Smart play by Tactical! They got the Hill 137 neutral cap to 99%, but they didn't have control of the island any more because they had lost their spawn. They chose not to cap it fully because capping a neutral flag would gain them 20 tickets, while capping a fully capped enemy flag gains 60. So they would be at a nett disadvantage if they capped Hill 137 first (+20), and then lost it again afterwards (+60 for the enemy). So they decide to just cap it 99% for maximum delay and minimum ticket gain for the enemy, assuming they wouldn't be able to hold it anyways. Meanwhile they're going full turtle, trying to make the enemy lose as many tickets as possible by farming vehicles and mortaring that cap zone. However it looks like allstars are doing very well ticket wise. Not yet done watching, but gg and great play from both teams!

In the casting tools you're building with the team, you should ask them about the ability to tap into a specific squad's comms so you can hear them coordinate on specific sections of the push you're filming.
Was pullin for TT, sad they went down with a wimper, but man Germany put on a masterclass of a pure unadulterated, simple, boring but incredibly effective turtle in both games. Well done. And TT, you guys were a blast to watch all tournament, you guys know how to entertain! I enjoyed your games the most!
@IbnWobbler I understand. That's why I gave props to Germany as well. Again, it may be a boring slog, but it's a winning strategy. Defense wins championships is a common phrase across all team sports for a reason. And I think the time limit hurt, but it was the rough starts for each game. Game 1 was completely unavoidable due to the map design, but the wipe at the beginning of game two was completely avoidable.

I laughed when the SAG Leadership mentioned they only knew of the glitch because ZERO leaked it himself. Its like they played ZERO as a personality by bringing the glitch into reality and then not engaging with the aggressive TT armor and just saying come get us out of these foxholes dude.

Their biggest turn of the first game was losing the attacking hab and had they capped hill, could’ve kept pressure. Then second round, if the medic had capped hangers (even running away and hiding instead of fighting might’ve been enough even the ticket score by capping it to gas town)
In tallil each team was preventing the other from capping their 3rd point. I've never seen that before. Incredible matches and i look forward to the next tourney :)
Would be nice in the future to have multi screen POVs then 1 highlight in the middle where the commentator could commentate then highlight would change depending on the intensity of their battles.
Was really expecting to see tactical triggernometry roll through S.A.G. Damn I’m sad but optimistic that an infantry heavy team one, and it was very competitive . S.A.G was always one step ahead.

Was rooting for TT through the whole tournament, and it was very entertaining! Gotta admit though, I was disappointed on several occasions with TT's play: 1. Sanxian: They had a massive armor advantage and were unable to leverage it. The map and layer did make it tough, but imo they could have been more bold, the M1 never seemed to be supporting any infantry action, just driving around in the back taking random shots. 2. Sanxian: 1:07:59 they had a bold armor "thunder run," and I thought it was a great play. But then after dropping the infantry, the LAVs kept driving, leaving their infantry alone. I think it would have been better to fully commit to the play. Keep the LAVs with the infantry to fight off the counter-push and give the infantry time to set up a hab/radio. 3. Tallil: 1:26:06 They lost all forward momentum with that full transport getting picked apart. Seemed like very poor situational awareness from the infantry with few heads on swivels and no one covering angles, all just "clown-car-ing" out. And I agree with those in the comments asking for additional time added to the video to avoid knowing who won just by seeing how much time was left on the video. I know I must sound like I hated the tournament, but I truly enjoyed watching it. Really great event and loved the action. Great job.
I found myself really wanting to watching the infantry exchanges. Maybe give them some shine in the next one. All in all great video and great concept man.
as someone who has over 2000 hours in squad i promise watching these videos is more fun than actually playing the game itself, most of the time its a struggle to get a solid match, find a decent squad leader, not have some complete noob hogging hat kit, finding an okay pilot, its just a lot of elements that have to come together to potentially provide you with those couple of moments of combat where you get that kill or you shoot that rocket. the moments you capture are almost as satifying to watch as they are to play, which says a lot about the cinematic quality of the game, but again the time commitment that it requires to even get a half way DECENT match going just is not worth it one bit. ive literally spent 2-3 hours playing squad DOZENS of times without getting a single decent match in, usually i just end up squad leading which CAN be fun, but unless you join a CLAN or have a dedicated group of players you run armor or inf with this game is really nothing but a giant giant HUGE waste of time for very small seconds of satisfaction

He needs a dedicated cameraman, not knocking his casting but its frustrating to watch. Cameraman can listen and focus on what he talks about while he stares at the minimap so we don't have to. Huge fights get a glance from afar then its pan to empty terrain and pull up minimap. I understand its a lot going on but he'll zoom into a few vehicle fights a match to get the intro highlights then the rest of the match is a radio show.
You’re asking him to become a live event director, calling the shots from a booth with a team of camera operators who are communicating and coordinating amongst themselves - while at the same time commentating with the same energy and urgency. And then potentially having to re-edit the feed switches if something is missed during the broadcast. For someone who is only getting paid via the social media trickle and Patreon, that’s a heavy load to bear. While I’d love to see it, that would be asking someone to tackle the time-consuming logistics of production management. Haven’t we stolen enough time from his young family?! 😅

Hey MoiDawg, i loved squad but couldn't put the time in myself to keep playing it. But ive come back because im about a month late to see these amazing battles and the small teamfights that all go into Squad as a team esport. Its been great and ive been invested into the teams. Id love to see another one. If you'd like some supportive and hopeful criticism- because i see how good this can truly be to anyone that likes milsim games or hell, milsim in general- maybe there could be a plugin someone makes to allow a seperate person to draw on the map of where fights are happening; using the in-game designs ontop of the map but in a different color. If thats not possible just a different person updating the map constantly in a corner from a different system that displays it for you when you open the map menu. I loved the helmet cam, didnt know that was in the game, especially during critical points of contact and you listen to on the ground coms so we know what the team were seeing is actually going through and how theyre communicating. Then zoom back out to your no clip and give your opinion on the entire situation for both sides, to keep it narrated and unbiased.
And by fights happening, I mean like how the front lines shift, and then some drawing in a different color what each side's fire team or squad is trying to do from a game perspective. If they're just trying to hold or advance on, then show like what each unit is contributing to. I dunno like seems it could be really fuckin sick for an esport to have matches of such a large scale to see what all of them are doing in smaller fire teams rather than what one person sees on the helmet cam. Though I love the helmet cam. I dunno, seeing how individual squads like squad 1, squad 2, are doing, either if their group is just providing security we could see that, then if they're moving up towards an object we see that, and where their rally points are. I don't know I'm a bit drunk.
I dont know the game mechanics, what circles on map mean, I get those 3D squarey-rectangley thing is 3D cap area. squad spawn is called rally, whole team spawn is called radio ? :P Mechanics are on one hand extra pro-vehicle when it comes to HP. IRL there are various means of detection, bigger thermals are stronger. Those should be blindable like what DIRCM does. 'Shtora'. When you have only a thermal lamp, like those for keeping little chicken warm, this is in essence the thing on old gen T-64-72 the big lamp. That means, you radiated heat, and you saw the reflection. Also anybody with the new passive thermals could also see you. But those needed keeping cold. Heating the camera itself would mean you are in effect using an infrared flare vs an AA heat seeker. Yes modern ones have also contrast, then ultraviolet picture etc. Perhaps the idea was that only certain factions had them. When one country no longer has a monopoly on them, they become common. Then there is radio recon, there I found little in English, though cold war materials from the eastern side were shown - and looked over :) In case some people say APS on tanks is unbeatable, well, start filling air with interference and APS will have slowed or nonexistent reaction. But that also means active use of EM, meaning being detectable. APS also uses radar, meaning emission, being detectable even without being visible. Meaning antiradiation thing can go after the source.
God, I hope we see more e-sports from Squad and other 50v50 style games. Next time let's get some multistreaming and maybe a second commentator if you find someone you have good rapport with!

I don't understand why tanks get so close. You know the best way to win a tank battle in this mil sim game. Is to be at range, so you have ore time to retreat when you need too.
TT are just soloing all their infantry, there is no back up. So they get picked off or outnumbered in every move. They need to be moving in threes and fours at least.

Speaking as one of the heads of the TT community(not the comp team, i was just a regular player during these matches), not really anymore. We have a few veterans, but not that many. Most of us are just regular dudes.
I’m not sure. I’d think if it tried going further into All stars then it’d be picked off. By the time the Abram’s joined the fight, most of all stars vehicles were down
RGF Tank factions are overpowered in pub matches, there are times where tanks are instant spawned, and the thing with the RGF armored factions is that they have a lot of armored vehicles that can overpower the enemy's positions with the amount of armor, less AT capabilities would be an uphill battle. Plus, the RGF armored logistics have a rws turret which is insane to deal with.
Firstly this was great to watch and follow all the matchs through. I was rooting for TT but dang some of the All Stars coordination was amazing and they deserved to take it. Couple of questions. In the second match a TT player said that they are head glitching. What is this refering to? I don't play squad. And lastly why cant you click on map and automaticly camera move to that position? Seems a no brainer and way more useful then shoulder cam.
A head glitch is a position for vehicles. In this position only the head (the turret) of the vehicle pops out and the vehicle can shoot other this way. The headglitchers on the other hand can not be killed as shooting the turret will not destroy a vehicle, only disable the turrets ability to turn properly.
coming back to this a month later, honestly so disappointed by the map pick. I seems that each game was decided in the first 5 minutes of the first round always. Seems to me like Squad as a game is not competition ready.
Both SAG and TT played quite passively. But SAG was in a position to do so, TT was not. It was the absolutely right play for SAG. TT needed to do something risky to gain the upper foot, but they didn't. This is how they lost. Doing nothing while behind.
Problem is, when playing against a team of SAG/PM's calibre, there are very small windows to exploit and it's very easy to miss them. More likely than not being too aggressive would have just resulted in losing faster especially on these turtle-focused maps.
The only thing making this better would be 3-4 cams from each side and the caster switching between them.

Hey MoiDawg, i loved squad but couldn't put the time in myself to keep playing it. But ive come back because im about a month late to see these amazing battles and the small teamfights that all go into Squad as a team esport. Its been great and ive been invested into the teams. Id love to see another one. If you'd like some supportive and hopeful criticism- because i see how good this can truly be to anyone that likes milsim games or hell, milsim in general- maybe there could be a plugin someone makes to allow a seperate person to draw on the map of where fights are happening; using the in-game designs ontop of the map but in a different color. If thats not possible just a different person updating the map constantly in a corner from a different system that displays it for you when you open the map menu. I loved the helmet cam, didnt know that was in the game, especially during critical points of contact and you listen to on the ground coms so we know what the team were seeing is actually going through and how theyre communicating. Then zoom back out to your no clip and give your opinion on the entire situation for both sides, to keep it narrated and unbiased.
And by fights happening, I mean like how the front lines shift, and then some drawing in a different color what each side's fire team or squad is trying to do from a game perspective. If they're just trying to hold or advance on, then show like what each unit is contributing to. I dunno like seems it could be really fuckin sick for an esport to have matches of such a large scale to see what all of them are doing in smaller fire teams rather than what one person sees on the helmet cam. Though I love the helmet cam. I dunno, seeing how individual squads like squad 1, squad 2, are doing, either if their group is just providing security we could see that, then if they're moving up towards an object we see that, and where their rally points are. I don't know I'm a bit drunk.

I dont know the game mechanics, what circles on map mean, I get those 3D squarey-rectangley thing is 3D cap area. squad spawn is called rally, whole team spawn is called radio ? :P Mechanics are on one hand extra pro-vehicle when it comes to HP. IRL there are various means of detection, bigger thermals are stronger. Those should be blindable like what DIRCM does. 'Shtora'. When you have only a thermal lamp, like those for keeping little chicken warm, this is in essence the thing on old gen T-64-72 the big lamp. That means, you radiated heat, and you saw the reflection. Also anybody with the new passive thermals could also see you. But those needed keeping cold. Heating the camera itself would mean you are in effect using an infrared flare vs an AA heat seeker. Yes modern ones have also contrast, then ultraviolet picture etc.
Perhaps the idea was that only certain factions had them. When one country no longer has a monopoly on them, they become common. Then there is radio recon, there I found little in English, though cold war materials from the eastern side were shown - and looked over :)
In case some people say APS on tanks is unbeatable, well, start filling air with interference and APS will have slowed or nonexistent reaction. But that also means active use of EM, meaning being detectable. APS also uses radar, meaning emission, being detectable even without being visible. Meaning antiradiation thing can go after the source.
Just comes down to making vehicles more powerful isn't feasible for gameplay where the scale is two platoons engaging.
God, I hope we see more e-sports from Squad and other 50v50 style games. Next time let's get some multistreaming and maybe a second commentator if you find someone you have good rapport with!
@moidawg I don't know how everyone feels about this, but could you turn off the markers? It makes the map so full of information and hard to see in a glimpse.

I don't understand why tanks get so close. You know the best way to win a tank battle in this mil sim game. Is to be at range, so you have ore time to retreat when you need too.

TT are just soloing all their infantry, there is no back up. So they get picked off or outnumbered in every move. They need to be moving in threes and fours at least.
@Moidawg , what are your thoughts on making teams have a public affairs officer, bring them in actually during the game and give mini quick interviews of their thoughts etc and send em back

Speaking as one of the heads of the TT community(not the comp team, i was just a regular player during these matches), not really anymore. We have a few veterans, but not that many. Most of us are just regular dudes.

I’m not sure. I’d think if it tried going further into All stars then it’d be picked off. By the time the Abram’s joined the fight, most of all stars vehicles were down

RGF Tank factions are overpowered in pub matches, there are times where tanks are instant spawned, and the thing with the RGF armored factions is that they have a lot of armored vehicles that can overpower the enemy's positions with the amount of armor, less AT capabilities would be an uphill battle. Plus, the RGF armored logistics have a rws turret which is insane to deal with.

Firstly this was great to watch and follow all the matchs through. I was rooting for TT but dang some of the All Stars coordination was amazing and they deserved to take it. Couple of questions. In the second match a TT player said that they are head glitching. What is this refering to? I don't play squad.
And lastly why cant you click on map and automaticly camera move to that position? Seems a no brainer and way more useful then shoulder cam.
A head glitch is a position for vehicles. In this position only the head (the turret) of the vehicle pops out and the vehicle can shoot other this way. The headglitchers on the other hand can not be killed as shooting the turret will not destroy a vehicle, only disable the turrets ability to turn properly.
tactical trig was infuriating to root for, idk why it was so hard for them to play infantry in a coordinated fashion

coming back to this a month later, honestly so disappointed by the map pick. I seems that each game was decided in the first 5 minutes of the first round always. Seems to me like Squad as a game is not competition ready.

Both SAG and TT played quite passively. But SAG was in a position to do so, TT was not. It was the absolutely right play for SAG. TT needed to do something risky to gain the upper foot, but they didn't. This is how they lost. Doing nothing while behind.
Problem is, when playing against a team of SAG/PM's calibre, there are very small windows to exploit and it's very easy to miss them. More likely than not being too aggressive would have just resulted in losing faster especially on these turtle-focused maps.
