Must, must, must watch the Live at Ronnie Scotts version. It is totally amazing!! This is my favorite guitar instrumental!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
@@poloreacts27 Polo ✌️ baby. I just learned dude was a pervert. Glitter rock n roll. Sorry 😔 got me moving!!! How about wild thing? I do appreciate you ❤️ life kinda sucks right now ❣️ you're my best Rx ❣️
This came out the year I broke up with my first true love. It floors me to this day. Jeff Beck makes the guitar cry, protest, scream in frustration, and then cry again with such tangible realism. I have been and always will be in admiration of his work. Jimi Page said Jeff Beck has died, and left us here mere mortals.
The spaces between the notes are just as important as the notes played. That point is often overlooked by some. He really was skilled at evoking a mood.
The tune was written by Stevie Wonder and given to Jeff Beck as a sort of consolation after Wonder's label prevented him from giving Beck the tune he had originally written for J.B. - Superstition, which they had rightly predicted could be a huge hit as done by S.W.
That's a really fascinating bit of trivia. I can only imagine what Beck would have done with it.

Jeff Beck was the master guitarist all the legends look up to, the album Wired is just fantastic. His passing was unexpected and kind of shocking... RIP Jeff, your legend goes on, the music keeps playing!
As good as Wired is, Blow by Blow is the better album.
The Jeff Beck hole goes deep, Polo. And it is worth every second you spend going down it. Simply the most accomplished of all the great English Axe slingers. It begins and ends with Jeff Beck. Guy was touched by the Muse.
When you've loved Jeff Beck for decades, like me😀, I got goosebumps from the first note. Every guitar legend credits Jeff Beck as being one of the Masters. Please delve deeper, you won't regret it.
It's crazy that one day Jeff Beck was fine playing gigs with Johnny Depp. He caught a bacterial infection that killed him really quick. So sudden, so sad
Jeff was The One. The Live at Ronnie Scott's version of this is pretty special.
Yes with Tal Wilkenfield
I really thought the Ronnie Scott's performance was a career high water mark for Jeff. He's always been among my favorites but that particular series of nights was indescribably good. I may take it back later, but right now I'm going to say I enjoyed it every bit as much as I did Band of Gypsies
@roma8111
And Vinnie Colaiuta -
I don't think drumming gets more enjoyable. That entire show, played out over several nights, is, for me, bigger than Woodstock in terms of musical significance. And, yes, Tal.
I wish every reactor worth his or her salt would take on the gems of that musical celebration.
RIP Jeff Beck.
The version played at the crossroads festival, also Beck, Tal Wilkenfeld, Vinnie Cauliato and Jason Robello is great.
Yes Tal Wilkenfeld is a phenominal bassist!
He really was a genius on the guitar
Jeff Beck is not like any other guitarist. He’s got his own magic. From the first few notes, you know who this is. I just loved him at first listen, probably about 50 years or so ago. Saw him live not long after I graduated from high school. Thanks for reacting to this one, Polo. Glad you enjoyed it, even if it took a few times.
Blow by blow is the LP that brought Beck to the American audience. It's jazz-blues-rock flavor hit a market, largely based on the airplay of the Beatles She's a Woman cover.his technical master and lyrical stylings on his Stratocaster caught enough people's attention to enable him to develop a solo career. He never had long term relationships with his band members, but every time he moved to a new place he reconstructed a band filled with great, and inspired musicians. If any newbie fans want to watch a good example of his virtuosity and the musical caliber of his band check out live at Ronnie Scott's.
The song was dedicated to Roy Buchanan, another guitar legend (RIP). No one was comparable to Beck, so influential, so musical, so lyrical, so unique, so rude sounding and a rocker at the same time. And a long long career where he never stagnated, always evolved.
Jeff Beck's song "Roy's Toys" was (somewhat obviously) dedicated to Buchanan, as well. It's unfortunate that Buchanan passed as early as he did, but Jeff Beck did a damned fine job of "keeping the flame lit" for ol' Roy. People who know Buchanan's work can clearly hear Beck's respect for him in his work.
I loved Roy Buchanan. Had a H.S. classmate who played guitar in the jazz band at school that turned me on to him. I saw him live twice. The second concert was in a smallish club in Denver ((Mercury cafe). I met Papa John Creach when we first walked in & sat down. I played Roy all through me College years. Roy's playing was very distinctive. Jeff being Jeff, took note & incorporated some of Roy into his arsenal. No one will ever surpass Jeff Beck in technical ability, style, inventiveness, skill or love of his craft. The guy practiced 2-4 hours ever single day of his life.
Definitely one of my all time favorites! Blows me away..
Simply magic when Jeff played. RIP JB
Instant thumbs up for this amazing song. So evocative.. transports you to a different place. 💜
An absolute master class in how to pull different tones from one guitar.
I've been following your channel for over a year and this reaction caught me off guard. Jeff was a very special musician. Thank you so much - this is my Dad playing keyboard with Jeff, he was on Blow by Blow and Wired, two of Jeff's jazziest albums. Makes my heart burst listening to them all play. The first time Dad met Stevie Wonder, he was actually the support act for Jeff, sounds crazy but it's true. They all spent a lot of time together and Dad was in the studio as Stevie created 'Superstition' Jeff told him he wanted something funky and then the magic happened. So many cool stories around that era. Jeff was innovative and always evolving, he played life no-one else.
I saw Jeff Beck perform this song in concert in 2018. He is a true guitar god.
What a master! RIP Jeff! No one sounded like you! Such feeling! Live you were crazy good!💜
Beck one of the legends his style is like no other.
This whole Lp is phenomenal!
Love Jeff Beck❤🔥🤘🎸So Great 🎉 Thank you 😊 Love your reaction and your channel 💯👍✌️🥰YOU ROCK🌟
Legendary musician!!
Jeff Beck “she’s a woman” (live version) is probably my favorite guitar solo by him. It’s also the best he’s ever sounded, imo, because he’s playing a Les Paul and the tone is NUTS. It is impossible to top Jeff’s feel. You have to play many years to fully appreciate the tones he’s able to pull from his instrument with little to no effects. There’s a reason the legends called him a master.
Jeff Beck was one with his instrument. The finest electric guitarist of his generation.
I grew up in the 80's in the country, having only the radio. I do not recall hearing Jeff mentioned over the radio, and not until UA-cam did I hear about him. One solo gatarist that got a lot of airtime in 1987 was Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien. Radio back then rarely played rock solo instamentals.
He's one with his Guitar 🎸
Jeff was absolutely unique. He could make his guitar sing like no one else, and was my favorite from the time I discovered him (at about this point in his career) until he passed away last year. For a better appreciation of his hot side, check out Scatterbrain from his Live At Ronnie Scott album; for another emotional song with incredible technique, try his cover of Nadia. I'd always recommend a live performance if you can find good video, as it's hard to appreciate just what he's pulling off with just your ears.
Greatest guitar player of all time.
And who spends 55 years at the top of the game.
This tune is when he was still playing notes.
When he started playing sounds he became unique.
Boy he was good.
I suggest put on " Guitar Shop"and listen to the whole album..
The contrast is remarkable.
Dude could play.man.
An awesomely beautiful piece of music by a Master, Jeff Beck, dedicated to Roy Buchanan, a guitarist worth checking out, "Filthy Teddy" is a great instrumental & his "The Messiah Will Come again" will take you away on a musical journey.
The guitarist's, guitarist.
RIP Jeff. A great visionary
Simply the best guitar song ever!!!
If ever there was a case of "You never know what you've got 'til it's gone" it's us British kids growing up in the sixties. We had the Stones, Beatles, The Who and The Kinks, which I suppose we should be forgiven for being content with. But few now applaud the Yardbirds, the band that saw Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page follow each other as lead guitar between 1963 & 1968. Oh, did I mention that Jimi Hendrix was playing clubs in Soho at the same time? If ever the phrase "Golden Generation" meant anything... how lucky we were.
It’s all of us who grew up in the 60’s. We took all the great music for granted….just didn’t realize it would quit being written some day.
The master! I bought this album when it came out and it blew my mind.
Just beautiful.......................
When I saw Jeff play live, he was so hypnotizing, I forgot about the pocket full of doobies that I brought to the show
There are better songs from Jeff Beck. He is really a legend. Among the elite
This has been one of my favs since it came out on his Blow by Blow album. Never gets old…
Just a gentle sway 😌 get grandma dancing ❤
aahhh yes, made my day Polo! Thanks! Keep On! btw, as others have mentioned, the Live at Ronnie Scotts is an Incredible dvd/concert...and some of the attendees are legends in their own right, def worth a watch/listen...
one thing you need to understand about Jeff beck ,if you listened to 100 different recordings of him performing a particular song you would hear 100 distinctly different versions of the same song. 2 examples for your listening pleasure, 'cause......lovers' live at Ronnie Scott's and if you are able to track down the unedited version ( won't be easy) at royal Albert hall , a benefit concert, playing infront of the queen , 'secret policemen's other ball' ! this one I believe is the best!
I listen to Jeff beck when i was a teenager. love his music. he definitely can play 😊 my dad was a d.j. a long time ago. Rip dad ❤ .....so we were introduced to many types of music.. its the one thing im so glad my dad always shared his love for music.. john lee hooker hes blues but man i love his music to my dad enjoyed him to ❤ ... again nothing like having so many options when listening to any type of music 🎶 🎵 ❤
To fully appreciate the genius and beauty of Jeff Beck's instrumental recording of this Stevie Wonder song, I think it is helpful to hear the original version sung by Syreeta Wright. The lyrics tell a bittersweet story which Beck communicates on guitar beautifully.
Check out the live version at Ronnie Scotts with Tal and Vinnie..
That's the version I was hoping for when I saw the title. That live performance was really great.
I ended up grabbing Tal's solo album after seeing her performance and it has some great tracks.
Jeff Beck was incredible! The whole "Blow By Blow" album is amazing, as is his "Wired" LP.
Another great guitarists: Robin Trower. Check out his "Bridge Of Sighs" (1974 UK TV Appearance) video on YOU Tube. A most excellent version of that song! Crank it up!
Actually, the entire Bridge Of Sighs album is an award winner, and should be taken as a whole. So please indulge!
Jeff Beck was the GOAT.
There was a comment that asked about the gadget behind Polo, but it's gone.
It's sold as a Kinetic Energy Sculpture.
The song is for me is conveying the emotions of going through a romantic break up.
if you watch the movie Blow Up the main character goes to a backroom concert where the Yardbirds are playing "Stroll On" with Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page on guitar... Beck's Amp isn't working properly and he gets so frustrated he breaks his guitar and throws it into the crowd... UA-cam: The Yardbirds - Stroll On (OST BLOWUP 1966)
Jimmy is laughing at Jeff in the movie. I'm sure it was genuine and they just decided to include it. Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck grew up in adjoining neighborhoods and had known each other since their early teens. They were only in the Yardbirds together briefly. Jeff kind of left Jimmy hanging with the band when he left so Jimmy tried to pick up the pieces and keep contractual commitments, then... "New Yardbirds" which became... Led Zeppelin. Worked out pretty well for both of them I think.
Thank you.
Anyone noticed the metallic object on his left perfect dancing to the song...
All I can hear is the main riff from Careless Whisper. Plus the outstanding guitar obviously.
My favorite song 😢
Just me and you baby 😂
I have supreme confidence in stating this: your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist was Jeff Beck. He is for connoisseurs. He, Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt, and Sabicas would be on the guitarists Mt Rushmore.
He obviously knows what a southern-bluesy-soft rock tune should sound like!
I'm familiar with his name, and I bet he's contributed... or consulted on tunes I'm more familiar with.
You say Frank Zappa & I immediately think of his "say nope to dope", he said frequently in the early 1970s ! Zappa 2nd thought, unofficial mayor of Laurel Canyon late 60s thru when he had enuf 😮 And 3rd-ly... Moon Unit!
He was a good Century ahead of the rest of us, ya know... back in the day! 😊🎉
Listen to Big Block. live at Ronnie Scott’s
Fantastic 🔥🔥
Ahh you have to listen to this song at Crossroads with Tal Wilkenfield on bass. Its a live performance
I love this album Blow By Blow, especially this one ❤ Please check out this song live at Ronnie Scott's. Tal Wilkenfeld will blow your mind!
This song literally hurts my heart.
Glitter band rock n roll Polo ✌️ I'm hooked ❤
Epic
Perfection.⭐Slow dancing..👣Hello Polo.⭐
Stevie Wonder's cover❤
Polo - you are TRANSFIXED! Jeff Beck is a f***ing guitar G-D!
You need to check out Roy Buchanan - this song is a dedication to him. "Five String Blues" "The Messiah will come again."
unique sound as he doesn't use a pick.
Try Bonnie Raitt’s “Angel From Montgomery “ or “give Them Something to Talk About”
Listen to The Pump off the There and Back Album 1980. Also check out Space Boogie off the same album, all the instruments are insane! The whole album is great
Check rest of album. 🎉 Peace Love & MUSIC Better yet "LIVE AT RONNIE SCITTS" from 2007 k k killer 🎸🎸🎸
Love this song but you gotta hear "Hammerhead" from Emotion Commotion. 🔥🔥🔥
Reminds me of Carlos Santana 🎸
This gem is a Stevie Wonder composition
I remember when Paul Simon won his grammy for Graceland he said in his speech "I want to thank Stevie Wonder for not putting out an album this year" because Stevie Wonder had been dominating the Grammys in recent years
Hi Polo ❤
steve via is a good listen as well for the love of god or the hydra stuff
He was him.😢
I would love to see this guy react to dragula by rob zombie
JB was one of one.
Have you reacted to Punk Floyd Pulse Comfortably Numb? Take you to another place! Bet you love it!
Oops! Pink Floyd!!! My bad!
On one end of the spectrum you have the extreme guitar shredders who play scales as fast as they can. All speed and no emotion. They are looking to complete the note as fast as possible and be on to the next predetermined note. On the other end of the spectrum is Jeff Beck and this particular piece where he is squeezing as much emotion as possible out of each note. I love his version of the Beatles "She's a woman" but you have to know the original to fully appreciate it.
This is the song that influenced Beck to play more instrumentals and jazz. You need to check out Tommy Bolin next. Start with Poast Toastee.
Billy Cobham with Tommy Bolin on guitar.

Its a pity Jeff coudn't write songs like Paul McCartney did. Maxwell's Silver Hammer comes to mind. It displays a level of songwriting genius that Jeff Beck could never hope to emulate. Some of his solos are okay though. McCartney could have used them as filler on Yesterday, which I though was bit hyperactive. It could have done with Jeff''s calming influence.
A song by Stevie Wonder.
If I wasn't in the mood when I would turn Beck on, it would only take me seconds to fall into the mood.
BTW.... What do you call that thing on the back of your desk? I know you put it on one of your videos, it was being sold by amazon. But I couldn't find the video and searching amazon, couldn't find it either.: ( thanks!
It's called a metronome, $98 on Amazon
@@phatcats3 thank you!
@@lauraandriola1844 you bet
You should listen to a live version of this song and see what everyone means by 'One with his Guitar' ua-cam.com/video/VC02wGj5gPw/v-deo.html
The live version at Ronnie Scots with Tal is incredible, that is the version you need to hear. Sorry but it's so much better than this version
I can't believe you did some Beck. You're my new hero, not him.❤❤❤❤
God Bless Jeff, he just passed recently. PS, this is not the best rendition of this song I've heard.
