Had the pleasure of seeing them live. All 3 , Chris, Sara, and Sean, are such great musicians. The song When You Come Back Down is one of my favs of theirs....
I have always loved this song. There is a whole journey of love and joy. Followed by despair and loss. It makes you feel as if the lighthouse itself is alive and full of so many emotions. Almost makes you wonder what else the lighthouse has seen.
I’m hearing this group for the first time and I love their sound. I especially love the fiddle, banjo, mandolin and vocals. It’s wonderful and I will explore more of their music. Thanks Harri and Anne🌺✌️
Just saw Nickel Creek in concert, March 24. I am a longtime fan. The second song they played was "The Lighthouse's Tale". They sound great live. You should check out more from their catalog.
Brother you have embarked on a beautiful journey here. Nickle Creek is an amazing band. Chris Thile is a musical Genious and among the top mandolin players anywhere. From the same album check out Sweet Afton, The Fox, When You Come Back Down. Also a little newer check out Destination from their Tiny Desk Concert. Then check out Chris Thile with his other group Punch Brothers doing Familiarity live. That is an amazing performance.
Chris started out when he was very very young. He was a child prodigy on that mandolin. Then he hooked up with the brother and sister and formed Nickle Creek with his Dad or their Dad playing the stand up bass. They could be considered Bluegrass, especially in the early years, but now they are more what we like to call Retro Blugrass or Fusion. Its hard to classify a genre with them. Lighthouse tale will always be one of my favorites though.
I'm sorry for the sad songs. Spring is shaking out her petticoats in anticipation of the change, and I hope that April finds some happy music to send you. This video is so restful on my eyes, and the three musicians are some of Bluegrass' treasures. Although the song has a tragic ending, it is a beautiful love story. Nickel Creek's harmonies and musicianship are simply some of the best ever. I sent this to you to make you happy with the music, not to make you sad. I'll search out a couple of songs that will have you feeling as if your ears were spilling over with diamonds, I promise.
This band require a lot of listening they come from bluegrass were there are many songs that the story doesn't end well.they sing write songs and play in 2001 they probably been a band for over 10 years they started as kids.and continue to get back together make new music, and tour.
I would love for you to react to Mean Mary! Murder Creek, Sparrow Alone, or Born to be that Woman are all great picks. Also, i think every soul on this earth would benefit from hearing If we were Vampires, by Jason Isbell. Keep doing your thing, i love your channel

I've also had the pleasure of seeing them twice in concert. They are all three very talented and love their music.

But cant do a thing about it, just a witness.
Somewhere I read that they were known for their happy songs and they decided to write a sad song, and this is what they came up with. Whew!

Their Smoothy Song is a nice listen. Some extraordinary picking.
So many great songs. Green and Gray has always been a favorite. Also check out Chris's band Punch Brothers.
Love the channel! You should also do “when you come back down” from this same album. One of the most beautiful songs ever written
