My first live football match was at Hoffenheim 4 years ago. Been a fan ever since. People always laughed when I say I support them but look at them now. Proud of em
despite being a Bayern fan, I love watching Hoffenheim play this season and I thought many of their match results were well deserved, especially the 1-1 draw with Bayern in the first half of this season. Thanks for this video, it was a good summary!
Another brilliant video. Love the the similarities between Hoffenheim and my team Preston North End. We played that formation in our most recent promotion season - 3 centrebacks who each specialise in different things (one of whom scored 9 goals that season), 2 wingbacks with great stamina and pace to get up and down, a holding midfielder who mopped up, two CAMs who have the freedom to express themselves thanks to the solid unit behind them (21 goals between them) and two top L1 strikers (45 goals between them all season). Add to this a real squad togetherness that has us now pushing for the playoffs in the Championship despite a bottom-3 budget.
Wow, am I not the only one that notices that Hoffenheim's tactics (at least from this video) is very reminiscent to Antonio Conte's Juventus. 3-5-2 setup, Wing backs, possession oriented yet direct at the same time with the centerbacks pushing the ball to the strikers which lay it off to the midfielders immediately
Genuinely my favorite video of yours so far, I've watched it a number of times trying to understand every aspect of Nagelsmann's tactics (that you've explained). So interesting...
Zidane's tactics - Cross the ball into the box and hope some tall guy heads it into goal. I seriously don't know how he's been successful at Real Madrid but Rafa Benitez couldn't. I guess it's just down to the players' mentality........
Marcelo or Carvajal cross the ball to Ronaldo, Bale or Benzema hopefully that goes in if not a corner. Kroos cross the ball to Ramos and hopefully he scores. Repeat.
Arkasubhro Chatterjee rudy has no contract anymore and Süle is talented, German and has a better chance to get better with Martìnez, Hummels and Boateng 😂😍
Keshav R Even though you are right with what you are saying, this is a classic tu-quoque logical fallacy. There is a big difference in buying talented players from other teams and repeatedly buying the best players from the direct opponent. This has been especially true for Borussia Dortmund (see Hummels, Götze, Lewandowski) and is now repeated with Hoffenheim. I ask you: isn't it awkward to win the Bundesliga with the core of Borussia Dortmund?
I noticed that you don't show your godly hands as much when writing text during the video. I really liked seeing it everytime you write something. Other than that, it's an amazing video! :)
who will be the best coach for Barcelona next season? That's the big debate right now. Please do a video on this. BTW This channel is outstanding. The way you explain is mind blowing.
I like this guy. He seems to be truly progressive in his tactics while also playing a lil old school. I loved that bakers metaphor. I'll be sure to check them out, cause i didn't know Hoffenheim were playing such interesting and attractive football.
Naggelsmann's Hoffenheim has better tactics then Antonio Conte's Chelsea. Their performance and results might not be exactly at the level of Chelsea, but Tactic wise they are far too better.
Maybe a strange request, but could you guys do a video on Rosenborg Ballklubb and their 4-3-3 playstyle. With a pressing playstyle which looks like it will dominate norwegian football in the following years and has dominated norwgian football in the past?😁
Man, I really have a pet peeve for English narrators not prononcing V properly when it's a German one. They're really careful with Spanish z and ll (except in the curious case of Hector Bellerin) but the f sound of the v eludes them still. Great video, by the way
Thanks for this. Really wanted to know more about this fascinating team. +1 for Sampaoli, probably the most exciting manager in the game right now. Would also be cool if you could do a video on Zdenek Zeman
Thomas Tuchels Borussia Dortmund ? Plays really exiting and fast paced football with ball playing center backs. Also uses lots of different formations 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1, 3-1-4-2, 3-4-3, 3-4-2-1....
I noticed the strength of what I call the 'Forward Square' set up in FIFA for how much you can do once you have possession. I always thought it would be hard to implement in real life as you need versatile players, but if Nagelsmann can make it work, who knows how it will affect future team set ups? #3-3-4
It's always interesting to see who's the inspiration behind a managers philosophy. It'd be great to see a 'family tree' of sorts, going back and linking managers to their predecessors and such, if that's at all possible?
Not enough history to the game yet, it's possible to see the evolution of formations but as for creative managers inspiring each other I don't think a tree would be possible :(
Guys i want to suggest something! This might be a hard one but atleast try pls!!! Fenerbahce was the champions in 2013/14 season they were playin really good and offensive football they were unbeaten till january or so. We guranted to finished 1. At april!!! That was a insane season. Emenike, kuyt, sow really good attack. So i want to see Ersun Yanal(Fenerbahce's coach at that time) tactics. Thanks...
Planet Football Prescott-Chan well he changed formation from 442 to 4231 and changed philosophy as the game changed. Could also do a video on how he has fallen behind in recent years.
Can you do a special feature on long ball teams as its almost become an insult to teams? And feature two of the best long ball sides ever? the Ireland team that qualified for Italia 90 under Jack Charlton, and the Denmark side that won euro 92
Hi i love your Videos, they are great. I really love them. I am german and love how u talk about the german Football. You already did a Video about sweeper keeper but could u maybe do a Video how the game Change with a keeper like Manuel Neuer or ter stegen ?
Their "pendulum effect" was massively exposed by Liverpool recently. This formation can't really stand a chance against high pressing football from Klopp or Diego Simeone
Just gone back to the original Tifo 'whiteboard' podcast for this video. What does Joe Devine sound like lol. He should deffo bring back that voice for a new episode!
I know they are are a small -in comparison- team, but could you do Toronto Fc's Playoff push by switching their usual 4-1-2-1-2 to a 3-5-2 (5-3-2)? That would be awesome!
I had a fifa formation that worked on every difficulty even though I'm an average (at best) player and later realised it was the WM formation from many many years ago. Made me happy too :P
Hi Leshon JL - it's Alex, who writes the videos. I spend a lot of time reading various sites, World Soccer magazine, and watching games on TV. I make notes as I go, and then compare with what people are asking for on the channel to come up with script ideas. Hope this explains a bit, and thanks for watching.
Desperately needed at Arsenal due to his tactical flexibility as well as getting the best out of his players plus working with a relatively small budget, PERFECT FIT.
+uMAXit Football Hopefully, he's a great long term prospect and we know Arsenal love stability. although I cant see it happening in the upcoming season as I'm guessing he'll want to play Champions League football for at least a season witht the club he snatched from the jaws of relegation to 3rd/4th place, and it doesnt even look like Arsenal will be playing CL football next season. I also read somewhere (ESPN I think) that Arsenal are looking to bring in Hoffenheims sporting director Alexander Rosen, the man who brought Naglesmann to the club so this can only help if Arsenal are in fact interested in hiring Naglesman. If they are they need to act quickly as I'm sure there will be a plethora of clubs looking to secure his services.
I've said for ages now that Arsenal should play with a back 5 against top European teams and a back 3+2 against top PL teams. Most of the time our attack is as uninspiring and stale as Susan Boyle's vag. Wenger doesn't spice things up every now and then!
My first live football match was at Hoffenheim 4 years ago. Been a fan ever since. People always laughed when I say I support them but look at them now. Proud of em
I was dying laughing after their 3 Minute goal against BVB Dortmund
Its nice to watch videos about the Bundesliga, which I don't get a lot of exposure to. Love these in general as well.
Thanks buddy
despite being a Bayern fan, I love watching Hoffenheim play this season and I thought many of their match results were well deserved, especially the 1-1 draw with Bayern in the first half of this season. Thanks for this video, it was a good summary!
Wow i wonder why you are a bayern fan...
Yong Quan Tham unfortunately we wont see this great football next season when rudy ans süle go to bayern:3
He's now our coach!!!
Yet another great video. Can you do. Montella's Milan next
Yes please! the man is A classic tactician
naren padmanabhan agree

Thanks Ben. I particularly enjoyed working on this one myself - fascinating team.
- Joe
you should talk about possible weaknesses of the tactics as well
You should be signed up by a TV company like BT or Sky. Your understanding and dissection of the game is exceptional. Keep at it.
We do have a very good bunch of brains working on these. Thanks for the kind words - Danny
so much tactics for such a young manager
This guy will win trebles
Great Video 👍👍
That would be fantastic
He just might, with Bayern.
Great work. If you could do a tactical analysis of Sampaoli's Sevilla, that would be greatly appreciated
I am sure Sule and Rudy are off to Bayern in the summer..?
yeah they already signend the contract..
Yes u are very sure
they even got julian lmao
Another great video. How about we see Zidane's tactic with Real Madrid.
Michael Mc zidane tactics
get Ronaldo and bale in middle and cross the hell out of the ball through wingback Marcelo and carvajal.Only cross
Michael Mc no to obvious team
Michael Mc Nagelsmann is young, talented manager while Zidane has superstar player playing boring football.
Repeat.
how about a video on Leonardo Jardim's tactics at monaco this season?
This channel is becoming my favorite tactical one. Please keep up everything you do.
Can you do Sampaolis Sevilla?
Yes, I will add this to my list.
Håkon Tveit His tactics are suicidal but brilliant at the same time
Alex Stewart u are doing amazing work man🙏🏽
Thanks Neil!
I would pay for your content....seriously
Shame that Bayern ripped out their heart (Rudy) and steel (Süle) as is their policy.
Arkasubhro Chatterjee just like what they did to dortmund by buying best player..
Both players are needed by Bayern. Rudy is way more flexible than 50% of all Bayern-Midfielders, and Süle is one of the 3 best CB talents in europe.
Arkasubhro Chatterjee rudy has no contract anymore and Süle is talented, German and has a better chance to get better with Martìnez, Hummels and Boateng 😂😍
Awkward Asri as if Dortmund never bought players from other teams. they got reus bürki Sokratis toprak dahoud schurrle from other bundesliga teams.
Keshav R Even though you are right with what you are saying, this is a classic tu-quoque logical fallacy. The white board information in video, voice over and arrangement was bad in last couple of videos. Glad your calming voice is back 😌
Good to hear your beautiful voice again☺☺
I noticed that you don't show your godly hands as much when writing text during the video. I really liked seeing it everytime you write something.
Other than that, it's an amazing video! :)
Amazing video, as always! Please make one on the consistent rise and management of AFC Wimbledon next!
I would be intrested in seeing Sean Dyche tacticts at Burnley. Maybe compare home and away form as well.
Great Video, would love to see more about the Bundesliga! :)
Great Video bro, Can you do a series in which you tactically explain the tactics of the teams that has won the World Cup.. 20 in total..
This is a great idea - I'll add it to my list
Great video. Can you do Sarri's Napoli?
Please explain the tactics of Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa
who will be the best coach for Barcelona next season? That's the big debate right now. Please do a video on this. BTW This channel is outstanding. The way you explain is mind blowing.
Marcelo Bielsa tactics or Jorge Sampaoli please
I like this guy. He seems to be truly progressive in his tactics while also playing a lil old school. I loved that bakers metaphor. I'll be sure to check them out, cause i didn't know Hoffenheim were playing such interesting and attractive football.
Naggelsmann's Hoffenheim has better tactics then
Antonio Conte's Chelsea. Their performance and results might not be exactly at the level of Chelsea, but Tactic wise they are far too better.
More of these less-known tacticians please. Thank you.
Maybe a strange request, but could you guys do a video on Rosenborg Ballklubb and their 4-3-3 playstyle. With a pressing playstyle which looks like it will dominate norwegian football in the following years and has dominated norwgian football in the past?😁

I knew he is an amazing couch, but I did not know that he's so tactical
Couch?
Leo Saucedo coach*
Francisco Wu he also has a good relationship with his CHAIRman
Francisco Wu yes, he is an amazing *couch*
Please explain the tactics of manager-Leonardo Jardim at A.F.C. Monaco and Unai Emery at Sevilla F.C.
Sciencelover Yes! These 2 were really impressive in UCL round of 16, although monaco was beaten
There is still one leg to go.
Awesome video. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for this. Really wanted to know more about this fascinating team. +1 for Sampaoli, probably the most exciting manager in the game right now. Would also be cool if you could do a video on Zdenek Zeman

Do an analysis on RB Leipzig under Negelsmann
It's always interesting to see who's the inspiration behind a managers philosophy. It'd be great to see a 'family tree' of sorts, going back and linking managers to their predecessors and such, if that's at all possible?

Really love these videos, Can you do one on the evolution of Wenger's tactics through different eras of the Premier League?
Boulie1000 Don't think he's evolved much tactically 😂 evidently 😂.
Planet Football Prescott-Chan well he changed formation from 442 to 4231 and changed philosophy as the game changed. Could also do a video on how he has fallen behind in recent years.
Could you do a video on AS Monaco's tactics under Leonardo Jardim?
Could you do a video on Napoli's tactics under Maurizio Sarri?
These are great videos but maybe try incorporating actual game footage? Just an idea, one of my favorite series of UA-cam! Keep it up
Hi Emmanuel, thanks for your kind words! We're not legally allowed to include game footage If we did this, our videos would be taken down.
- Joe
make tactical analysis of Nuno Espirito Santo ( Wolves) and Brendon Rodgers (Leicester)
Can you do a special feature on long ball teams as its almost become an insult to teams? And feature two of the best long ball sides ever? the Ireland team that qualified for Italia 90 under Jack Charlton, and the Denmark side that won euro 92
brilliant, you're a wonderful human being
Guardiola's Positional Play or "Juego De Posicion" next please.
Emery's tactic is very underrated. You should explain it.
Can't deny, would love him to coach my team some day even though he's not exactly the coach that we'd hire.
Hi i love your Videos, they are great. I really love them. I am german and love how u talk about the german Football. You already did a Video about sweeper keeper but could u maybe do a Video how the game Change with a keeper like Manuel Neuer or ter stegen ?
Thanks mate, we'll bear it in mind!
Can you do one on Montella's Milan?
Their "pendulum effect" was massively exposed by Liverpool recently. This formation can't really stand a chance against high pressing football from Klopp or Diego Simeone

I know they are are a small -in comparison- team, but could you do Toronto Fc's Playoff push by switching their usual 4-1-2-1-2 to a 3-5-2 (5-3-2)? That would be awesome!
Great video, please could you do a david wagner (Huddersfield) version 😊
great video
