Thank you so much! Our 2022 Silverado LT has a panel that’s the full tailgate so we had a heck of a time getting that off when it’s closed. Your instructions were golden. It took a while to get it to manually release but it eventually did.
Thanks for this video man. I called 5 dealers none of them had the answer except to bring it in for diagnostic a $180 charge. I needed to hook up to my gooseneck and was heated on the call. Thanks
Thank you brother! Fortunately I found your video prior to going full blown nuclear! We were taking the tailgate off to load our camper for the first time (2024 Chev LTZ Duramax) when we accidentally let the left side latch catch….no opening was going to happen until we stumbled across your video! Thanks again and God bless, Craig and Laura
Thank You.....This has been driving me nuts and yours is the first video that I found that addressed the issue. I have a bed cover but luckily left the cover unlocked to where I could still get in the bed. Gonna try this when I get home!
This will happen when I'm loaded and can't get out the screws on the panel. But the info is still great, seems like a manual override would be pretty easy to fab, some aftermarket guy will do it because these switches fail. Thanks again!
Great info. On a working unit pressing twice and hold on the second press on keyfob will raise the tailgate btw. Have to keep holding till closed. Same with the button inside the cab.
This happened to me a week ago. The issue resolved itself after a couple of hours of driving. Wiggled it, I don’t know. I didn’t think to remove the cover. Thanks for the information!!
Thanks for the video. 2019 mine works intermittently and I have a cover so can’t access when cover fully closed. Was just at dealership for something else very pricey and the guy said it would be $200 just to diagnose (no repair) just diagnose I said oh no. Guess I’ll dig into it and come up with something when I get truck back. Need my bed to stay locked if possible. Thanks again
Had mine fail today. Golf clubs locked under tonneau 10 minutes from T time. I called Chevy dealer - no idea on how to help - said to bring it in. After 15 minutes of clicking FOB, Tailgate button and interior button and starting and restarting truck - it finally worked. Now I don't dare to close tonneau. I also had another problem with electric tailgate. In the winter the tonneau cover froze to the tailgate. There is no way to get any leverage without a handle to break the ice between the tailgate and tonneau. Give me a handle!
Mine wouldn’t open. Put it in drive then back to park. Started working. I got suspicious when I got nothing but chimes when trying to activate. Seemed to me it was thinking it wasn’t in park or something. Anyway, worked.
Thanks for the video. Most knowledgeable one I've seen so far. Mine is doing something a bit different. Mine will release with the button on the back of the tailgate but not with the fob or the button inside the truck. It will not totally latch when I manually lift the tail gate. Any idea on how to reset one that is doing this?
You know we're a fallen society when something as simple as a tailgate has to have a motor to lower and raise it. This has to be on the list of the height of laziness. And then people wonder why the U.S. is falling through the floor. Absolutely zero sympathy on such a society.

Saved me a trip to my dealership. Took less than 5 min to fix mine with your video. You rock!!!
Hope it works for good now !

I’m glad it helped. I was nearly “nuclear” as well

I was worried what would happen if I had bought that locking bed cover.
Let me know if it helps

I think I would take a manual handle in a heartbeat

Thank you!!!!! Been driving me bat shit crazy and haven't had time to get the recall fixed for it!
Glad to help my man

I hope that’s all the trouble you have out of it
Did this fix the tailgate issue not locking and dash saying tailgate open?
Great info I also have a LTZ glad I stumbled across your video. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
something so simple made so complicated
Amen!!

It’s a frustrating issue!
I ordered a new hd 3500 this week...couldnt believe they dont offer a manual tailgate any more...
It’s one of those “upgrades” I would have gladly did without
Thanks!! I shall try that tomorrow!
Ill be back to let you know if that was my problem.
Please do!
Appreciate your video thank you
Hope it helps
the key-fob will close it! Click the gate button twice but on the second click hold it down and it will close!
Didn’t work for mine - not button on gate, dash or key fob worked until I got it reset
Thanks for info, my problem is not able to close gate w/ power.
Will keep looking.
Ok, best of luck with your truck

That’s good to hear
Thanks for the vid.

Did you find the pins on each side and pull them together

No clue on that, sounds like a short possibly. Best of luck but I would be at dealer for sure

It’s a feature for nothing. Heck, have it but at least let me have a handle
I miss the old tailgate hate what trucks have become you need a dress to drive one now
It’s definitely over complicated
Got a cover on the back it open then it wouldn’t open I dunno what to do now
I had a little bit of issue until I grabbed both of them simultaneously and pulled them toward each other. Then it popped right open. Best of luck.
Now if you have a tonneau cover.................
You’d be screwed
Not getting the panel off with a camper and its closed..fuck this new gabage!
Man I was just saying “what if someone had camper or bed cover “!!
@@BuzzCutsFirewood mine just stopping working off the gate button and dash but opened with fob.
Now im scared to close it again.
Getting a service gate message
It failed to power close twice today but worked once.
Having this issue on the 2024 Chevy Silverado. Such a bad design.
It’s a design flaw for sure
