Nice review. I'm a massive fan of this game, such a compelling world and I find the gameplay extremely satisfying. Best telekinesis in a video game yet. Although for anyone watching this for some reason the brightness has been turned way up, game is normally a lot darker.
i LOVE that its a shorter game, thats a pretty big deal for me since i always feel extremely busy definitely gonna give it a go, got it from amazon prime today for free
This game actually did so many things I never thought I'd see combined in a single game. Open/Metroid-Vania + telekinesis + physics mechanics + destructible environments + infinite ammo + one morphing gun + female protagonist that's not overly sexual or misandrist + challenging bosses that makes sense. Most games don't do all of these things into one game, and this game did it very well. I just hate the live event thing where if you fail, it's just gone. Oh, and the map. The fucking map...!!!
I got the platinum for the standard version a couple of months ago. I was surprised how much fun the game was, and it's definitely something I'll come back to and replay in the future.
This game seems trippy and weird but also like it could get mindly frustrating with the hidden puzzles depending on how complex they are or if you just completely miss them. Definitely seems like something you might need to dedicate time and patience for and not something you could put down and pick it up again in a few weeks.

(as another sidenote: If you're still wanting game suggestions, I would suggestion a few:
Bastion
Pyre
Cultist Simulator
FTL: Faster Than Light
Enemy Mind
The MEssenger's Picnic Panic DLC
Recettear: An Item SHop's Tale
One FInger Death Punch
Rimworld and Factorio
Gemcraft: Facing Shadows (although, given there's over 400 achievements, I wouldn't recommend it for the show, more for something like Beard Bros.)
maybe something like Motorsport Manager (actually, even though I usually don't play that genre, I wouldn't mind seeing a few more racing games on here unless that's also not your thing)
Spelunky
Waveform
XCOM (I don't think you've actually done a Complestionist Ep. of any of these, so)
Spacechem
Rubek
Slay the Spire
Darkest Dungeon
And I would beg you to find one Guitar Hero/Rock Band game that looks feasible to you and complete it, even if it's with some friends. I know that they aren't games you're good enough at to complete yourself, but I know there's plenty of people online that could help (...unless online capabilities are gone now).
You’re recommending Bastion AND Pyre but not Hades? Bruh
@@DrGandW Pyre and Bastion are the only two SUpergiant games I've actually seen, and of those Bastion's the only one I've played. Based solely on Bastion, I'm inclined to push for any SG game to be played (seriously, why hasn't he played Bastion yet?), but that's why. I may be blind or ignorant, but I've never heard of Hades.
This is a great game and I recommend it to anyone. I got the standard edition at launch and aside from some small performance issues, the game was fantastic
I've been waiting for next gen to play control, seems like the kind of game that will benefit from the hardware upgrade. Definitely gonna be among my first purchases for PS5
This is exactly what I did and just finished it on PS5. Def don’t forget to go back to it the next gen adds a lot to the experience
This game is an absolute masterpiece, thanks for completing it Jirard!
Ok but those invencible interdimensional pulsating balls of death
Are fucking terrifying
Super underrated game... I earned the platinum for this game twice, in the ps4 version and the ps5 version. I juste loved this game
@17:21 realizing just now that an older Alan Wake looks like a younger Peter Stormare
Do I know what game you're talking about before I come? No.
Am I a huge fan of many new games after hearing your passion? Yes.
yo we get a walt whitman reference and appreciation for story and atmosphere in this wonderful review. thanks. just bought this game on sale on steam
Just like Control, Jessie Khalil at the end is equal parts amusing and terrifying!
This game has been on and off my wishlist for many years now. I think this video finally sold me on it.
This game is amazing. I just got Platinum, and did everything on the DLC and i still want more. I can't believe the compete edition was free on PSN
Control reminds me of a modern Second Sight. I loved Second Sight. This video just made me purchase Control. Can’t wait to play it.
The game will look fantastic on next gen, some rooms where thought of with ray-tracing in mind and when you get to see it...it is jaw dropping. Like infinite mirror rooms and stuff like that
Daaamn I never connected the dots, I didn’t know what to do with that TV and thought it was just a nod to the former director that is being used as an energy source
I feel like this is going to be the type of game I'll play 3 years from now and wonder why I waited so long
2 more years to go! 😃
Its been 3 years have you played it yet?
Those who enjoyed this universe and would like more:
SCP: www.scpwiki.com/#
Consider it probably the main inspiration for the game. Dive on and enjoy!
Meow Wolf: meowwolf.com/
An interactive experience akin to the AWEs in Control. There's one in Santa Fe, New Mexico; there's a new one opening in Las Vegas, Nevada; and a third site planned for Denver, Colorado. If you get the chance to go, DO IT
Spend the day there and try to piece together the story because it's wacky and creepy, and just plain awesome.
I rage quit Control after fighting a certain optional boss but damn, it really does kick ass.
Ah, there it is, my nemesis... 19:11
6 months too late but with former you can grab those white balls it shoots and launch them back at him. Make sure you have a mod for quicker energy recovery plus increased health from pickups and just sprint across the whole map to reposition so you don’t accidentally fall into the holes it leaves behind
The first time I saw that Control and Alan Wake are in the same universe was such a good feeling! Truly shocked
I love this game so much. Sadly I’ve played it on a regular PS4 and had to play the game with sooooo much lagging. Hope they fixed that for my console since I last played
Nice review. I'm a massive fan of this game, such a compelling world and I find the gameplay extremely satisfying. Best telekinesis in a video game yet.
Although for anyone watching this for some reason the brightness has been turned way up, game is normally a lot darker.
Damn. Can't believe there's a new president AND new completionist on the same day
I'm surprised that SCP Foundation inspiration wasn't mentioned at all :D
i LOVE that its a shorter game, thats a pretty big deal for me since i always feel extremely busy
definitely gonna give it a go, got it from amazon prime today for free
This game is so incredibly dope, but I feel like nobody talks about it. People slept on this game WAY too hard.
Ok, I haven't played this and didn't intend to until watching the first few minutes, and now I have to play before getting spoiled
Wow that’s the first complete it we’ve gotten in a long time
They recently released a Cloud Version of this game on the Nintendo Switch
I got the platinum for the standard version a couple of months ago. I was surprised how much fun the game was, and it's definitely something I'll come back to and replay in the future.
One of the best parts, Poets of the fall, are hidden in the game. They’re also in Allen Wake as Old gods of Asgard.
This game seems trippy and weird but also like it could get mindly frustrating with the hidden puzzles depending on how complex they are or if you just completely miss them. Definitely seems like something you might need to dedicate time and patience for and not something you could put down and pick it up again in a few weeks.
One of my FAVORITE game's of all time
Just beat Control. Great game. I should've played it sooner. Deserves a sequel
Control 2 is already in production and you can play Alan Wake 2 while waiting for it.
