    That was fantastic to watch. Great to see John Saxon and Peter Archer. I was 15 when this came out in London. After school, the night it went on general release, myself and few mates from school, we all bunked into the Regal, Fulham Road (back when it was just the one huge screen) to see it. I'll never forget that buzz the instant that Bruce appears on the screen. Truly remarkable. What an experience.

    For a 140 pound man, Bruce Lee had the power of a 200 pound fighter. Heavy weight martial artist of today feel that they could have defeated a 30 year old Bruce Lee and there is nothing wrong with them feeling that way. However, Bruce Lee in my opinion would have surprised them with defeat because of his speed, power and unorthodox skills.

    Of course, back then as a child and teen I was very impressed by Bruce Lee, both in terms of his martial arts skill and intense and charismatic screen presence. I had been a fan since watching him as "Kato" in "The Green Hornet"; then later as "Li Tsung" in "Longstreet." But as I recall, not a lot of the people I knew watched either one of those shows. And I was one of those teens waiting in line for over two hours to see ETD, still reeling over the shocking news of his recent and untimely death. But even with all that, I never would have imagined that his stature would continue to grow and resonate almost 50 years later - to the point of near-legendary status. R.I.P., Bruce. You accomplished more than you thought possible at the time...

    • @laxer123
      @laxer123 2 роки тому

      stop lyin.. BL wasnt even that famous at the time of his death , he was famous but in hong kong and little bit in south east asia. There was not even any news about his death in the U.S., only a small clip in an unnamed newspaper that said "Chinese bruce lee who played Kato in The Green Hornet dies in Hong Kong".

    • @GA-1st
      @GA-1st 2 роки тому +5

      @@laxer123 Bullshit on all counts. I have no reason to lie. To make it clear, I was an older teen when I saw "The Chinese Connection" and "Fist of Fury" in the cinema around '72, and they were big international hits. They had distribution throughout all of the major markets in the U.S., including NYC, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Perhaps someone who didn't live in a densely populated urban area was unaware of Bruce, but even that is hard to believe. That same year, the TV series "Kung Fu" was a big hit on ABC. Those who bothered to read back then knew that was originally supposed to be a vehicle for Bruce. With release of HK films, the rising popularilty and interest in martial arts, the anticipation for Enter the Dragon was huge. The day it opened, the lines went around the block and we had to wait for hours to get into the cinema. When he died, there were thousands of people attending a memorial event in my city alone. "Famous' is a relative term. Did everyone know who Bruce Lee was before "Enter the Dragon"? Of course not. But A LOT of people did, particularly those interested in marital arts and martial arts movies and TV shows. There are even a lot of people today who have no idea what the "MCU" is! But for those who us who had a real interest and were fans of the genre, Bruce WAS A household name. My parents were sick of me talking about him. All my friends in high school knew who he was. And after the release and success of Enter the Dragon, he built a wider mainstream appeal, and would ultimately become the legend we all know today. You're just wrong, kiddo!

Danny Inosanto and Bolo Yeung who trarained with him the most are too old to repeat his phenomenon skills; this includes Chuck Norris and his business partner, Bob Wall who appeared in four of his movies.
    May his soul rest in peace. He is probably in one of the trillion realms and forms of existence training students and making movies. I don't believe BRUCE CAN DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAN KUNG FU--EVEN IN HEAVEN. GOD WILL AGREE WITH HIM AND LEND BRUCE A HELPING HANDS!!!

    Very sad. Bruce Lee died so young that we are still unable to digest this fact.
    His movements are as ferocious as a charging lion.
    Deadly sure that no Bruce Lee will be born again.

      He popularized martial arts in western film so really there can never be another. He was a decent actor and fantastic businessman selling his brand.

    When BL holds his leg up to O'Hara at 120 degrees, and having just got my Blue belt in Shotakan Karate and how I trained to be agile and supple and hold my leg at various heights, I knew Bruce Lee was the f******g man!

      Maybe Clint Eastwood comes second, but not in the same league really.

      @Edd 1 Not sure I'd agree. He was more a cocky showman, a lot of it was an act to psych out his opponent and rile the crowd up. I'm thinking of a certain look, where the person doesn't blink, holds their gaze and doesn't flinch in the slightest no matter what is going on around them. Where they look at you as if you are nothing to them. The funny thing was, Bruce Lee was nervous as hell when he started filming Enter the Dragon. You wouldn't think it to look at him.

      It's always difficult to answer these types of questions... as to "who's number one" in this category or another. One thing's for sure. Bruce Lee certainly belongs on any list of iconic individuals who've influenced countless peoples & cultures in various ways.
