- Nezarec is the final god of pain, but what does that even mean? We’ved faced his nightmares since shadowkeep and ended his physical form in root of nightmares, but what now? Today we are going to discuss Nezarec himself. We’ve talked about the raid, but now long lost mysteries of this disciple reveal themselves. Commander of the void, interacting with Cayde, his follower acolytes and his immortality.

Today we further discuss the God Of Pain! A possible encounter with Cayde-6 during the Collapse, the Void, Psion abilities and more! Do you have any specific Nezarec topics you want covered? leave them below!
Mykel would be a great villain for a seasonal storyline, something like what Lakshmi did in Splicer. I think we just need more human villains
Yeah, but we’ve already defeated his God. Kind of going in the opposite direction there.
Maybe like plunder with the pirate hunts each time a different acolyte of nezerac
Its too late for human enemies 💀
Why? Honestly what could a human who is basically a cultist do that could cause the current group issues right now, that the nightmares from Nezarec couldn't? Interesting character, but as an enemy it's pointless up add someone that weak as an adversary. You have to been at least on the same level to be considered a threat. I'm not with that might be a cool idea stuff, I'm with what makes sense considering the Guardian has been stomping mudholes in whole God cheeks for 10 years now. A human on the never of that lunatic Brother Vance is wholly unnecessary.
@@evilformerlys4704 it's interessting that no one in Here read the comment ( no offense to you ) cause He Said Like lakshmi.... So a storry Like in splicer... Fight one enemy and have someone else pulling Strings and manipulating us
I really like how unrelentingly evil Nezarec is its been a while since we've had a villain that doesn't have some kind of morally gray motivator and having a genuine monster is pretty cool. I highly doubt he's gone for good though since if he could come back so many times and is connected to minds I'm sure he'll figure out a way to keep going lol
Yea Hes Just Like rhulk but he focuses more on the mindcontrole type of Things
When the Witness killed the fireteam of Guardians, the Titan was kept alive long enough to see his Ghost split into pieces before he was too. 2:30
It's their 100 resilience
@@Morningstar61111too low for a titan
Does this mean Cayde-6's nightmares, and a lot of the Exo nightmares, are because of Nezerec this entire time?
Duuuuuude! Didn't Clovis build the exos because the darkness told him to do so?
@@x2Munky no, he wanted to for a couple reasons. 1) To escape his genetic disease. 2) It would make humanity immortal more importantly he himself immortal.
@@josipjackson2310 to bad it never made anyone immortal as it kills you to make an exo copy lol
@@josipjackson2310 yes, but also he did have the darkness in his ear driving some of his decisions, that's why he studied stasis.
Yes
Isn't it interesting that whilst most of Nezerec's body turned dark grey and to stone... but his eyes still have colour. He may well return, and next time... without the dad bod.
Is it possible that Nesarec does not have a true form and is actually an energy based organism or some kind of incorporeal essence that can inhabit a body. Perhaps Savathuns curse was to tie Nesarec down to the last body he inhabited.
could be a throne world thing. savathun and xivu brought back in a similar manner.
so YES he probably is the essence of pain (as xivu is war/savathun is cunning) and the incorporeal (or real body) part might happen in the throne world.
[when you think about it every organism is energy based]
i think he was somebody and became something, like every disciple.
He has a true form, everyone who worked out works for the Witness was at one time a being born of the Traveler light. Nezarec using Darkness and possibly egregore to communicate to consciousness of others with psionic sensitivity is the reason why he can basically live on supposedly in death, but that was before the Guardian showed up. Not many ever survive death by Guardian, I'm pretty sure the bum who got beat by Savathun is toast.
few acolytes believing in him.
Maybe that was her curse when his body dies he becomes a consciousness of the void
@@evilformerlys4704 If you pay attention when you kill him in RoN he immediatly Starts whispering
So Nezarec was out here collecting different eyes like danzo🤣🤣
I found it kind of disappointing that Nezarec, who's always been associated with Warlocks and dark mysterious magics, ended up looking like a big unga bunga gorilla that runs at you with a club. I expected him to be more slender and warlock-like, more akin to Rhulk
If you look at his depiction during the season of plunder story cutscene, he looks more like a warlock would.
@@CloroxBleach-mh5mk yeah, that would've fit better. Imagine if we get to the Witness and he just morphs into a big ogre and chases you around an arena
I think typically he DOES look like a Warlock, it's just the circumstances of his resurrection and the resurrection of the light and dark kinda makes his body all abomination-y
i like his eldritch abomination design much more than having a rhulk 2.0
@@victormeas7898 eldritch how? He's just a red gorilla. Maybe if they'd given him more limbs or weirder body shape. Even Tormentors; which are mini-nezarecs; look more alien. Just look at the raid armor sets and imagine if they incorporated any of that into his design. It hurts because the concept art had so much potential
Even the raid boss leaves something to be desired 😢
Savathun should really be the strongest disciple of them all. She KILLED one and TRAPPED the other + trick the witness
Love watching these videos 👍👍👍
Yooo what if he had a second faze where psions came and pulled us into his mind scape to finally end his nightmares
"Pain... Fear... Sacrifice... Feed the fiend." - Mykel, Leader of the Acolytes of Nezarec
"Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death." - The Speaker
Interesting that these two mantras, one about the Darkness and Nezarec, the other the Speaker's and Vanguard's motto about the beauty of the Light and the Traveler, appear to parallel one another yet seem both at odds and in agreement at once. It's almost hypocritical of Nezarec to persist after death, an idea that was long considered blasphemous and heretical among the Hive, the primary proponents of The Sword Logic and adherents to the "philosophy" surrounding the Darkness. Likewise, it's been a running theme that Guardians don't sacrifice much through death, as they simply can be resurrected by their ghosts; what truly drives Guardians is the desire to protect that which they care about, as well as a *fear* of losing those things, as we saw demonstrated through Zavala's travails on the Leviathan during the Season of the Haunted. These plotlines serve to further blur the line between the Darkness and the Light, as well as the foundational aspects and preconceptions that we have come to apply to their respective philosophies and core beliefs.
It's also interesting to note that the Speaker's words, though we know now were not given to him directly by the Traveler, may actually have both been inspired by the Traveler and may have inspired the Traveler itself, as seen through its actions at the end of the Season of the Seraph and the beginning of Lightfall: the devotion of the combined allied forces of the Light, including the bravery and sacrifice of Rasputin, inspired the Traveler's own bravery in confronting the Pyramid Fleet directly in near-Earth orbit, which ultimately led to its own sacrifice and, possibly, its death - though we don't know for certain. Perhaps this is all according to plan, then, and the Traveler willingly gave of itself to protect its charges and inspire opposition to the Witness.
Additionally, if we consider these to be directly analogous mantras, it seems to suggest that the Traveler is more a counterpart to the Disciples than The Witness - perhaps our Ghost's comments after the end of the Lightfall campaign (regarding its weakened, but still present connection to the Light) are a foreshadowing of this type of revelation. What if our connection to the Light still perseveres because there is another Traveler-like entity out there? Wild conjecture, I know, but at this point it seems very possible!
@@agirlnamedmichael1670they play crucible guardians are clearly masochistic people they also die for fun
Guardians sacrifice mortality to protect humanity, and now Eliksni and Cabal. Others grow old and die while we remain. We die over and over in grueling agony so that others may live. That is our sacrifice. Though its interesting to note its not our choice. The Traveler made the decision for us. Perhaps thats why it takes our memories, so that we dont know what we're missing.
@@shadowboy0126 I would agree that immortality is a double-edged sword, at least, but it's important to note that not all Lightbearers are Guardians and that being a Guardian *is* a choice. That we watch generations grow old and die while still standing we can certainly agree is a sacrifice. My point was that there's been a running theme that Guardians, because of their gift of mortality, risk much less by putting themselves in dangerous situations, some even choosing to die over and over in order to gain knowledge (Thanatonauts) or choosing to die repeatedly for sport and training, as we see in the Crucible. While I'm certain that some deaths can be extremely painful and brutal, it can't be so agonizing, for the most part, if Guardians routinely make the choice to die, sometimes many times in quick succession. The Cabal, especially Ghaul, long considered us cowards because we don't usually risk our lives in battle, which is antithetical to the Cabal ideal. Even Ghaul had shown growth in some of the Nightmare exposition on the Leviathan, seeing Guardians for who they truly are: people who fight in the defense of people they care about, while *fearing* the loss of just those things. He is even able to see the nobility in our actions, and expresses regret for how things played out during his downfall. The point made through this theme, though, is that Guardians' immortality and superhuman abilities make battle a much less risky endeavor, and so what we risk and can potentially sacrifice in battle and death is not near that of a mortal, but the risk comes from not proactively protecting who or what is important to us, as well as outliving those who are important to us, as you had mentioned.
We weren't given the choice to become Risen, but is that really any different from not being asked to be born? It's essentially a rebirth, and I expect that the reason the memories are taken is at least in part because of this analogy, but further than that, it's about granting them tabula rasa, free from the pain, distractions, complications, preconceptions, and loss associated with your past life. These things serve as a barrier to what is ostensibly the Traveler's purpose for Lightbearers, that is, to be Guardians. However, the Traveler never compels anyone to do anything, something that can't be said of its counterparts in the Pyramid Fleet. I see no reason a Lightbearer couldn't reject the Traveler's gift, either, if they didn't want to go on, but that's a whole other issue that I hesitate to mention.
Once we started getting Darkness powers in Beyond Light, I always thought Void should be moved over to the Darkness side. Lightfall reveals that Light is physical and Darkness is metaphysical: Stasis isn't "ice", it's the effect of absolute stillness on the universe. Strand is pulling the strings that make up the universe. Void is the warping of spacetime and gravity. Those feel like they fit together, where Solar and Arc should be joined by a new, more tangible Light power, like Earth/Nature/Growth as we've seen from the Traveler's beam.
maybe we wilk get those powers in The Final Shape and Beyond
So is Nezerac only powerful when we believe in him fear him, cause honestly what if those nightmares he causes doesn’t effect us at all, or what if we just don’t fear him or even just don’t acknowledge his existence. Would he truly be a final god of pain then?
What really intrigues me is that, despite being a being of almost pure darkness (a disciple of the witness), Nezarec was able to wield a form of energy that we usually associate with the power of the light, that of course being Void.
How was this possible? Assuming that Nezarec commanded void well before his death at the hands of Savathun or course
Nezzy boy about to be the new Taniks
Taniks of the witness
I heard something like this codex years ago and thought it was the taken!! But it was him!
I wonder if he has a throne world or something similer in the psyoinc space
Where the hell has eris been bro, why nobody askin that shit
Obviously smoking Eregore with the drifter. The hive will be front and center next season. As well as titan most likely. So we will probably see eris and hopefully momma sloane in that sick suit of power armor she got.
Wow I’m so early without even knowing
Waiting to see what the veil exactly is tbh
So, is this basically the answer to the Long Slow Whisper?
Evaze bro, I have a running theory about the veil and I'm not sure why it hasn't come up yet. We know it's a door, but what if it's the door to the Distributary where the awoken were made. And the witness just wants to go back home to paradise!!
The distributary is younger than all the parties involved, it was literally the remnants created by the clash which created the singularity. Time is accelerated within that sub universe of this original one, just what in there would be ancient enough to matter to beings who were doing this crap for eons before they showed up on Earth?!?
Also the Distributary didn't create the Awoken, Mara did.
I think there’s a difference between void light and the void itself
Our light abilities draw from existing forces in the universe so if Solar is basically the power of a star at the palm of our hand and Ark the very energies of atoms and reactions then Void could be related to the Void Nezerac and his followers can control
So why would void be a "light" subclass then?
Guardians all talk big about killing gods but we have only ever killed them at their very weakest with 1 foot already/still in the grave.
Psion's helmets also kinda look like nezarec's so there is another reference
Hope he isn't gone, even though bungie probably put any new screen time in the vault...
Would love an enemy that can never be defeated, but temporarily silenced. Adds an inevitability to them--something to always address as time goes on.
Taniks
nezarec is a psychic vampire, a parasite. to truly get rid of him his psychic presence will have to be eliminated.
in other word, we need a throne world/mindscape dimension to truely kill Nezarec and actualy kill him on his true form
The Phantom of The Galaxy is there….
I'm really gonna miss listening to this stuff and playing the game itself I will be away for 9 months to a year and won't have access to UA-cam or the game it's gonna suck cause I paid for the expansion and annual pass only for it to go to waste 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
What if, the acolytes of Nez and the Lysander faction come together to menace the city?
Or work against the witness.
Hiiii,Kayde-6 I was don't meeting because I play Destiny 2 first 1,7 month. Will great if the full game be possible to play And meet full story in Destiny 2.Too I do every day life stream of Destiny 2 of UA-cam channel mili Danisova.its uncut stream.I really love Destiny and Bungie with Team do really great work.Keep doing, stay Healthy ❤❤❤
Weird how similar ahamkara are to nezzy in the sense that post death they still live sorta
Witness walks over us like nothing, Nezarec gets rezzed because Traveler and we go fight Nezarec on the Witness pyramid,, why again? I often ask how do u completely get rid of a entity like Nesarec. Savathun found the need to curse him even after she killed him
Point out the last Raid boss you know that lived after the Raid?!? They all died as far as know. Vault of Glass, Kings Fall, Wrath of the Machine, Garden of Salvation, etc... Raid deaths are usually final because it means the Guardian put an end to them. So far no one has survived a Raid death yet
Taniks about to pull up in another strike in Final shape.
Also I may be wrong but iirc, from D1 lore cards, it's never mentioned that the Guardian went into the VoG.
The VoG is known, as is the whole thing of Kabr and his fire team going inside, however only we know the fate they suffered. My point is that nobody but us seems to know we have defeated Atheon; I do think defeating Atheon in the Vault is impossible for us, as it may be a perfected loop machine. Sure we may kill Atheon, however we don't kill the loop, and that may affect those outside of it as well.
mind you i didn't read any new lore regarding the VoG as I've been only playing the yearly DLC stuff for a while now.
7:29 Is it bad that it took me this long to realize why the raid is called The Root Of Nightmares lamo 🤣
Considering his name implies 'Final' god of pain, are there any other gods of pain? Gods of pain before Nezareck etc..
Been thinking about this for a long time. Glad im not alone.
My best guess is some of these acolytes or psion followers are still out there and once they hear about us killing nezerac again they’ll be ticked off, Nezerac could return due to his mind is still alive and there’s still body parts of him out there so theoretically if his followers get some body parts they could properly revive a more powerful nezerac.
As a follow up theory maybe this is why we need savathun back nezerac somehow comes back and we can’t stop him so we goto someone who knows him well savathun and revive her.
grate video i still miss Cayde 6 as he was such a grate character hope we get something from the eververse to rember the legends that where zavala and cayde 6 just in my personal opinion
Finally first at something Destiny 😮😅😂
I hope the raid of The Final Shape has all of The Witness's disciples as bosses before the final boss Witness.
HELL NO I'M NOT FIGHTING RHULK AGAIN
Nezarac was a eliksni right he fell to the darkness so the traveler left
Seeing Nezarec’s concept art makes me soul-crushingly disappointed with the design we actually got.
He's clearly not dead and will return
With new ai like in inworld we can give these characters more uses and details.
What if using AI to create media of these creatures, AI finds a way to actually create them?!
I know a lot of streamers and players out there think the raid was easier than past raids. but this makes me feel like that makes sense? if this pyramid had been attacked by the traveler and Nezzi just woke up in a body he's never had/that may be weaker than one he's had before?? idk, this was a great look into nezarec as a character. keep up the awesome work!!
Maybe, although highly unlikely the boss is easy because he wanted to die in some capacity and it's part of his larger personal plan? Idk I just like what you said and think it's super meta if that was the case
He was weaker because he was a weak character in the first place, why else would this guy use nightmares and feed off fear? He got clapped by Savathun who didn't have the light. He was weak and the Guardian who killed quite a few Gods, wasn't about to have a hard time with a guy who lost to Moth Mommy. Bungie isn't about to start power creeping the enemies, there was a reason Rhulk was Savathun's jailer. Nezarec was only a bump in the trip to the Witness. Now the Witness saying weird shit before going inside some portal on the Traveler shell. Almost as if it's trying to free the Traveler from this torment of watching it's creations die. This dude is a whole lunatic.
I think we need to start questioning why he was trapped inside a darkness relic, did the witness plan all this, or was it really an accident? It seems to me that the traveler aimed at that specifically, likely never aiming at the witness. Because there are two witnesses, one with the extra white fingers and the other has black fingers, and only one has the orange trail. The first time we see the witness opening that portal they are seeing the end of lightfall from the other side. We do a lot in that raid and it isnt just inside a pyramid.
If he's immortal and a god then why be below the witness...
…Long Slow Whisper…
Okay hear me out……nezarec Halloween event
We should of got this design instead of the raid version. He just looks like a knock off rhulk.
Titan rhulk
I think this DLC has killed off people dumb fast and I don't really like it. (Calus, some story guy, Nez somehow was really weak)
So much better than byfs ridiculously over the top, loves the sound of his own voice, acts like he's some sort of genius for reading through the lore, Bs videos. Just straight forward, read by a normal human.
Far more enjoyable and informative.
Another easy kill
Each time i hear destiny talks about abstract and philosophical like the void or the emptiness, i always cringe, this is really some low level philosophy.
As we say in french "philosophie de comptoir"
It's so lame that he's only ever called "the final god of pain" like once, in the fucking raid itself lmfao. Literally ZERO buildup. Such a tremendous let down. He's not "infamous" at all. Nobody even knew he was called that til the raid released ffs!
@@agirlnamedmichael1670 and since he was just revived in the raid he is weaker since he basically just woke up that’s why he’s kind of easy in the raid
nezarec is such a dissappintment. mind powers zzzzzzz like bruh. still want to know more about the veil bungie. not some oversized chicken thing w no head that has hissy fits w his "mind"😂
nah nezarec was underwhelming and wasted it is criminal people celebrate bungie when they constantly ruin and screw things up
is it just me or does Nezarec look like he's made of Siva... especially like the new titan boot ornaments in eververse
