      if the OPCW final report could be unreliable, why couldn’t the draft report? Why is the draft report suddenly written by infallible hands like it’s the fucking Bible or Bhagavad Gita? What makes these these leaked documents more reliable than the final report after everyone, read… more scientist and experts, weighed in. Is the final report always going to be tampered with because of who supports the OPCW? Nah, that’s not good enough.

      @piprod01 2 роки тому +35

      It's like the world's simplest join the dots puzzle. This is a case where there absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, there's no reason people would be staring at helicopters while you're actively being shelled. The fact there was helicopters around, and this other fact that a gas canister in this building broke his brain. The implication was so strong that all he could do was strawman or hallucinating vaush saying there was video linking the two points.

    • @BullofCrete
      @BullofCrete 2 роки тому +16

      I have to belive that his refusal to explain why Assad wouldn't be doing conventional helicopter bombing runs during the active shelling of a city was intentional, because ceding even that inch of ground-that helicopters could've even been there-would be a failure and he can't allow one chink in his armor.
      Because if that is how his thought process actually works, he needs to see a goddamn neurologist.

    "No ones talking about milk yet. What about the cookies?"

      @seanrichwood203 3 роки тому +9

      A more accurate starting question is "I see there used to be cookies on this plate by seeing the crumbs. What happened to the cookies?"
      No one disputes dead bodies are at the scene. The problem is finding out what happened. There wasn't enough chlorine in the room to kill the people in the short amount of time (being just below the maximum drinking water limit). There wasn't a way for the chemical canisters to have dropped through a roof, bounce off the floor, and land on a bed 3 meters away without damaging the floor. Despite Vaush's claims, there isn't a single video showing dozens of people fleeing (his own video was basically just a tour, showing all the dead bodies, zero helicopters, zero crowds, zero bombs, zero gas). Vaush wants to claim Ian wasn't at the site when there's documentation showing he was leading the expedition.
      Vaush has flipped his claims multiple times, made personal unfounded attacks/accusations, and every time he was asked for a citation, Vaush couldn't bring anything. He argues basically like a CIA puppet. Not worth anyone's time.

      @@seanrichwood203 I'm not going to argue the facts of the topic, simply because I am not informed enough to do so. It is also not the meat of my critique. Simply, vaush's rhetoric far outshined his opponent.
      As someone coming in without independent knowledge, I had to look at each debator and judge them on their actions. And for me it came down to credibility. Vaush's opponent damaged themselves in several ways.
      The talking points are useful, but repeated ad nauseam and in a blanant manner to dodge answering a question, especially a statement of what you believe, is damaging. Doing it 5+ times makes you look like Marco Rubio robotting his way through a debate with canned answers. It hammers the belief that you're an honest interlocketor, especially when he can stake a position and force vaush to do the same. He lost any good faith I had in his argument with this blunder.
      The second was allowing vaush to set a hypothetical about the cannisters that worked with the current thought by experts, and not pose his own. No matter how many times or in how many ways vaush asked him for his hypothetical, he dodged. It made him look like a blind zealot for his cauae and his argument weak.
      Vaush came off more reasonable and more prepared. To a person without any pre established feelings on the Syrian situation, the "CIA plant" came out a clear winner.

      @Alexis Andres Nah my dude, that's tone policing and you know it. One thing that I've learned from the internet is to never be tolerant of tone policing. It's a complete waste of time. When your opponent is a conspiracy theorist Assad chemical weapons denier, of course you can compare them to holocaust deniers. They're doing the same things that they do to defend their favorite dictator. Deny the facts and deny the reports from the majority of the people on the ground. Deny, ignore, stick their fingers in their ears. Whatever they have to do.

      @@xxcoldsteelexx Yeah, no, dude. Chlorine gas is significantly denser than air. It would flow downward through the building. This is the reason why it was used in WW1, because it reliably descended into trenches instead of floating above them.
      The hole in the roof is completely irrelevant no matter how much or how little chlorine was used. Zero chlorine would come up through the roof, because, again, chlorine does not float in the air. It sinks. Gases like it are a basic phenomenon in fluid dynamics, which you can see yourself by just looking up sulfur hexaflouride-- a similarly heavy gas that is far less dangerous but also mostly invisible. You see the exact opposite with helium, something with which basically every person in the developed world is familiar.

      @@Jimmymatthewb First off, they don't know how much gas was present, they're claiming that there was no gas at all (or maybe something else, his claims kept changing). Second, the amount of gas is really only secondarily related to the effects. You only need around 1000 parts per million (0.1 percent of 1 million parts of available air) to get these near instantaneous death results. While it's true that you would need a minimum amount to get these results, all amount past that is really about spreading the effects farther. In WW1 there was a ton of gas dropped because they were trying to spread it over a huge battlefield, not really because a huge amount of gas is required to kill someone quickly. Plus if you think about how the gas can affect the body, only a certain amount can really interface with a person to cause affects. Everything past that has no effect, so the idea that you need WW1 levels of gas there, an amount meant to cover miles and miles of battlefield, to kill people in a closed in apartment building is ridiculous. You would not need a large amount of gas to kill someone, especially in this closed in environment naturally limiting the availiable amount of air the chlorine has to displace to be deadly. Plus the claim they're making isn't even really that they were dying instantaneously, it's that it couldn't have been fatal in 30 minutes. With that you only need around 400 ppm (0.04%) which makes this claim that theres no way for this to happen without a fucking WW1 level of gas even more ridiculous

    Auto refrigeration is simply because expanding gases cool. When the gas is under a ton of pressure there are a bunch of collisions between the particles and that cause heat. So the opposite. So when gases(really fluids in general) under a ton of pressure rapidly depressurize they lose a ton of heat really quickly and thus the cooling effect. It’s literally the same principle that AC and refrigerated use. Just in reverse. A fluid that evaporates easily is run through the coils in the refrigerator picking up heat and cooling through evaporation as it’s allowed to expand. Then when it gets to the compressor it puts the fluid under pressure which essentially squeezes out the heat. For AC units that’s what the big fans outside are for. Blowing air over the coils to increase the rate that heat is removed. Basic thermodynamics.

This story shifted US public support for the Gulf war and so the war began. When the fabrication of the story became evident, it was too late because 100,000 US troops were already in iraq. Alright so this debate was pretty hectic and confusing throughout but let me get this straight
    - the cannisters were not full of chlorine gas, despite the corrosion and video evidence showing frost on them just after being deployed
    - they were "manually placed", as if someone lugged in several 180lb empty cannisters and stuck them in holes in the building to look like they were dropped
    - the video is fake, somehow, despite the same people in the footage later showing up dead (really dedicated crisis actors!)
    - mouth foaming not real
    - chlorine being heavier than air doesn't matter because people could just open a window and there was a hole on the roof
    - one unpublished single person's paper on this is proper evidence
    - this was all a ploy for the US to bomb some Syrian facilities, as if they needed to stage this to justify it
    Yeah it was totally a staged attack Assad is a saint who would never stoop to committing war crimes against his own people! I mean they love him! He has a 95% approval rating!

      all addressed by the inspectors
      No Chlorine gas
      no chlorine in the cannister
      No damage to roof or cannister consistent with a CW attack from the sky

      Not to mention the presence of chlorine gas reaction products in the area, with the highest concentration right next to the cylinder.

      @@RationalMind yeah if there was no chlorine gas, why the reactions evidencing it.
      What would even be IN the cannisters if not a chemical weapon? How did these people die if not from a chemical weapon?
      The holes in the logic of people denying this are big enough to drive a transport truck through.
