    I loved this piece of music since I heard it on the radio in 1977 when I was 19. The music uses Hora as the rhythm to reflect the strong Romanian folk music style. When the famous folk music “Skylark” appear as the climax of the music which feeling very exciting.❤🎉

    I love this piece so much! It begins so simply and sweetly, like a shy young man inviting a pretty girl to dance. Then little by little it becomes more passionate until the whole village is dancing in a Dionysiac frenzy! It was a joy to watch the conductor dancing in his own Dionysiac frenzy, and the musicians keeping up magnificently.

    I just had my first experience meeting a Romanian lady and asked her about leading classical music composers from Romania (knowing as I did, very little). She suggested this very piece and I must say I was thrilled by every aspect of this presentation, from the exciting beauty of the piece, and the joyful enthusiasm of the entire orchestra. Very uplifting!

    I'm 73 and I remember this piece from way back, around 10. I marvelled at it then and I still do. How could Enescu have so many changes in the piece and yet make it an enduring one that will be around for a long time to come. A very positive and lively piece of music. Bravo to the orchestra and conductor.

      Enescu didn't compose in a void. His work is to a large extent inspired by Romanian folk music. Romanian culture - music included - gathered lots of influences from many cultures it came into (most often brutal) contact with, but had about a thousand years to properly integrate and harmonize them - that's what Enescu built on.

      Trebuia sa-l asculati pe Maestrul George Georgescu RIP. Jansons face figura de student din banca II-a în clasa lui Georgescu. Eram înca copil (8-9 ani) când l-am ascultat pe Maestrul Georges Enesco conducând Rapsodia la Atheneu. Venea deseori la noi, vara, la Sinaia. Era prieten (în muzica, altfel erau ca pisica si câinele) cu matusa-mea mare Cella Delavrancea.

    • @jeanghika7653
      @jeanghika7653 4 роки тому +2

      Pour ceux qui ne comprennent pas le roumain (qui pourrait leur en vouloir?!): Il aurait fallu écouter le Maître George Georgescu (1887-1964). Jansons est plutôt du calibre d'un élève de Georgescu. J'étais encore gosse (8-9 ans) quand j'ai écouté le Maître Georges Enesco conduisant sa Rhapsodie à l'Athénée (de Bucarest, orchestre Philharmonique). Il venait souvent chez nous, l'été, à Sinaia. Il était ami (en musique, autrement ils était comme chien et chat) aavec ma grand'tante Cella Delavrancea, la pianiste. Le Maître était, malheureusement, affligé d'une épouse à ne pas souhaiter à son pire ennemi. C'est pour couvrir les énormes dépenses de celle-ci, à Paris, que le Maître a continué à donner des concerts, alors qu'il aurait du se reposer et se soigner.

    As it's getting on toward autumn, and I've just been watching a cozy video about Ukrainian homemaking and cooking, I was in the mood to hear Romanian Rhapsody 1. I've loved this piece since I heard it in elementary school back in the 1960's. The piece is so evocative of a sunny autumn day at first, then I think of sunset and wild celebration.
