I think Martha was intentionally meant to be underestimated by fans. She so much better than ppl realize
It’s just unfair that she was the middle companion
Martha is awesome, but she shows up when fans are still grieving Rose.
I think she was supposed to highlight the way in which Rose was special and how the Doctor wouldn't just move on to the next chick.
In my opinion, Martha is one of the best written characters in the show. She is just so real. You could actually meet someone like her.

Yes! Martha Jones, the most underrated companion! Hardly anyone ever says she's their favourite, but to me she's definitely top 3.

I always thought this show did her wrong! She was genuinely an amazing companion and I love her story. She was so strong and she did what was best for her and her family, and I love that about her. Good ol' Martha Jones!
I don't think the show did her wrong, I think it's the Rose fans. Like, I like Rose and all, but some of her fans seem to just hate on Martha for existing even when Rose and Martha themselves liked and respected each other when they finally met.
Martha wasn’t my favourite companion but she was undoubtably the most unique as she chose of her own free will to leave the TARDIS when every other modern companion had to be compelled into leaving, one way or the other, especially since she could have kept going on.
Martha was the only one to figure out that the Doctor was “like fire” and knew when to stand back because he wasn’t the most important thing in her life.
Martha wasn’t my favorite either. But I still believe she should get more recognition for her uniqueness as a modern companion.
I love Martha, she will always have a special place in the series as Doctor Jones, but she isn't my favourite although her story is one of my favourites.
She saw the beauty in the fire, but decided the fire wouldn't consume her like many others.

Finally my girl Martha getting the respect she deserves. She's not always a fan favourite but i have to say out of all the New Who companions she is the most capable (excluding recurring ones like Jack, and River). An actual doctor, uses her intellect multiple times in the series to solve problems without the doctor, makes the choice to leave the doctor by herself and stands by her decision, works with UNIT and Torchwood after leaving, walked the Earth under the Master reign for a year and survived. Martha Jones, i wish we had more of you.

Martha's one of my all-time favourite companions and I've been itching to edit her myself. I'm SO GLAD to see this in my subbox. She deserves all the love in the world, and she's so severely underrated/undervidded.
My favorite companion not because she had the best chemistry with the doctor or that they would have made a better couple BUT because she was the most capable, resourceful and intelligent companion in my eyes. So maybe ten loved Rose or they had a connection, he missed what was right in front of him, the woman who would go to the ends of the earth to save him and everyone. This highlights her power and thank you for that!

The way I see it Martha Jones wasn’t just trying to gain the affection from The Doctor, but the affection of all Doctor Who fans who were attached to Rose. For me she succeeded
Martha is criminally underrated. All companions help to save the world and the Doctor, but she spent years in her finally traveling and saving everyone. She was independant, and did things on her own accord. What an underrated queen.
Brilliant, exactly what I was looking for. Martha is amazing, a magnificent companion, I can't believe people are still talking about Rose or Donna but not about Martha! I love the ending of her story. I love that being with the Doctor for a while didn't ruin her.

Wow don't see many old companion edits anymore but wow I always related to Martha being treated as second best to some guy who really wasn't worth my time in the end and she really was brilliant not my fav companion but she's amazing

And wow she had a lot of good moments and quotes, really highlighting why I love her. Damn she really went through hell.
The sequence of her having to threaten, kill, hurt and just turn into a soldier when she'd started out as a Doctor wanting to heal and help people and she became a soldier instead.
You chose the perfect scenes and it flowed so well! Liked some scenes continuing throughout whilst bits got added in. This is so well done!!
Also yay for the companion who got a choice and chose to leave.

I really like Martha and you really pulled all these different themes together, with her family and the non/violence and stuff, not just the unrequited love and how awesome she is. Those are important, but not all there is to her, and I like my character's appreciated well-roundedly. :)
The thing is, Martha shines the brightest when she’s away from the Doctor.
my favorite companion after amy. a complete and utter warrior, who, like mickey, was way underappreciated and did not deserve the way the doctor and the fandom treated her. she risked her life and her family's lives in his name and he was just like "thanks for looking after me meh."

I wasn't fond of her or liked her much when I first watched (the episodes aired) but she's grown on me so much over the years.
I was missing Rose then at the time as i lost my first companion when Martha came along.
Martha Jones the companion who knew the true doctor and she tried to love him but he was so consumed by rose in the end she became a soldier by the doctor so she had to leave the doctor so she could protect the earth🥺

I was devastated when Rose left, because she was my first companion. I never thought I'd gel so quickly with the "replacement". But within one episode flat Martha had completely won me over ❤️ I was so devastated when she left even though it was the right thing for her!

I've grown to appreciate Martha Jones over the years. She was an underrated companion. The only one in the current series to walk away from the Doctor instead of suffering a tragic fate like the others. Then she became more of a badass in her own right. It would be nice if Martha made another appearance on Doctor Who, just to see what she's been up to since the last we saw her.
I prefer Martha 1000 times more than the current 3 companions. Martha actually reacted when she suspected the Doctor withheld information from her and when she saw bad things happening

He never appreciated her love for him and in the end she choose herself, she choose to leave him so she could live her life the fullest. I don't have anything against Rose or all the other companions but I think she's my favorite companion cause she didn't left herself for him. I hope anybody who reads this at least understands it a little bit :)

The writing in the first four seasons was SO much better than everything after.
Martha Jones is an underrated, underestimated character that reflects the times. Well…she would still be underestimated now. A Black, intelligent, independent, caring, enthusiastic, empathetic and strong woman is too much for some viewers. Martha Jones is fantastic but is reduced to her crush on the Doctor. Yeah! He’s cute and sis came out the gate saving and protecting and being legit and questioning the doctor and SAVING HIM!
What I absolutely love about the show. Is that we have amazing characters who aren't perfect they have flaws but they are perfect in their own way

Underrated companion
Just realised how sad her relationship with him is he used her to get over his grief for rose and it hurt her in the process
I feel like he ended up a bit disappointed and guilty because she ended up becoming a soldier but tbh I like that she moved on an separated herself before she can get hurt
