- A year after 11-year-old Nandi Bushell challenged Dave Grohl to an epic drum battle that captured the ears and hearts of millions during the COVID-19 shutdown, Nandi and the Foo Fighters frontman united onstage at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
“We’ve had the honor to jam with some pretty amazing people over the years,” Grohl mused to a fully vaccinated and/or COVID-negative audience at this week’s Foo Fighters concert.
Their live collaboration marks the highly anticipated culmination of a months-long virtual showdown that saw the two musicians trade wicked covers of various rock songs on social media.
Duly impressed by Bushell’s mad skills, Grohl invited her to join the Foo Fighters on tour as soon as live shows could safely resume amid the public health crisis. And this week, the former Nirvana drummer made good on his promise.
On cue, the band launched into a dynamic performance of “Everlong,” with Bushell on drums. Coincidentally - or not - “Everlong” is the first song the young percussionist from Ipswich, England, mastered for her internet face-off with Grohl.

In a world filled with bad news this gives gives me hope for humanity, when a little girl gets the moment of a lifetime to shine like the rockstar she is, Live in front of thousands of people. She will eternally be inspired by this moment and so will the band And all who are watching…that dreams sometimes Really Do Come True!

The confidence in front of a 17,000 crowd is astonishing, and she could certainly back it up as well. The 1/16 note two-stick timing on the hi-hat has machine-like precision, and the passion she gets into the chorus figures is brilliant. She really drove that song and it's difficult to believe that such power, stamina, and skill all came out of that tiny frame! I've seen other drummers who are at the same age with a similar skill level but they don't play with that strength of feeling. Wonderful!

I have seen numerous versions of this performance including the one by her dad and although there are more young people doing song covers in there homes, nothing compares to Nandi taking control of a live performance on the drums like she did here. You can see Pat and the rest of the band holding bsck at the beginning to see how she would premform with an audiencs but then letting go realising that Nandi on the drums was taking the lead and doing a real live performance.

@@bimble7240 Not surprised. Kids haven't developed the battle scars that we develop in to adulthood. They can take to most things without fear as they aren't worried about being judged etc
