- It's very blowy on the Grand Union Canal as we head out of Lowsonford on our winter narrowboat adventure, heading north on the Stratford-upon-Avon canal towards Kingswood Junction before turning on to the King of the waterways, the longest canal in the UK, the Grand Union Canal.
Colin uncovers the dirty dealings of the canal builders of the 1700s, stories of collapsing aqueducts, bribery, corruption, and arguments over thousands of tonnes of stone.
We check out the history of Shrewley Tunnel before stopping for the night at the top of the famous 'Stairway to Heaven', the Hatton Lock Flight on our journey across Britain by Narrowboat.

Well being in Customer Services I can safely say I’ve had one of the worst weeks in my working life dealing disgusting idiots that don’t take travel insurance and it’s everyone else’s fault but theirs... 😡, So like every Saturday I come down stairs, grab the dog and a coffee and watch you two funsters 😂 all that giggling and frivolous fun made my morning, Thank you lads, Shaun you have some excellent manoeuvring skills btw! Oh Colin and Shaun, I think so many of us really needed something funny, something uplifting, something to take our minds off the current situation. Many of us are worried about layoffs, many are already out of work, including my son and daughter-in-law who were forced to close their two Salons. You two though, brought us a wonderful if not delightful gift this morning, you two painted so many smiles upon our faces, you brought us much needed joy through laughter; thank you for that. And I too, am dealing with footprints. . . Just how do I keep my cats from walking on top of my shiny new piano :O Shaun deserves much credit threading Silver Fox through the narrow channel with 15 knot winds blowing directly crosswind; I'm sure the Bow Thruster got a bit of a workout there. Kudos to you as well Colin keeping the drone right side up in that wind, we all never tire of the wonderful birds eye footage you provide. I loved the history lesson of the Barrel Roofed cottages as well as the info on Rowington Cutting. I find all these Canal history tidbits very interesting, your careful research is not lost upon us. You two brightened my day, I really needed this!

You went past my mum in laws back gate, ( woohoo mumsy 😚 ), her back gate is famous ,a barge got into difficulty and started sinking right outside her back gate ,my brother in law and his drunken mates who were having a summer boozing contest heard their cries for help rushed up to the canal , most of his mate's went home but my B.I.L and his mate Brian dived in and rescued them two kids and all their gear , which was stored in mum in law's garage until they could get a fight home .. Their pictures were in the paper's and everything , They don't remember much but they read it in the paper's the next day 😂 Hope I gave you a giggle take care lovlies x

Full marks to Shaun for the masterful helmsmanship!! Another great journey with you guys. Very excited about next week. Grew up in Warwick and Leamington (actually it’s Royal Leamington Spa!!!!) and lived next to the canal just after the locks by the cape of good hope pub. In fact my sister still lives there. Also had a friend who lived in a house backing on to the Hatton flight and spent a lot of time messing around on those locks

If I had a horse I would name it Bonnie (as long as i was femalel of course) I used to live 1 house away from a small field at the bottom of the street in South Elmsall and in that field was a horse called Bonnie and my family were friends with the owner and I would go and see and pet that horse nearly every day, even rode on it a few times and that one was called Bonnie, though I would hope mine would be black, or white.
I really do enjoy the little history lessons you give in your vlogs, you keep them brief but striaghtforward but fun, I was going to start making notes of all of them, and then realised that Colin was writing a book so will be loking forward to that when it eventually is eventually out for purchase. nice one buddy.
