  • In this video we explore our home charging setup with 2 EV chargers. We show you our two Tesla wall connector units, explain how they are setup in a power share configuration, show you the accessories we use, and also discuss our Sense home energy monitor briefly as well. The cool thing about this is that we only have a 200 amp service at our home. No service upgrades necessary!

I believe 2023 NEC and the Tesla Universal Wall Connector both allow for multiple EVSEs on a single branch circuit now. Tesla just hasn't updated their Gen3 instructions yet.

Clipper Creek has a dual charger which you only need one circuit for. A bit pricey though. There are also 14-50 splitters like Neocharge out there to plug in two chargers but I get sketched out by their robustness to handle such long continuous draws.

They are both decent options depending on the scenario. I always try to avoid 14-50 outlets as it's an additional failure point. I have seen many of the melt over the years. Sometimes though... Like if one is renting... The only choice is a 14-50.

This is great but I need this to go into more depth. My wife and I are getting EVs this year. Her a PHEV and me a full BEV. We want to have this kinda setup but everywhere I research I’m told it’s not possible.

We have 2 EVs but share our one charger.

@@dianewallace6064 yup that’s obviously the most common way to do it. The thing is my wife and I have different schedules and needs and we’re really bad with things like this if it’s not dead simple. So remembering to switch and plug in on x day or that time or whatever is a lot so we want to make it as easy as possible and this seems like the solution

That's a nice feature to split power; I may need to do something like that if we get our R1S in the next couple months. I've pretty much maxed out our panel with electrifying our house (mini splits, solar, car charger) so splitting power is a great solution!

      Go for it!

You can use a load management device such as the Tesla Neurio meter which will ensure you don't overload your home service when you're running the Tesla
      Wall Connector.

Thanks for the info. I will add the Neurio meter to the list. amzn.to/3STGWUH

We have 2 EVs and one charger. My husband is retired and can charge in the day. Our state North Carolina and Duke Energy offers no discount for charging during peak hours. I don't need to charge every night.

That works. Our utility (Potomac Edison) offers an incentive for off peak charging but you either have to have an EnelX JuiceBox or a chsrgepoint home flex charger. They now support Tesla, Toyota, and Lexus via Smart car (works with any charger) but they don't support Rivian yet even though Rivian is integrated with Smart Car service. I have been bugging them to support it. It's 2 cents per kwh rebate and if both of them use 1500 kwh we are talking about $30 a month. Not really worth all the trouble of swapping chargers. I really like how the Tesla chargers work.
