What I love most about this channel is how Audrey gives such applicable advice that is vague yet spans different body types with a particular specificity. Magic.
Yesss the Canadian tuxedo is timeless! 🇨🇦 👖
I love the long coat/jacket trend. I started wearing them a few years ago because I lived in Europe and had to dress business casual everyday. Being cute AND warm was a must. Picked up the trend from watching what other people were wearing and I’ve never looked back. I find a lot of success with vintage Preston and York coats. Often they are well constructed with an nice inside lining.
The only thing keeping me back from getting a beautifully long, cute coat is the fact that they are often a) not waterproof and b) have no cap.. not very weather proof
i love this trend as well. Am still looking for the perfect coat though, because I want to keep it for years. Problem is that I am super tall and even the longest coats don’t look they way they supposed to…
denim on denim
tailored long
ballets flats
all black outfits
sleek boots ankle or higher
sheer tights / stockings
baseball caps
As a Canadian tuxedo loving Canadian: Yes.
Black is my signature color! So excited to see this beautiful color celebrated 😂
The trends that you feature in today's video are great classics. I would love to see you create a video where you show how you will be styling denim on denim.
I was confused by the term "long jacket"; to me, that would refer to boyfriend blazers or suit jackets. The items you were showing were definitely coats, not jackets. I've been wearing those long coats since my 30s. I'm nearly 70 now.
Jacket and coat are commonly used interchangeably. I don't think you were confused, I think you were being curt on purpose.
@@LDM805 Good 👁️
@LM that's rather curt of you. I've never heard anyone call a calf length coat a jacket
In my area, anything that's not a winter coat is a jacket (though I'd guess that's not technically correct it's a colloquialism).
Ballet flats is something my feet will regret about in in 5 years.
All those trends are in my opinion classics which are never out of style. If you are on the hunt for great tights get yourself Wolford. The items are made in Austria, are pricey but last and last. I am Austrian and I have never purchased from another company. My oldest pair might be over ten years old (and I wear them a lot, no handwashing!).
So true. I never knew tights can last that long until owning a pair of Wolford.
I’ve got a Wolford bodysuit I’ve had since 1998 and it still looks brand new.
Yes! In October 2004, I was vacationing in Paris expecting to go bare-legged. Well, it was too cold for that, so I popped into a department store and purchased a pair of black Wolford tights. Here I am still wearing that same pair of Wolford tights, winter 2023!
You're voice is so soothing.
I'm so glad I didn't get rid of my long coats, it seems I have so many coats and wanted to get rid of my long ones but figured no I'll keep them, glad I did.
I never stopped wearing denim on denim 😂 I’m back in style ❤
Love your content and your voice. So lovely to listen to. Your style is even better these days...seems more modern looking.
I love all black with fabulous accessories. Easy and classic.
I love hats. Last year I wore my black Lululemon baseball hat everywhere including Rome. Hats were my saviour during my grey hair transition. I agree with this video's trends. Thanks Audrey.
I loved how you exemplified these trends! Great outfit inspiration! Thank you lovely Audrey ✨
I’ve never been a hat 🧢 wearer. On a day 3 hair day …. It works ! Running errands etc
I have a denim jean jacket that perfectly goes with a certain pair of jeans. I paired it with a ruffled Jean Paul Gaultier cream colored ruffled shirt. It’s cute and makes a great spring outfit. Both were in my closet already and I didn’t have to spend a dime. 🎉
Love all the suggestions Audrey, thank you so much!!
Audrey, you have this amazing gift of being able to share your opinion with such care and kindness. :) I have a long coat that I've had for close to twenty years now and people still give me compliments every time I wear it, so I love that you talked about this.
Adore you Audrey! Always the most classic and timeless xx
I agree with all of your pics! Wonderfully summarized. I also have my basic wardrobe and particular style but am starting to watch trends again to be able to buy things that I love AND that are still classic enough to wear for years. Trends also make it fun to try new things.
Brilliant video to start 2023, thank you Audrey
As always, so relaxing and interesting. 🥰 I like that most of these, I can already do, with the exception of those long coats. They look to die for and I do not have one! But everything else I could incorporate with at least one or two pieces in my closet. These trends come across as timeless and classic and I'm excited about them.
Enjoyed the video and will never give up on the classic styles u mentioned. I am 52 y.o and saved a 90s sheer black column dress with very subtle beading . It came with a black slip to wear underneath . I still get compliments when I wear it.
Denim on denim! I am so glad to hear this, I always thought it was a no no to do so.
Wonderful! I have a few of these already! The jackets, all black and tights. I don’t wear baseball caps but I have a variety of hats. It’s fun when my style is a trend.
Since I never have any idea what's trendy or fashionable at the moment these video are always a nice way to get a feel for what's going on right now and what might already fit into my day to day style. I love the long coast and will definitely try the denim-on-demin look and maybe a darker baseball cap. I only have a very bright one for the summer.
Amazing video! So helpful! Happy New Year, Audrey!
Thank you! Great ideas!
Great point about the boots! I may need to put it on my wishlist.
Audrey is fulfilling to hear you talk and explain the trends. In New York 🗽 during the winter months there’s a lot of “Wednesday Adams” effect which I love. I had to admit that monochromatic is an easier way to dress for me. Your sweet voice is always a plus to your videos. Happy 2023 to you and your family.
Love love love!
All things I love! ❤
Thanks for another great video!
I loved how you curated everything & it does seem applicable as well. Also, it reminds me I recently wore Denim on Denim after so long, & it looked really good. And long tailored coats are my all-time favorite. Like you said, TIMELESS :)
I'll admit that I'm very rarely on trend but absolutely adore when the things I like are trending. It makes it easier to find pieces that will last me so much longer and even pieces that are comfort-zone adjacent.
Might just try the ball cap. Thank you Audrey.
Just the video I needed!
I’m a Canadian and I do not avail of this Tuxedo. Tragic! I would like to try it this year. Tights/Boots and all black are some of my absolute favourites, it’s never gone out for me. I’m really loving navy as of late, I think it’s a power colour for me. I feel great in navy! For long coats, I’m on the hunt for something that fits well as I am petite like you at 5’3.
Great video!!! Thank you!!! ❤
Thank you so much for your pragmatic approach to dressing and style!
I have seen over the years ballet flat going in and out of style. For me, they have always been in.
My favorite pair is a 20-year old, J.Crew Made-in-Italy pair that Ive had repaired over and over because they are perfect!
In addition, I love my Repetto ballet flats!
Dressing in all black is another favorite style for me!
Thank you so much!
Navy Blue is my “go to”, when I can find it vs black. I’m older and fair in complexion. Black drains me out, where Blue works better for me. It’s a no to the clunky, chunky shoes! My preference is something more sleek and feminine. A nice blazer with a pair of dark wash, high rise jeans on my frame is a definite win. I just have to find those perfect jeans. Lol! I have already check your video out in that one. Audrey, you are a sweet gem. Love your videos, your quiet demeanour, and your wealth of knowledge. Keep those videos coming. 💖
Lovely as always.
Love all of these trends!
Love! Another informative and inspiring video thank you Audrey love you honey Happy New Year to you and this wonderful community!
i like how baseball caps look on other people, but i can't seem to pull them off. i generally have difficult with hats because i have a large head and super thick/dense hair
What a lovely video. Thoroughly enjoyed every second.
Thank you very much for these interesting ideas Audrey!⚘
I love the tips Audrey has given us. Many of the styles she suggests mean that I just have to shift and shuffle what I already own to be "on trend." Need to find a chambray shirt to replace one that was well worn and given up a few years back.
Lovely! Good choice for me for my first fashion vid watched this year. Well expressed & illustrated. Thank you Audrey.
Another excellent video! I really appreciate videos where you feature pins and Instagram posts. You have such a fantastic eye and I appreciate the diversity of images. Love denim on denim and long coats in particular. I might just try a baseball hat!
I am totally on board with finding ageless classics that have both staying power and (if cared for) last forever! I do wear baseball caps. You really need to try them on because the shape of the crown can vary dramatically. Since, I've been wearing them for years, I'd gotten a little tired of always grabbing one when I need a simple hat; so, I decided to invest in a "flat cap." "Flat caps" are a group of hats that are usually one of the many styles of "newsboy" or "Ivy caps." I have a black & grey, wool "Ivy cap" that has the extra piece of fabric on the sides which lifts it a bit. It's fun when it rains, I throw on my wool Ivy cap, a scarf and my long trench . . . ;-)
You are officially the sweetest and most uplifting UA-camr :) I haven't watched one of your videos in ages but clicked on this on a difficult day, and your smile, musical voice and style tips were such a cheer-up. Thank you! On board with all your tips here except the ballet flats... I'm slim but my legs just don't look good in them, they just look dumpy on me. Lol!
@miabrown8612: have you tried a flat with a very pointed toe? I find that the ‘toe shape’ of a flat makes a HUGE difference!
Love your take on the trends!
my favorite person ❤❤❤ Audrey ,thank you for creating with love n positivity
And again an amazing video! thank you ❤
Thank you Audrey for mentioning denim on denim. I have a lot of denims and chambray blouses. Grateful I didn't give it away. I also love silk and linens actually.
i would add chunky boots to this. maybe not the extreme platform kind, but living in a cold place i appreciate the extra grip on the soles when walking in winter. and some of these are added to classic boot styles that dont go out of style (like chelsea boots). so practical. now i cant imagine buying shoes with flat surface on the sole or no grip.
Happy New Year Aubrey!
I’m excited for the return of maxi coats. I can’t think why I ever got rid of the one I used to have. I love my cashmere mix baseball caps from Uniqlo - I’ve got a navy and a black one and they feel cool and effortless but fun.
❤❤❤love it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁
Nice video. I like the photos you included for inspiration.
I just want to say, im so inlove listening to your videos..even im not watching..just listening to your voice make me interested of the information..so relaxing
I wear a long flowy raglan sleeve overcoat when I go to cold places. It goes over biker jacket, blazer, cardi, vest really well. My bums and legs are protected against wind chill. My coat has been with me for over 35 years. Still can’t replace it with a new black coat.
I'd like a video on how you care for all your clothes. Do you wash your wool and silk? Dryclean everything? How do you deal with yellowing on white shirts? Do you steam, iron, or both? How often do you wash things like sweaters? Every time you wear it?
I love the denim on denim look ❤
Thanks Audrey for the double denim tip. When I lived in Germany, the look was called a 'Jeans Anzug' or Jeans Suit (not in a good way) , but the blazer on top made all of the difference.
I’m in the U.S. but have heard the look referred to as a “Canadian tuxedo”, lol. I liked the look best with an accompanying blazer as well.
I am german. Trend or no trend, a Jeansanzug really is only appropriate as workwear in a garage, stable or garden.
Love the baseball caps.
Great Tips…. And I love my baseball caps!
I was expecting more than just baseball caps... I'm still waiting for when the pretty hats return.
Audrey this video is so phenomenal! Love your voice and all of your points. You chose such classic styles and make such brilliant points about styling sustainability 👏👏👏
Doesn’t she have the most delightful voice ! So sweet.
I have worn a denim on demin outfit for a couple of years. I got a little shade for wearing the Canadian Tuxedo, but it makes me feel confident. It's very edgy and more street style, so I wear it often.
Sleek boots, woohoo!😄
I love denim on denim 😍
I hunted up my old cap and will wear it with my trench! Thinking about the tights/ stockings. Not so sure. Loved the video!
Love the pointy toe ballet flats. Not excited about the oversized look, did that in the 90's and it didn't look good then either 🥴
First time here! Love your video ! You have soothing voice! 😊
A great video
3:17 my fave youtuber showing my other fave youtuber ❤❤❤
Hi Audrey: I always enjoy your videos and appreciate a lot of the trends you feature in this one. Just wanted to say, though, that IMO, whether we come to regret purchases has at least as much to do with our lifestyle as with the beauty and classic quality of an item. For example, I would absolutely regret buying a long coat this year because they’re just not practical for me: I drive a lot and prefer an above the knee length. 😊
Well said
@@korenbrigham I totally agree! I lived in NYC & Chicago for years and used my long wool coats & silk long johns every winter. This winter it’s been unusually cold where I live now & I’m so glad I saved the long johns as I’ve been needing those & my longish down coat for the ten minute walk from car to office! 😊
Lovely video Audrey. These seem like classics to me. Bought a denim shirt recently to try the D/on/D look; ❤️❤️❤️ tights, especially w/fun patterns in cold weather- and ❤️ polka dot nylons - wore those a lot in the 90s; all-black or all navy is great too, and like you said, if at least one item has special detailing (lace/eyelet); ❤️❤️ boots - recently found two classic pairs of Dr. Scholl booties (one black leather & one tan faux suede (Amazon) that are super comfy & will last for years; being 5’2” I’ve never enjoyed wearing ballet flats; ❤️ long coats, just don’t have any currently - saw a classic, adorable calf-length ballet pink coat in a movie last year & wish I could find one like it; baseball caps: I only wear when walking/hiking or gardening.
i have two long boots pair and two long coats which i kept on using since 2018 been 5 years and still look good
You have a very pleasant voice. Great video 👍. Many greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️
Hi Audrey🤍 Love your style and appreciate your great fashion advice! Can you recommend a ballet flat that has a higher cut in the front, I love them but have trouble finding them and the lower front cut is uncomfortable for me. Thanks so much💋
I can’t wait to see you in a baseball cap Audrey, I can’t imagine it! X
I love your videos 💖 and I enjoy most of the trends, especially the black one 😁 but the ballet flats are just not my thing. The soles are usually too thin and make my back hurt.
Lol same! To me, they're impractical and not cute enough for pain lol
Podiatrists caution against wearing flat shoes. From a podiatry website:
"The ideal heel height is 1 inch. Wearing a short heel is better than not wearing a heel at all. Wearing a shoe with a short heel places less tension in the Achilles tendon and will feel more comfortable."
@@wisteria808 that explains a lot regarding my favourite shoes 😄Wearing well cushioned high heels hurt my feet less than wearing flat, badly cushioned shoes.
Black is awesome! Monochromatic especially but sexy with jeans. Denim on denim may give it try after a long time. Sure can pull it off 😊
Hi
You have such a sweet soft voice. Love your 2023 trends suggestion. Good vlog thanks for sharing 💖
I have been trying to find a good winter long coat since a while now. But haven’t found any. Dear can you recommend some brand ?
Thnxxx
I bought my ankle boot from Burberry in 2010, and as I watched your video, I didn't realize it is on trend this year, yey!
I love the look of ballet flats but they never worked for me.. I think I have shallow but wide feet that's y..
But excited to get sleek boots and good caps!
Would you share what kind of exercise or workout routine? Need some inspiration for the new year and have a feeling u might have some elegant tips
3:25 definitely! Most timeless, go-to and long-term piece I have been consistently wearing my entire life (👧->👵) 😅
3:25 ballet flat recommendations (never owned the classic Chanel ones) from a ballerina addict with narrow feet:
Boss (esp model Thaide), Bloch (company that primarily makes pointe shoes but also ballet flats), Massimo Dutti, brand called “PrettyBallerinas”, Carolina Herrera.
Salvatore Ferragamo supposedly makes excellent ones, too, but I never tried those.
Happy New Year! I like that you have done this work for us. Some of them I like, some of them I hate, but I will be prepared.
Coats always look better in long. The shorter knee length ones just look strange to me and they don't work with dresses or skirts. Another trend that is going to stick are retro sneakers. They have been here forever. They've been replaced by more chunky styles, but if you stick to retro shapes you'll be good.
demin outfit, be right with the footwear, the faux-pas will be waiting here
Dear Audrey, concerniing boots, have you ever checked the Inez boots. It is an amazing highend shoecompany. The make really beautiful shoel and boots! Best regards to you!
Thank you Audrey. I think we will look back at some 2022 and 2023 trends and think we looked like wearing someone else’s clothes 😂 but that’s ok! Happy New Year
I’m
Confused all if which you mentioned were never trends more more staples or classic clothing/ shoes . I’ve always had these in my wardrobe.😊
I prefer opaque tights in winter, and sheer tights in Spring/ Summer
