I interviewed Clare in 1979 for the Durham Uni student newspaper, when she was fronting Altered Images. I was totally captivated. Many years later met Gordon John Sinclair in a pub in Oxford. I bought him a pint within seconds. Lovely people.
One of my most treasured and favorite films I’ve ever experienced. I was 19 at the time of its release and it resonated with me very much. I still to this day, 40 years later, watch it at least once a year!
I'll never forget the throwaway shot in a school corridor, as an extra dressed as a kangaroo walked by in the background, behind the principals in the foreground. The actors never alluded to it and the kangaroo never reappeared. Had me in stitches, LOL. What a wonderful film!

Charming movie. Saw Chic Murray walking into Magnum Leisure Centre in Irvine New town around 1983 he was walking into Magnum to do a performance that day. I was about 10 and going for a swim. He heard me say"Oh theres Chic Murray!" He just looked around and gave me the same look he gave the boys as he played the piano in that great movie!!!

My favourite film, total nostalgia for youth. I once saw Clare Grogan in the Clockwork department of C and A, Glasgow. Was too shy to speak to her and she was really concentrating on her shopping.
I first saw Gregory's Girl in 1988 when I was 14 and going through the first real pangs myself! I related to it hugely, and watching it these days, it never fails to take me back to those feelings of young, desperate infatuation! Good to see Andy and Billy again too!
Clare in her Adult yrs is absolutely gorgeous. I actually met her one time in Edinburgh station when she was waiting 4 the exact same train 2 London I was waiting 4. I chatted with her on the platform for a good 10 mins b4 the train arrived and then we boarded. Unfortunately we was in different coaches. I was in first class like she was but she was in the next coach along 🙁. But the nice thing was when she walked along 2 the Buffett coach a couple of times she stopped by me and said hi, stopping 4 atleast 10-15 seconds and chat. Lovely lady.
what a great film , i remember seeing it and wondering about those seventies new towns that this was shot in and what it was like to live in such places with trees and houses (i grew up in the inner city of bethnal green where trees were in short supply and shit hung in the air it was dangerous and yet Gregorys world seemed safe and fun strangely a couple of years later i would be playing on the same bill as altered images ... and (along with playing against the lovely terry sue pat or benny from grange hill )was a highlight and clare WAS as pretty as she appeared in real life and very sweet
I was a kid in America when I saw this in the early 80's, and the setting/town always struck me as a bit surreal/alien/artificial...but in a good way. It looked like a really nice and clean and open place...felt very safe and sweet and pleasant. So it's interesting to now find out why the place looked that way. Never knew it was a new/planned town, like that. Totally makes sense now. But as a kid it seemed like a different world with a totally different feeling from anything I'd ever seen. It made the movie feel all the more lovely. Like they say, sometimes the location is its own 'character' in the movie.

I remember being late for something (date/meeting mates ??) In the late 70's/early 80's and I was running along Princes Street in Edinburgh - as I ran around the corner into Lothian Road I collided full-on with a girl (who was with an older woman - maybe her mother ??) and sent her flying onto the pavement !. It wasn't until after I'd helped her get up and sputtering profuse apologies, that I realised that I'd knocked down my crush, my heart's desire - Clare Grogan !. She was really nice about it, actually laughing which helped dilute my great embarrassment!

But we got the dubbed version, since the original Scottish was apparently too thick for our ears!
