My favourite movie..for many reasons. I was in Scotland while it was being made, and it was a beautiful relaxed summer in Greenock that year. I was about 15, and loved that the cast captured central Scotland and kids like my cousins on film, and sweetly. Jazzy music was lovely too. I met Claire at a London bus stop 3 years later. I said: you were in Gregory’s Girl.Smiling shyly, she said, softly, yes I was....
I saw this in 1982. It was ok, a bit over rated in my opinion. Real people don't act this way in real life but we go to the movies to escape the horrible world we live in. Another Gregory girl should be made.
Awesome ! I know actors hate being reminded of 'former glories' if they're trying to do new things. But this movie was probably the first ever movie about 'normal' teen life that EVERYONE could relate to ! Gregory's girl remains a favourite of mine even now !
I was a pre-teen when I saw this movie on HBO in Houston, Texas and when I bought the vhs tape of it; I would watch it all the time. My favorites of the movie were 1. Clare Grogan in her little beret. 2. The saxophone all through the movie. 3. The view of twilight in the park as they are leaving. I remember seeing the movie without the "Americanized" Voice-Over and it was a big shock. I love this movie.
This is my go to movie if I'm feeling homesick or nostalgic! I just love everything about this movie and it was one of Barry Normans favourite films which says a lot....thanks for uploading this, I loved it!
Watched again last night on bbc iPlayer & it’s still incredible, I was 9 when it came out & it was so ahead of it times , before thatcher we had grants for arts etc ..
My grandma and great aunt were born in Fife, Scotland and brought to Canada, then California as kids. I dragged my mom to see this movie in the theater when it first came out. I was so intrigued by Scotland and wanted to visit so badly. Finally did, after my mom passed and got to take my young 10 yr. old son with me. Such a magical time we had there, spent 40 days total in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Just wandered around with no agenda or plans. Flew back to the states as hurricane Katrina hit.
I saw Clare and Altered I mages last night in St Albans, she was great and still looks like a babe at 55, me thinks Magic to see her bring her kid on stage. Whata gal
The most heartfelt original identifiable coming of age film of the 1980's wasn't any of the mean-spirited rubbish from the U.S. that us outsiders and socially awkward American teens were told were our experiences. it was the incomparable Scottish realism of "Gregory's Girl."
Dee and Clare looking totally gorgeous 😍. Gregory's girl is a fantatsic film. I first saw it when I was at high school aged 14 in 1988, we watched it in class one dy. Ive watched the film many times over the yrs since then and i was also watching it actually yesterday on Prime. Its a film that never bores u and me watching it now as an adult almost 50 🙁, the film is still gr8 and still funny. The film also has a fantastic feelgood to it. Btw back to when I saw it in High school, only downside was that our teacher didn't supply popcorn 🙁😥🤣
Bfi please do one of your fantastic bluray collector editions of this film! I have the standard bluray but it would be so much better... C P Grogan still in love
Maybe if you watch some other of the director’s films and see if they’re as quirky as you think, then see if it’s just G’sG ? Forsyth’s humour is subtle and exploits the nature of the character of the folk the cast portrays; sometimes genteel and witty other times ribald but never gross. “That sinking feeling” is more a boy’s own script whereas, this movie imho was more balanced. The natural humour and vitality shared by the actors in this interview is the essential component of the original: uncomplicated, innate and particularly local.

We need a nicely nice film, comedy and mild drama to escape this horrible world.
@@09weenic check your underpants.
I love this film and Dee, Clare and John are still looking great to this very day.

I too saw it in Houston in the theater when it was released.
Do you remember which theater?
As I recall, it was the River Oaks Theater. I saw a lot of foreign and indy films there.
This sinking feeling
I still have the VHS

Wow....what a find! Thank you so much for posting this! One of the great films of Scottish cinema
As the years go by it becomes clearer and clearer that Bill Forsyth is one of the best we've had or will have

Superb! I love this film and it's just brilliant to hear these stories!

When praising this film you don't have t put down the u.s. :P Movies like Last American Virgin are realistic. Life can be cruel.
Some films though teach important lessons like The Breakfast Club
"Don't touch the ravioli. It's garbage."
....Ravioli please...
A lovely film!
Be proud to star in this film, as many of us has it as a childhood memory, and it resonated with many of us.
"Reverse, down-trap-up, turn, steady, kick..."
My favorite line has to be " I want to be Gregory's girl"...thank you for sharing...
Thanks for the post. What great people.
I felt a real warm glow watching this.

So seems im still in love with clare grogan
John must have enjoyed the scene with the wee pest at the door-"Gawn piss off" .
Interrupted by a three minute commercial that I can't skip.
When timing something I still count using the 1 elephant, 2 elephant, etc I picked up from this film.
Me too
@@jonathanrichardson7969 That's hilarious
I still use: “Arrivederci Gordon. Hurry back!” in general conversation.”
GG ..One of the loveliest films ever made.
Dee Hepburn still looks stunning today! As does Claire......
A magnificent slice of life
The girls still look great, especially Dee.
Can you even imagine Scorsese driving a wee bus around, wth Pesci, De Niro, Di Caprio etc
Beautiful interview. Beautiful people. Beautiful film. Alan fae Dundee.😁😁🤗🤗
Second best film ever made......was first for a long time..... then Kes crept in again.... superb.
somebody turn the volume up , can barely hear Clare
Bfi please do one of your fantastic bluray collector editions of this film! I have the standard bluray but it would be so much better... C P Grogan still in love
"te lo dirò!" 😀
No one asked Clare, jokingly, if she would ever marry Dave Lister and move to Fiji.
I love Gregory's girl!!!
#LOVETHIS
GOT IT ON DVD...
John Hannah is from East Kilbride also.
Kochanski was a little cutie.
BELLA BELLA!!
Don't talk to me about Gregory's Girl.
Loved this movie!
Never knew that Rob Buchanan was supposed to be Gregory.
VERY good film
Love that movie.
Wow, must watch again..55 now..so time to chill out, my young lad will not watch it..
My dad had me watching it when I was wee, I hated it.
What’s it called…? Cumbernauld
Best film ever copied by Bend it like.Beckham. It created a sensation. In school that's all we talked about. Everyone loved Dee
Their names are Dee Hepburn and Clare Crogan - Scottish Legends. Give them some respect and dont just credit them as "Gregorys Girl Actor"
GROGAN
@@laurencelevene4333 auto orrect
The author probably didn’t know how to spell their (spelt correctly😊) names either.
They have all aged really well.
Dee Hepburn is heavy. But she does not look old at all, really.
☮
Do you really need to comment on her weight? I think we can all see that. 🤨
@@prezakid9 And we can all see they look good (for their ages).
Funny you did not knock me for mentioning that.
Bye now, Snowflake.

Creeps fancying Clare Grogan
There's nothing wrong with fancying someone!
I have always thought the director/writer tried too hard to be quirky.
