I have been dying from laughter for nine minutes straight.
God bless-protect the glorious-great Eli, yes, yes.
we raise our noses in salute, all hail the under-empire!!!
I've loved the Skaven ever since I learned that they mine gold even though they don't need it, just to annoy the other races
As the kids say, embracing that "generational hater" feel
I like to think that warpstone is just straight up uranium. It's green. It mutates stuff. They use it to make ammo. And also a thought of a rat snorting a line of uranium is incredibly funny to me.
Beck when I used to work at lowes, the mice would eat grass seed treated with a vibrant green coating. Mostly they would die, but occasionally you would catch a bright green creature darting between shelving units, only to disappear in the deep dark guttering.
The coating stuck to their fur and would make them easily visible to predators like owls. Got quite a few nice close up shots of owls sitting on shelves thanks to those suicidal little neon guys
it's radioactive Meth.
Fun fact: if you snort plutonium, your head will explode into flames. This is due to two things:
#1. Plutonium is not water soluble. It will not dissolve into your nasal passages. In fact, when exposed to moist air (like that which is found in your sinuses), plutonium forms oxides and hydrides that will expand the sample by up to 70%. So this means that it will make your face swell up.
#2. These oxides and hydrides are pyrophoric. That means they ignite when exposed to air. Your face which is already beginning to swell will catch on fire from the inside.
Your face will become a fireball.
At least you won’t have to worry about radiation poisoning because your head will have exploded before you even feel the symptoms of radiation poisoning.
Basically a less extreme version of what happens if you huff Warpstone.
Warpstone is effectively magical uranium from hell.

instead of spending Christmas eve with my family I'm instead spending time watching a podcast episode about rat men. clearly I have made the superior choice
I wonder how this guy's life is going and if he actually made the right choice
Eli’s skaven voice at the start was fantastic
the virgin beastmen vs THE CHAD-CHAD SKAVEN!
btw, I can't believe there is a timeline not far from this one where Perturabo got kicked in the groin by space Skaven...
Now I need a Nagash beginner to expert. Because listening to people talk about Skelepope Supreme for almost 2 hours is apparently how I like spending my weekends.
Such is the power of Nagash
That opening bit by Eli sounded like lemongrab lmao
UNACCEPTABLE!! The Skaven will claim their true place on the above-land!!
LMAO truuuuu!
The horned rat is decay itself as a concept, his own avatar got corrupted like the chaos god's but over a far lengthier period of time most likely as decay is something that goes in cycles. Given the war and madness, it makes sense that with constant unhealthy amounts of renewal that eventually the avatar of the concept would get fucking dickish.
Sadly this also explains why despite skaven being cowardly, they are pushed to do terrible things and generally feel terrible, because decay when overloaded everywhere literally creates what the under empire is: look at skaven blight and look at the *absolute fucking mess* it is, there's no substantial life anywhere and despite the skaven being anthropomorphic versions of the animals that help a lot to add on physically the concept of decay, they are renewed in a fucked up and twisted way by their own people's constant backstabbing, mirroring their gods avatar's first potential action of backstabbing the people he promised to build a tower for, only to then show them all his abstract concept in the cruelest way possible and erode any kind of chance for life to return there because of how he forced his created species to act.
TLDR: decay is needed but too much of it will fuck you up.
Bruh
I've actually heard a strong argument that the horned rat is essentially a perversion of all four chaos gods.
To paraphrase the claims I read so many years ago: War without honor, decay without renewal, depravity without beauty, treachery without wisdom. It went something like that. The Skaven have those awful breeding pits. The Skaven are mostly shortsighted and have difficulty with long-term planning due to difficulty in agreeing upon an ambition to share. The Skaven really only value bare minimum sustainability benchmarks and fall short of even those sometimes. The Skaven are an inherently cowardly race that fears direct conflict.
Oooh! It’s my turn to “uM AksCHuaLLY” someone. He’s not the god of decay, that’s Nurgle. Nurgle is about decay and rebirth, he wants things to live then die then live again.
The Great Horned Rat is the god of Ruin, the total destruction of all things, with no possibility of rejuvenation. He wants to be the last being alive in existence.
@@Tortle-Man you just basically said what the original guy just said and just exchanged decay with ruin. Nurgle and The Great Horned Rat clearly overlap in some of their domains as seen from Pestilens. It's just the horned rat doesn't want rebirth he wants everything to rot, to decay, to be ruined.
Snikch be like:
*I don't know who I am, I don't know where-where I am, all I know is that I must kill-kill!"
I just realised
We have vermintide
We have darktide

SM 2 is the bugtide

..we worship the GREAT HORNED RAT-GOD
Now I'm imagining the great horned rat wearing Santa's clothes.
i heard a tiny bit about the skaven before this and i knew they would be my favorite warhammer fantasy race, now i get to know more about my favorite rat pals
I find it really weird that Gotrek and Felix wouldn't know who thanquol is because they absolutely did. Ulrika was even able to identify thanquol by name when she encountered him because Felix told Her about him.
To my memory she recognise him as "the weird grey Horned magic rat" Gotrek and Felix fought in nuln so I assume that later on they both just kinda forgot about him as he is one dude on a long list of enemies they had made
@@tybkc Also part of me thinks it'd be hysterical if Gotrek and Felix were trolling Thanquol because they knew there was no way the rat would be able to stand it if they said they had no idea who he was.
They didn’t recognize him because they assumed he was dead. They didn’t think Skaven could live that long
@@tybkc Also, every skaven grey seer has horns, so they might have thought they were fighting a different grey seer in a couple of their Thanquol fights
The sad part is that my boy Ikkit survived end times aswell, he just has super dementia and goes by Ikrit now since that’s what he remembers his name by

Never thought I’d fall asleep on Christmas Eve to Skaven poetry. What a magical world we live in.
I'm guessing pancreas is going to praise the great horned rat over, and over, and over agian.
I would really like when possible for a discord server bec i can imagine how many 40k lore enthusiasts would join that server(including myself).
That would be amazing
Two minutes. I couldn't go two minutes into this video without nearly pissing myself from laughter. You guys are awesome!
The Sandman 40k would be an excellent addition to your team, albeit only as a guest star.

I’m guessing it’s nothing like Nazrin from Touhou

The Skaven are super cool and one I would hate to fight in Warhammer Fantasy as a Human due to the numbers and crazy warpstone tech. In 40K the Strykis are not very scary and mid in terms of Xenos to fight so not so bad.
Up to now, that's your best episode. Thx a lot for your hard work.
Remember to like and comment to appease the great horned rat,,, I mean algorithm 😁❤️👍🏼
Some call it... The algoratm.
Shame they skipped over ikit claw in sigmar getting a mech suit and being taught how to make stormcasts by a dwarf fella
I daam like hearing you guys again!!
The skaven is the reason why I got into warhammer. They are unsurpassed as the most evil sentient beings in any franchise.
1:32:14 Lizardmen fans crying in the corner. (I also kinda hate the seraphon lore.)
I do miss Queek Headtaker, I do hope we get a new model of him someday
Rip the Total Warhammer game model into an STL
The Stryxis i belive are suppose to be the 40k scaven. No miniatures but there is a little bit of lore and something about having four eyes and chaining derelict or captured ships together.
Skaven are like the orks but funnier
For those wondering how the device that called the Eldar was in Warhammer Fantasy, the implication has been that the Old Ones in fantasy are the same Old Ones from 40k, and that they may have created Warhammer Fantasy in its own pocket dimension.
Ok so Skaven created a Pocket Dimension inside of another Pocket Dimension, that might be in yet another Pocket Dimension. Inception^Ad Infinitum!
Imagine Rick and Morty TPing to SkavenBlight only to see F*ckit Claw (Ikit Claw's grand-grand granddaughter) berating them for being so sloppy with the portal guns. Then proceeding to demonstrate Dimension eating rat-flesh abominations high on concentrated amphetamine glazed shroom coated warpstone genetically modified Ritalin.
@Imperial Fist well realms of chaos are 100% confirmed to be the same in both, as a White Dwarf stated the chaos gods are the same exact beings in both universe. Specifically that Slaanesh exists because of the Eldar
@@thewerdna So Eldar f*cked Slaanesh into both 40k and fantasy? /j
Ok so we got slushy in both universes, yet no Ikit Claw in Age of Shitmar. We know what has to be done now! Gather the rats, make them breed so much that the Horny rat can be born!
Also If that happens, will it create a realm of chaos in the realm of chaos? Will the Skaven realm be a pocket dimension OF the chaos realm? If so will there be a Tzeentch in the pocket dimension vying to backstab the real Tzeentch so he can take over? Since he already tried ambushing his future self but then got ambushed in turn by his past self this should become canon!
@Imperial Fist the warp is the same in both universes. This is seen due to the fact that also in the End Times, when some characters tried to raid Nurgle's garden, they ran into and allied with this giant warrior clad in strange armor with a runed sword that could conjure blue fire. This was heavily implied to have been Kaldor Draigo
Skaven are what people think the pre bane sith empire is
The chemestry between you guys is just great, funny af and also wholsome, its a treat to listen to it, and it feels like its a treat to make aswell
I now think-feel that all videos should have Skaven subtitles. I don't mean on this channel, I mean everywhere.
The little detail that always gets to me that I don't see mentioned much is that the assassin's of Clan Eshin actually have their scent glands removed (assumedly also with some of the cleaning and diet regimes that actual ninja used) so they are completely odorless. Since Skaven often perceive the world more by scent then sight, that detail just always felt really scary to me. Having this built in radar that you depend on all the time, and not only are Clan Eshin some of the most deadly rats alive, but they are invisible to that radar. Also their swords literally melt you, for added fun. They're probably the first thing in Warhammer that felt genuinely scary to me. And this is coming from someone who has daydreamed about a cozy apartment in Hellpit.
Also, while Thanquol is my favorite Warhammer character, I have to give an honorable mention to Sharpwit from the Headtaker novel, he really doesn't get enough attention and probably has the #2 spot (Glart Smashrip and Fulgrim are the competition, for anyone wondering). Especially after I played Elden Ring and noticed a lot of funny little similarities with Margit, another character I absolutely love.
Thank you thanquol for "bash two babies with one bludgeon"
I was looking forward to this one lesgooo. Merry Christmas btw
Fantasy? FUCK YES!!!!
Best.Intro.Ever.
I'm still convinced The Great Horned Rat helped save Gotrek. Because, to him, it was really, really funny.
I can listen to these boi's for HOURS the passion you guys have for these topics are legendary PancreasNoWork just fucking went for it with his love of these filthy rats being owned by the ultimate duo and I got excited because I've been reading those books recently too.
Love your work guys and I can't wait for next year batch of videos!
I don’t think skaven are reminiscent of the “bunch of monkies writing Shakespeare” thing. I mean in the books upon seeing a shitty steam tank a known tinker rat thinks of a modern tank design within seconds. Ikit claw has be developed multiple weapons. In general I’m pretty sure some skaven are just really fucking smart.
Total war warhammer's skaven clans show off skaven very well.
The four major clans are represent, with the sneaky eshin rats, the stinky pestilens rats, the smart-ish skryre rats and the monstrous moulder rats
Then there's Clan Mors and Clan Rictus, two warlord clans that are VERY powerful, but for different reasons.
Mors has some of the best clanrats, their rank and file clanrats are completely loyal to clan mors, and they assimilate defeated troopd that surrender into their military.
Clan Rictus, however, has stronger stormvermin in vastly superior numbers than almost any other clan, and they control every trade route into and out of the darklands (they charge a heavy payment to go in, and twice again if you want to leave, thrice as much if you want a rictus skaven to guide you through the darklands, which can often be necessary because of the chaos dwarfs)
Rictus and Mors actually have a bit of a rivalry, with them both being major warlord clans on the council of thirteen.
I always thought Remembi was making the edits.
Damn Pancreas your editing so great and I feel like its unappericiated so if you see this comment be happy. idk what else to say its just good fucking editing
League of legends have ruined my mind every time I see a skaven I think of Twitch
Pumping out the new clanrats listening to this. (I love rats!)
I went to college in Wyoming and lived their for 3 years after I graduated.
There's nothing like playing skryre, getting a double turn, then promptly using it to blow yourself up. They aren't great competitively but I've yet to find a more fun army in either AoS or 40k
Amazing stuff, I've been binge watching 40k lore and it's been awesome. Are there any fantasy lore videos anybody could recommend
You may already know of pancreasnowork the channel it's pretty good with the love for fantasy. Oculus Imperialis...(spelling definitely off sry bro) has a couple. They're around on YT just search em up. The lore selection is pretty good, lots of channels and videos out there. (Ps warning lots of heated debates as well it just comes with its not that deep really)
Happy Sanguinala to all
Rats! Rats! Rats!
As a person who lives in Wyoming, the skaven are under my house and they keep waking me up in the middle of the goddamn night if I don't throw various green rocks at them
How to get a dark sould fan to like warhammer: show them Skavenblight, tell them it's Blight Town
this is now canon
Fun fact about the doomwheel a skaven from clan mors sleek sharpwit who was Lord Gnawdwell's queek before queek had a big hand in helping clan skryre crate said doomwheel! Yea that other skaven warlord skull is in fact sleek sharpwit. He was a huge rival in the novel headtaker its super interesting there interactions. TLDR Sleek was gnawdwell's right hand man earning said title over many long years of service and sees queeks rise as unfair this leads to a phyllisophical final battle and these quotes basically
sharpwit "you think you think any beyond your own scrap of hill knows or cares who you are?
you think in 50 years any will remember?"
Queek "all fear queek all will forever fear queek"
sharpwit "you are impossible mad-thing you do not know the meaning of forever look at me i am still alive and already forgotten"
Sharpwit "we steal so much from the dwarf-things more then any care to admit but never that
respect for what is past
i think the horned rat prefers his children blind or we would surely have the world now
and he knows we would betray even him if we could"
Queek "You admire dwarf-things?"
Sharpwit "it would be nice to be remembered"
Queek ""Queek will always remember you"
and he takes sleeks head making it his most prized trophy and why its so critical of him.
Thanqoul summoning Skarbrand instead of the verminlord was infact a final fuck you that a skaven called Thratsnik they left him locked inside a burrow to starve so he got payback by destorying the OG hand and replacing it with his own hand with the seal of khorne. This was all told in the black plague trilogy and the novel Thanqoul's doom. The skaven have been kinda put on the side line for age of sigmar we have not had a new skaven novel in the settings for YEARS.
This was a fun video i hope to see more fantasy stuff from this channel tho i do watch the 40k stuff too!!!!
So Pancreas knows of Pink Yabbit should've guessed.
Skaven and Lizardmen (I guess they go by Seraphon now?) are by far my favorite factions in the Fantasy Setting. It would be amazing if you uploaded a similar video for the Lizardmen at some point in in the future!
I know they are a fan favorite to the point its overated...but clann skryre is honestly one of my favorite "bad guy" factions in most fantasy settings. Between the insane development, mad science (just as much as molder) and the sheer insanity of these rat men going full north Korea at times...and even blowing up the moon, part of me is GREATLY disappointed that they do not have their own dedicated army list in age of sigmar...especially with what is implied to be ikkit still running around...though with a bit of dememtia.
Great video, but the audio levels are all over the place. You were way louder then the other guys
Eli’s natural voice sounds skaven
Now I'm picturing how much more insane Conrad Curze would have been if he had to be primarch over the Skaven instead of the Night Lords. Oh boy
He would have wiped out his Legion.
Merry Christmas you silly bastards!
I think the vampire you thinking about is Abhorash the founder of the Blood Knights.
Late but I’m from Wyoming and I wish we can actually have giant rats to boast about, then we could actually put all the cowboy guns and all to good use.
"Christmas"? Surely you meant the Ratmas! And speaking of ratmas: any chance you could do a Thanquolsgiving special next year about our favourite rat who just can't get a break?
Hmmmm yes yes, my fellow rat fam-kin. Yes yes.
Two minutes in - like!
You know whats a cooler faction? Bretonnia of course.

22:04 I'd have to agree lol
Clan Eshin.. WE are watching..
The Skaven and the Lizardmen/Seraphon are the greatest races that GW made.
Obviously the Horned Rat joined chaos because he knew that with thanquol in chatge he will do more damage then by fighting them directly
I'm from wyoming. I met the other guy that lives here. There's a lot of wind.

Will you guys be included any Disney/Mickey Mouse jokes?
I had a great time
I want all of them to use the Skaven voice for everything now.
Just wanted to add that clan pestilence at the end of the civil war threatened to unleash the yellow skull fever upon skavenblight in order to get that council seat.

Why are the Skaven killing all the dwarves?? Because the writers forgot about Skarsnik.

Eli's intro is possibly the most fitting description of Skaven, ever.
Orc tech seems fun
Skaven is like florida orc
Random thought: Is it a "civil" war if none of the beings involved know what the word "civil" means? And more so, if they did understand the word they would consider it to be a sign of weakness.
