By the end of the video you can see those bodies stacked into hills. UBS2 is pretty good at that sort of simulation. The game also has an RTS mode for a human player to command the forces at their disposal. So in theory you could set this exact scenario up in game and play it with full control of the forces. Might be something interesting for the streams?

The big problem with maintaining that rate of fire (other than ammo) is that wouldn't the gun barrels all start to overheat and potentially warp? I would think those machine guns on the tanks especially shouldn't be able to maintain that rate of fire unless the guy swapping the barrels is amazingly fast and on point.

To me the tank looks like the Sherman easy 8. It can have 1 hull 30 cal mg, 1 turret 30 cal mg, and a gun over the commanders hatch that was typically a 50 cal... and of course the 76mm main gun.

      These are M4A2 (76w) Shermans.
The M4A3 HVSS or M4A3E8 had a much more different suspension than the M4, M4A1 and M4A2.
The M4A3 also had thicker and slightly wider tracks to fit the new HVSS Suspension.

The main gun wasn’t 76mm, if you look at other Shermans, they used 75mm guns, though given many Shermans were being made by various other manufacturers instead of one and each made their own modifications but still weren’t enough that the entire tanks were unique to each that you could still use parts interchangeably, given they were with somewhat different yet overall similar shapes in the main body, there was also a difference in production methods as well for these different models, but moving on, the main gun would be 75mm, but given later in the war, the need to have better penetration against tigers and other heavily armored tanks, the 76mm would be used, the same size that the British used for their Sherman Firefly, which uses a 17 pound cannon which is the equivalent to a 76mm, given they are the same size pretty much.
Edit; to note, it wouldn’t be every Sherman firing a 76mm gun, it would be some with 76mm guns while the rest are firing 75mm guns to overall provide fire against infantry as well, that is what the British had to do, given their 17 pounder guns couldn’t fire HE shells, they needed the Shermans equipped with the 75mm guns which were able to fire such shells there to supplement their forces, it wouldn’t do to have your tanks equipped to better handle other tanks be taken out by infantry when you supplement such things by having other tanks who could better fill an anti-infantry/infantry support role while also having infantry itself to work with these tank companies.
To note, you could tell a bit, which Sherman is which, like the M4A1s had a cast made main body that was curved and smooth while some other models would be weld made and had a more angular body, moving on, maximum effective firing range for the best penetration for a Sherman would be 500 meters if it is using the 75mm cannon, while if it were the 76mm cannon, it could have the same penetration capacity, albeit a little bit better at 2 kilometers (2000 meters) on an armored plate angled at 30 degrees, but moving on, the penetration capabilities of it dropping, drops less drastically for the 76mm comparatively to the 75mm. Though if we had to compare the American’s 76mm to the British equivalent size gun which was their 17 pounder which is used in the Sherman firefly, then if the 75mm gun could penetrate 74mm of armor at a 30 degree angle at 500meters before there is a penetration drop off at further distances, then the the 76 would be about 98mm of armor at 500 meters while the 17pounder could do about 140mm of armor angled at 30 degrees at a range of 500 meters, though the penetration drop off at further distances drop more drastically where if the 76 was 98 at 500m, 90 at 1km, 84 at 1.5km and 76 at 2km, the drop off would be 8, 6, 4 mm; but go to the 17 pounder, that would be something like ~140 at 450m, ~130 at 910m, ~120 at 1.37km, and ~111 at 1.83km, the drop off being 10, 10, 9 mm for armor penetration at further distances. But to note, that given there are different versions of the 17 pounder just as there are different versions of the 75 and 76mm guns, means that those numbers aren’t going to be the same for every gun if they are designed and made differently.

ultimate epic battle simulator 2, as far as i can tell is just a simulation of statistics how a unit with simple tactics like stand your ground or attack would fare. it not only does completly ignore ammo and other factors that limit the fire rate and basically assumes perfect conditions and that the unit will be capable of instant performing the next attack as the previous is done, besides that its also just simpöle stats of damage, health and armor. so a zombie even if the enemy is made out of metal which irl would be immune to the attacks a zombie can do in this game if the attack stat is higher then the defence stat it will do the amount of damage remaining after substracting armor from the damage value. the game isnt bad but its more of looks and showing of statistics rather then actually being realistic.

I believe the tanks are M4A2(76)W Shermans though I may be wrong on the exact model (they could also be M4A1 or M4A3 Shermans). But from what I can tell they are most likely M4A2s equipped with long-barrel 76 mm anti-tank guns, judging from the turret shape and hull shape at least. If someone else can more accurately describe that than me that would be great.
Edit: Quickly adding more detail myself: the 76 mm Shermans were used to supplement short barrelled 75 mm Shermans and did not function as the main battle tank of the US until after WW2, with the M4A3(76)W HVSS (later renamed the M4A3E8) seeing much more widespread use in the Korean War. To have this tank deployed and call it WW2 is technically accurate since these tanks did see widespread (albeit not universal) use during the period, but really a much larger number of regular M4A1, A2, and A3 with short 75 mil guns should be depicted. But that is a minor gripe from a pedant.
Again, if anything I said is wrong, please correct me.

    • @VoidedEmptiness

I don’t know the exact model off the top of my head but from the suspension it looks like the volute springs are vertical so it’s most likely an M4 M4A1 or M4A2. There might be some variation of an A3 that has vertical volute springs but usually from the M4A3 and onwards they had their volute springs horizontally.

Hi Paul, i don't know if you ever read 'World War Z' by Max Brooks or listened to the audio book but there is a whole section of how the military dealed with the zombies. First how they failed since they didn't understand the new threat and then how they eventually succeeded. The original book is structured like a report or documentary of the whole 'World War Z' from beginning to 'end' and across all of societey with eye witness reports from poor and rich, civilian and military, politician and businessperson, from Canada via France to Russia. Explaining what kind of problem which country or social structure or beliefe system had to face, at least trying to stay logical and practical. It is worlds ahead of the movie or even the games which were spectacular in their own way. I really highly recommend it.

The tanks look like M4A3E8 with 76mm main armament typical of US forces towards the end of the war. Alot of 75mm tanks did persist into the war pretty late though, and those might have been better because the 75 had a more effective high explosive round. This is a small side effect of the higher velocity of the 76, more stresses on the shell means more material in the shell walls means smaller filler for explosive. Tanks in defensive positions can engage a mob target like this pretty far out, especially if the tankers have created range cards and assigned sectors of fire for each platoon.

The thought behind the Vs simulation type of video is very small. They don’t really put much thought behind formation or unit type. They don’t think strategically mostly the thought process is putting a lot of characters together on screen. You’d actually be lucky to find videos with commentary when it comes to this because of how easy these videos are to make. Plus the ai of a lot of these simulation games are very very simple. I don’t get the appeal as mostly the videos are the same throughout and this applies for a lot of battle simulation games. Besides tabs.
