For anyone looking for an overview of the millennium-long government and affairs of the Republic of Venice, its successes and failures, its interaction with its people and their culture, you won't find it in this lecture.

I appreciate that the Dr is that he brings information, although not 100% accurate it is for the most part contructively informative

renaissance does not mean the top it means re-birth. So they never pretended it was a period of top enlightenment, what they claimed it was a period of renewed enlightenment following the middle ages and it was.

Mark Sassano, they were a nasty and self-enterprising nation. I love the Republic of Venice, but they back stabbed and murdered where ever it gave advantage. They were bold and brazen in their actions. They challenged more than one mighty empires. In the domains of the Mongol Khans, Venetian merchants murdered Mongol officials in their own streets. They were not soft people.

+Salvus967 totally false of course as if a few merchants could do much in a Mongol dominated area. what a nonsense
and as if the mongols were nice people, you forget perhaps they actually invaded 2/3 of the known world and were probably the first to use biological warfare by catapulting plague infected corpses into besieged towns
let's not mention the genocides the mongols committed, nothing of any sort can be attributed to the Venetians who were the first nation to resort to complete diplomacy rather than wars for hundred of years when not attached.
you mate need to re read history a bit

Why do you think millions of vaccines were given to civilian populations and millions of soldiers around the world during WWI and coincidentally the Spanish flu broke out at the end of the war in 1918, killing millions. If you find out who the promoters were of both the war and the vaccines you will find your perpetrators and it is not God in this case.

cats are not adored in Venice. Veronica Franco was not a contemporary
with Casanova and neither was Lucrezia Borgia, Venice is not going to
sink or float away in 50 years
so many inaccuracies, what the hell LOL
