It's great the way she listens so hard to the questions and gives good answers. I'm not sure anyone coming out of the British school system today would have those skills.
Clare was unique & more influential than she gets credit for. The band was great & made music of a quality that is now considered timeless and classic.
Gordon Bennett...she's adorable (at least here). Feminine, very pretty and funny with a sarcastic tone. There is definitely a good brain behind those pretty eyes.
There was me thinking the 'sweet little girl' thing was probably a bit of a stage affectation - but she does really seem to have genuinely been like that. Hmm, better stop watching this archive stuff, or I could get quite smitten with the wee lassie all over again...
Loved her in Red Dwarf, was very dissapointed when they re-cast Kochanski and the actress they used was nothing like the Kochanski of the earlier seasons.
Just posted this in another thread: Clare's character was so likeable, which made the viewer root for Lister in his efforts to marry her. With the new Kochanski, the viewer is left wondering why he even likes her in the first place.
@@Shaunography But that was really down to the writers. With Rimmer leaving the show for season 7, they decided to make the Kochanski character try to fit a 'diametrically opposed to Lister' kind of vibe that was similar to what the Rimmer-Lister dynamic had been. This meant that the Kochanski character had to be the opposite of what the earlier version had been. Clare herself only made four appearances as Kochanski anyway, and in total she had very little screen time on the show. Chloe Annett had to adapt to Kochanski being a full time crew/cast member. I still think she looked as hot as anything in season 8, especially in those 'Canary' uniforms. I would have sacrificed myself to save her from jealous Listers harpoon, well... maybe not, but her knickers would still be among my most treasured possessions.
Scotland's Shirley Temple :) In an era many singers just wanted to wear a cold irritated look, she lit up the scene with her cheerfulness, a little bit like Sunny Gale - also a 5 feet something singer - did in the 1950's
no mate, we weren't. and neither was claire. she knew exactly what she was doing, playing the 'little miss innocent' to appeal to the record-buying public (aged 12) back then. friends went to uni with her and confirm she was totally up herself (and probably still is). I love 80's music but media whores like claire kinda got in the way.
"friends went to uni with her" ... now which university would that be? After she left school (1979 or 1980) there were several years of recording and touring. as well as a couple of films. There's nothing in her biographies that mentions her going to university, which would have occupied the years 1980 or 81 to 1983/4. I think you're making this up.
sorry to burst yr bubble but I personally know 3 people who studied alongside her and all tell the same story: grogan was a me! me! me!, overambitious and grossly under-talented wannabee ( I can confirm that last bit: I saw her front altered images when they supported U2 at northampton college in '81 - a constant screech that the audience soon got fed up of and headed for the bar. forget the cuteness; just another unpleasant opportunist on the make.

What an absolute little sweetheart. Clare Grogan, 80s heart melt!
would give almost anything to go back to 82....love claire...😍
the early 80s brought us loads of great music, fresh, interesting and creative sounds. wish i could say that about present times.
Sid Fernandez Very true!

Her 20th birthday was 11 days before this.
She was such a doll.
She is amazing❤❤❤❤❤Even now.
The word is Charming.

Were we really this innocent in the 80's?
Favourite bits of this interview - 1:06 "No". The nod at 2:02.
Great voice .. why not as big as Madonna or as Cyndi Lauper.
Because she was Scottish and her fanny stuck
Utch Punk what an intelligent and articulate response. To be expected on here.
Marketing.

@@KebabMusicLtd I agree with you. It's not a criticism of Chloe because she did well with what she was given
😍😍😍 Clare 😍😍😍
Cutie!
Humble. Did not wish to "rule the world".

I grew up in UK in 70s and all we saw was the beautiful Dana who was equally beautiful.
At 1:26 is that Brent Spiner? Data from Star Trek the Next Generation?
" I look like a boy most of the time"...not any boys I know Clare :D
I think she was referring to her short hair she had for a time. I found it very attractive
If Kate Bush had a Scottish accent, at age 20 she's have sounded a lot like Claire Grogan.
She's 20 but looks about 7
As with the first Aunt Viv, the first Kochanski rules!

aw, did I say something nasty about claire?
You could have least spelt her name correctly considering you claim to know so much about her.
