our name...don't need to be heroes to anyone but our kids. We just need a respectable pay to go hand in hand with the sacrifice to our families( thank you my wife)and health. Happy( after 20 years) I got out of the USA system . The troopers...the scales... the Border...the aggravation and stress. Thank you for the 4am sun rises and for the bullshit too. Canada, with your potholes and NOT one TransCanada highway ...I'm yours ❤🇨🇦
The road goes on forever and the party never ends woop woop...
Best job I’ve ever had!!
😂😂
Try driving truck in Alaska. More money up here. You can also drive 15 hours/day and 20 hours on duty. 70 hour rule still applies
I’m interested. How much?
My husband runs a roadtrain here in Aust --- said doing that distance that boat should have been on a drop deck trailer it was bound to fail from the start
Been a Diesel mechanic for 23 years. When I first started. Met lots of husband wife teams who made 1m and had plans to retire. The late 90s and early 00s was the last of the money makers. If you want to drive. Do Garbage truck or local delivery.

Tony Justice. Any relation to Buford T. Justice?

In the US what is more common owner operators or contacted drivers?
I’m aware there is a few full time living in custom peterbuilts too!!
Amen you truckers keep them wheels turning i am retired now after 50 years but gald i am out of it now to much red tape
I might one day buy a truck once I'm retired.
Do long hall go and see the world 1 road at a time !
I have my air brakes now but no D or A license.
Gary better run 2 paper logs he's cutting it short with 1 😂
I drove for 48 years and owned a trucking company for 22 years so I remember when truckers were like "cowboys".... If you want respect then act and do the job in a respectful way.
those are mostly the ones that come from mexico, India and africa
I feel ya...only rolling into my 12th year out here, and I cannot imagine the heartbreak you've experienced watching so much change during your time. I feel like automatic transmissions brought about all the people who don't have the heart in it but rather just a paycheck.
Nice to replies from someone who gets it. Be safe out there. I still ride the roads but now in my buss. May cross paths with you.
Respect to all truck drivers
Also, seems like you pay more attention to your rig as apposed to your cargo.
It's most often the customers equipment that fails. We truckers can't afford it if our trucks have tire failures like that
This Trailer he hauls that Boat is like bigger Car Trailer!! Crazy what stuff u hook on Truck and haul such oversize. We in EU have special Trailers for that even smaller Boats, with hydraulic rear turn Axels with 4 Tires on Axle. they cary over 20 tons on 2 axle Trailer…This to see what u have is crazy.
Gary needs better tires...... Hope none of them damage the boat.
Also, who's going to turn in the trucker watching TV while driving???
Lydia is great 😊
Ive worked in Transportation for 7 years and the drivers are tbe most under appreciated and unpaid people that keep America running.. a week of no deliveries and itd be mad max. Customers have on demand product nowadays where its based on an algorithm for their order needs. No more days of storing large quantities of stock.
Truck drivers are paid what the market will bare, this is how a Free trade economy works.
Their not underpaid, wages are negotiable.
Hi Invertmini, good morning! 🥰 I hope my comment didn’t come across as intrusive. Your words reflect the kindness and beauty of your heart, which moved me to respond. Every single item we own got to us thanks to truck drivers
Apparently the Sikh fellow doesn't follow DOT regs.
That Lydia is a good baby, I tell you. She got ut, cooked breakfast, took her kids to school in the truck, grabbed her trailer, went and loaded herself.. (and ill continue watchin htis video from here lol)
I give her big props.
😂😂😂 Can't stop laughing. So much comedy

Three Words you never hear at a Truck Show ,
GOOD LOOKIN’ VOLVO !
Those are some beautiful trucks damn.
Be safe everyone out there 🙏
In EU we have rules about how long you must be behind the wheel,
They was made because trucks was in many crash.
I think it is very hard to let it be up to the driver to say how many hours they can take the wheel without sleep,
Because so many Thing put pressur on them, the also takes care of them and the safty for others on the road.
''In EU we have rules about how long you must be behind the wheel,'' there's HoS (Hours of Service) in the US, which means you can drive up to 11 hours in a day
not forgotten by real Americans
An event that no trucker would miss under any circumstances? Really? All the truckers in the entire country can't take off work and go to Florida at the same time for this event. Someone has to keep working. There might even be a few who don't want to go to the event.
'An event that no trucker would miss under any circumstances' IF they have time off, health okay and so on
I been a truck driver 20years, it's the last place in the world I would like to go.
I seen trucks all night and day every day for 20years, the exact thing I don't wanna see.
