Roadrunner vs Rodent

- I followed a Roadrunner while it was hunting at Sweetwater Wetlands. I got to see it capture a rodent which I think is a Kangaroo Rat. Have you ever wondered what Roadrunners eat? Here's one example. Usually I see them with lizards.
I now have a shop with animal and nature images on shirts and totes at Amazon Merch On Demand. It can be found here. www.amazon.com/s?rh=n%3A71411...
Although I have had a couple of Print On Demand stores for years at Redbubble and Zazzle, I now have one at Spreadshop that's attached to my channel. It has animal and nature images on shirts and things and can be found here. / ingasnaturevideos
My Zazzle store is here. www.zazzle.com/store/ingasi/?... - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
I posted a new video with a Roadrunner with a Lizard on a roof calling. ua-cam.com/video/Jwgo-H5ibWk/v-deo.html I had never heard one make this particular call before. I think it was calling for its mate.
That's todays Velociraptor in action !
Great Vid
This is my first time ever seeing a roadrunner before at 54 years old. Now, if I could see one live, would feel accomplished.
Saw my first one up close Tuesday afternoon, June 14, 2022.
In the desert SouthWest.
Encountered this dude while he was strolling the sidewalk
of a large open air shopping mall.
Reaction was "Holy Shit", is that a Velociraptor?
But it was too small, and they're extinct, so knew it was a bird.
Never seen one with a tail that long or a crest (blue).
One of the most striking looking animals
I've ever laid eyes on.
A lady soon walked by.
She identified the rascal as a Road Runner.
Said she had worked at the salon on the premises,
and the Roady would walk in every day, in the morning,
apparently to say hello to the stylists.
He would then head out to hunt.
Not as crazy as it sound.
These birds are very smart and social.
You can see UA-cam videos of them
entering people's homes.
Anyway, got a few pics of him on my cell phone.
A visit to any zoo in the southwest should be on your bucket list.🤪😂
They are all over Albuquerque! Cool bird for sure. Especially when they coo coo.
Oh, no! He ate Speedy!
Meep meep
There was only enough room for one speedster.
Perhaps he should be called speedy
andale andale arriba ari.. gloop!
You can say that again he freakin beet speedy to death
Until this video, I thought Roadrunners were 4 feet tall and went "MeepMeep" but nope. I had no idea they went after mice. Such a cool bird.
Edit: Speedy Gonzales might be in trouble.....
They're viscous. I've seen them raid robin nests and take chicks right from the parents.
I guess the roadrunner would also like to eat rice and corn just like pigeons
@@Snake-sg7yc nah
They’re carnivores
Basically mini velociraptors
2:09 what the heck was that 🤣
🤣 let loose!
I am studying these and this video helped a lot! It taught me the tail movements and how he uses his tail to balance
That's awesome! Thanks for the info about the tail movements being for balance.
You mean the positioning of the tail or the up and down movement ?
Imagine an episode of the Roadrunner cartoon where it is the Predator instead of the prey
That one SFM video did that
I didn't know roadrunners were such great hunters.
Up until watching this video I thought roadrunners ate seeds, went MeepMeep and out ran coyotes
What a meal that little fella got! I love road runners such interesting birds
Yep. I usually see them with lizards or grasshoppers.
I am scared of the Roadrunner now
Awesome.
I love this little bird, they eat mice, snakes and all things in between. Very good to have along, be nice to them.
It’s amazing you got this video! A lot of work and patience!
If an asteroid hits the earth, I bet that guy makes it through.
A true survivalist BadAss.
Rodent, the Road Runners after you.
Rodent, if he catches you you're through
That Road Runner is an efficient killing machine. It requires the skill to stalk and surprise your prey with all quickness.
Huh, I thought they just drank Cactus Juice and ate Bugs, had no idea they went after mice too. They are also surprisingly calm, not very skittish.
They eat hummingbirds
w h a t
And rattle snakes.
Lizards too.
MAN, THE REFLEXES OF THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE ! NOT TO MENTION EYESIGHT ! THEY SHOULD BE TURNED LOOSE IN ALL THE CITIES FOR PEST CONTROL.
😭😂😭😂 I just imagined a flock of Road Runners tearing through the Bronx!
Lol,,,around hunts point 😂😂😂😂
@@DirtyBronxNative172 Straight up fam! Hunts point has forever been in need of pest eradication. I vividly remember driving with my family as a kid in the mid 80's under the Bruckner and seeing all sorts of vile beasts, rodents and feral humans. Shit was raw back then.
This is the people that clicked the video because the looney toons show
👇
I all of a sudden have to clear my throat!
Well that was delightfully gruesome.
I can only imagine how scary it would be if that bird was the size of a deer.
I think you should write the screenplay for a movie. :) It would probably be too scary for me though.
@@IngasNatureVideos I can´t, i m not a horror film typa guy too.
They did, its called Jurassic Park 🤣
It seems as if this bird knows it very well that it has to show its hunting skills on camera, so that it's fans can see how well it is doing.
Great video. Let nature do all the of the talking
Thanks! Yes, I love the stories nature tells.
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing!
I flipping love dinosaurs.
I bet wilie is hiding around the Bush with an acme killing machine😂😂
I'd say kangaroo rat based on the tail. Great video!
Thank you for the clarification.
The cutest of the rats
He savored that catch...lol
Fortune favors the patient. The footage captured a very interesting scene including a lightning prey hunting. Roadrunner is very unique among bird family. Somehow it looks more like reptilian or mammalian in its behavior/locomotion. (As a descendant of a lineage of dinosaur/theropod). Slow movement of tail feathers frequently seen here, an elegant form of terrestrial locomotion markedly different from other birds on land. Center of mass is fluctuated in a very limited range without head bobbing. Its relatives dexterously clinging on trees with zygodactyl foot, that finds another utility unexpectedly on firm ground. Nature tricks! Thanks for uploading.
hello i realy love this roadrunner
Good filming. That was cool. 👍🏻
Perfect depiction of dinosaur ve mammal
Velociraptor
Meep meep
Hello videographer. Lucky shot!!! Deadly strike. Thanks for sharing.
That's frickin DOPE!Never seen one up here in northern california.i might have a few times but they could have just been birds kicking up dust in the bike lane
..they are to fast for ur eyes..meepmeep
I never thought he love to eat speedy gonzales
When mice in your house as big as cat😑
It was a Kangaroo Rat
The junk food of the animal kingdom 🐁 😂
Cool shot man! What an interesting creature!
Thanks! Roadrunners are such fascinating creatures.
Roadrunners also eat rattlesnakes.
Nice Job ! Cool !
Thank you!
Yep, Kangaroo rat. It has a bushy tail tip. There's lots of them in the desert.
My favorite animal 🥰
Wow he's not going to need food for a month.
Wow, down the hatch😂😂😂😂😂😂
Was he going for mouse #2 at the end?
Yes, I believe he kept hunting.
Super quick
That birb was fast!!
Oh! , very sweet very sweet .
No, that was slow poke Rodriguez .😆😆😆😆😆
Impaled by a modern-day velociraptor then swallowed whole to be slowly digested alive.
People: Oh how lovely.
Mouse: Nature's a bitch.
В здоровом теле - здоровый дух. Мыша съела только хвост мелькнул. Но ожирение калифорнийской кукушке точно не грозит, да она много ест но и шустрит не меньше.
I see your shadowww 😏 5:11
And btw, how did u get so close to one to film it? You’ve befriended the birds 😮🐦
My camera has a nice zoom that lets me get closer than I actually am. I think the roadrunner was VERY focused on its hunting although it definitely knew I was there. I do feel like the animals get more tolerant of me the longer I do this but it also helps that Sweetwater Wetlands is popular with people so the animals get pretty used to us. :)
Crystal Knight Roadrunners are so brave and so curious. Truly awesome, velociraptor like savages. Where I live, they truly don’t see humans as threats. Although, I’m not sure that see much as threats.
So they don’t eat millet. Dang you Warner Bros
They dont chew!
down the gullet @3:05
Australia is home to the coolest animals!
It sure is! So is Arizona which is where these animals are.
they are rather cute
They remind me of a Velociraptor
Anyone working on a plan to catch the Road Runner?
Rats can be delicious with just a little hot sauce though 😎
Wtf
Que preciosas aves hizo Dios Dios los bendiga todos
meep meep
Poor Speedy Gonzalez
Where's the road dent for the roadrunner?
hermosos animales un gran depredador
Willie: ( holds a sign ) *and I thought he was a vegan*
My buddy bird is very smart.
Wile E. Cayote is the one using the camera.
We have roadrunners here in st george utah
One the many beautiful creatures our Great God has made
God was like: hey does anyone remember velociraptor? Let’s just make it again but with wings so it can *F L Y*
It's 2020 bro...
@@wowowowzzz Yes, and God is still very much alive.
Ate that sucker whole.
I would have sprinkled some garlic powder first.
Does anyone knows what the constantly up and down move of the tail purpose is ?
That's a good question. I tried googling it and couldn't find much or couldn't pinpoint the term to search for. A comment was just added talking about them using the tail for balance. Sounds likely to me.
@@IngasNatureVideos It still doing it when it stops moving. I thought it was something more about getting excited by the approaching meal. But it still did it after the swallowing. So it's gonna still a mystery for the moment.
Wow!
Thanks Jo! This Roadrunner definitely made my time following him worthwhile.
Having spent a total of only ten days in Arizona, I have the barest smidgen of Roadrunner footage. But I long to do a movie about him. I'll find a way eventually.
Roadrunners are so awesome and I find them to be very unique among birds in both their looks, vocalizations and behavior. It is a joy every time I see one. I find them to be somewhat comical and very tolerant of humans. I hope you get to come out here again sometime. If you ever need suggestions of places to see some unique Arizona wildlife, please let me know.
I know what you mean about them being comical, Inga: it's one of the reasons I want to make a movie about them. Comical subjects make for entertaining narratives. And I appreciate your offer to help me find good filming spots in Arizona, because I'm hoping to get back there within the year. So, as my newly minted expert on Arizona birds, let me ask you a couple of questions. Do you know what the wren was getting out of that saguaro? It's some kind of fruit--berries? I also have two questions about cacti. First, is there a term for the needles on a cactus? Trees have foliage; is there a similar term for cactus needles? AND is there a term for what I think of as leaves on a cholla cactus? When the wren sits down on one of those ... projections, what should I call that thing he's sitting on?
That was the fruit of the cactus that had split open. It was eating the red juicy fruit inside. I would call the needles "spines". They are modifies leaves. I have been quite surprised at how easily the birds and squirrels maneuver around the spines while feeding. Although on two separate occasions I have seen insects impaled on a cactus spine. Here is some information about cactus spines. www.birdsandblooms.com/blog/why-are-cacti-covered-in-spines/
Hey, that’s me! 😃
I thought they only eat bird seed
Roadrunners are omnivores. I often see them hunting prey. Usually it's small lizards or insects like grasshoppers. They are even capable of hunting rattlesnakes.
Beep Beep!
LOL
Speedy run roudrunner meep meep
Roadent
Looks tasty
Now if she'd done like a heron would and dipped the small furry animal in the water then it would've slid down more easily due to the reduction of fur friction.
the is birt he has misterio i'm working in country El Salvador and the other one from visiting working I'm my comments Saúl Guerrero bendiciones God bless
Más efectivo que un gato
McDonald's could learn from this bird.

Best camera is used for video. But alien videos are not so good.

Si pollo arrosto!
Beep, beep!
Nice video it is strange to capture Kangaroo Rat because they are nocturnal .Maybe the rat was scared by another predator ( snake) from its burrow.
Yeah, it's too bad we couldn't see that part.
❤☺️
Good virl
That's one less rat for our kung pao.chicken
