Thanks for the review, this one would've definitely slipped right under my radar without it. Looks like the brokenness of Isaac Runs combined with the 2D Platforming of Rogue Legacy - drenched in the titular neon lights. I'm in!
Wow man, I can across your channel a good while back and it had maybe 10,000 subs... Searched for a review of this particular game and you popped up. Congrats on the growth.
Any of you played Moonlighter? I love roguelikes and imo it is up near that quality tier with a unique element of running a shop and trying to manage selling your loot by adjusting prices and meeting demand, etc... It's a lot of fun. Go on a run at night, bring back the loot and try to sell it in the morning.
I just saw an ad for this game and had to find a review. I'm about to play the demo but I definitely think I'll be buying this because Binding Of Isaac is probably the game I've put the most hours into. I've been trying to decide what game to buy next, this looks like the one :)
Did you ever find it frusrating or difficult to dodge enemy projectiles due to how busy the screen is with all your weapons, abilities, and ... conga line of children?
LONG RANT: The wisdom/violence system is awful, the concept is cool but the execution is flawed and will probably leave you frustrated a lot of the times. I've had plenty of occasions where my wisdom bar is almost full and the next room has 1 asshole that immediately turns a canister/chest from wisdom to violence by attacking it. That's where my wisdom bar turns into a 24% filled violence bar... So either I'm forced to take damage for the reward *OR* I'm forced to go scour the map for what feels like forever, trying to find wisdom canisters and chests to revert the bar back... if I can get them at all. And even if you do get your way back to wisdom you might encounter one of those bad rooms *AGAIN* I'm also really not satisfied with some the eggs thus far, I'm trying to do a no-death save and then: get explosive shot -- get an egg -- egg hatches into an orb that orbits you and blocks all incoming and outgoing attacks.. well you see how that ends up not being a fun run. Forgive any spelling/grammar mistakes cause I just came out of a run that was exactly like this and I'm pretty mad. I hope the developers introduce something like blast protection from your own shots and enemies being unable to touch the wisdom chests/canisters to rid the game of this frustrating nonsense. Overall the game is pretty good, but so far my favorite rogue-likes will stay: Dead Cells and Enter The Gungeon. Right from the get-go Dead Cells and Enter The Gungeon are games that allow you to complete a run without you ever even having to take a hit... Neon Abyss isn't like that. Sorry you had to see this.
ok, i can agree Sligthly on Wisdom canisters, it would be nice if enemies couldnt destroy em. but in rest you either just seem to be a bad player or just complaining a crap-lot and not proving much
I just discovered this game a few days ago and can see why I missed it - let's be real, Hades BURIED so many of these games in 2020 but Neon Abyss is a true gem. It's over a year old but hey, better late than never. Very glad I bought this as I can already tell after 30 mins of play it's going to consume me and I'm ready for it.
This game looks awesome. Will you check out Golden Light? It's a surreal horror FPS roguelike. The demo was interesting but I'm not totally sold on it.
I’m playing this game, it’s really addictive, the problem is it doesn’t tell you what an item do before picks it up but the game is awesome, don’t skip it.
Ouf, a 9.3? Dead Cells (2020) has a 9.4 if I remember correctly. This looks like Enter the Gungeon but with a few cool ideas and additions, the eggs for example. Just bought Dead Cells in the Steam Sale after following the game since early access, #patientgamer. Absolutely loving it, 15hrs in, it's addicting af. But this looks really interesting, had not heard of it before. Will wishlist it for sure. Visually a bit too much maybe for my taste but I'll see. Thanks for the great review, really know what to expect now.
a damn good rougelike been playing for awhile and its definitly got a ton of option i have gotten yet. I would not say its better then Isaac though McMillen put his heart and soul into that and came out with rougelike Gold so it still has awhile before it can hold a candle to isaac
In the first level I found 5 weapon upgrades and got the easiest first boss. Felt crazy strong, so I immediately fought the next boss and destroyed them. I did this without really collecting loot and got killed on the fourth boss, never get too cocky-
Honestly after playing the game for hours, this might be the first time I don't agree with a review you make. I feel like the game is average, It's fun but it lacks in so many areas.
How every review I’ve seen says this game is amazing but when I look on meta critic and reddit the reviews are mixed in hesitating hella hard on this one
@@asianpablo1574 because if you approach it like a reviewer, where you just need to play the game couple of times and scratch the surface and see what's up, then it's good and well made....but when you go deeper and pass the 10 hours playing time mark, you start realizing the game is not that deep, runs dont feel any different than each other. The item diversity is not special because it's always stats up or get this when you do that, there are no game changing items like in Isaac. So after beating the game and having an ok ride....I dont see a reason to come back....and for a roguelite like that which is based on doing randomly generated run to have runs that feel the same is a major issue.
Dawn how is it compared to gungeon and Isaac the main reason I was getting it was because it was a mix of enter the gungeon with Isaac and the exit the gungeon style but if it isn’t that depth as the other two I’m not going to pay 20 for it
Was my comment deleted by you, Alex? I can see it just fine when I'm logged on but if I watch the same video and check the comments in an incognito window my comment just doesn't show up. I don't know if this is your doing or UA-cam.. if it is you that's rather unexpected and disappointing.
Xbox one X version I got massive frame drops on 2nd big boss fight HAL pretty much unbeatable as I can't react to the attacks because the game freezes then when it unfreezes I just took a bunch of damage. Too bad because it's a great game and I don't want to give up but it's BAD when I use this upgraded gun that splits off into many tiny bullets
@@BoomstickGaming Thanks for your reply mate just checked on PC and unfortunately you cant remap the shooting to anything else... gotta keep the twin stick scheme and I cant get used to it such a shame on what look like an awesome game.
Far too many small issues with this game that soon mount up and it gets painfully repetitive quickly. If you've never played Enter the Gungeon get that instead, its a lot more challenging but far superior.
Game looks like a blast - thx for review! Not sure if u shared this info or not, but would be great to mention what platforms the games will be on. Keep up the awesome work!
Disagree with this review. Repetitive enemies with no variation, levels all look the same, egg system is annoying and can go against you. Bosses and guns are the best part of this game but it is far from good. Meh/10.
Why anyone wants to play this type of game in 2020 is beyond me. The art is always so misleading too. I'll see cool ass art in the Xbox store.. click on it and it's pixelated ass 2d games all the time
I understand there are a lot of 2d pixel graphics games, but they tend to have more interesting mechanics than many photorealistic AAA games these days.
Imagine thinking that an aesthetic only being enjoyable in a certain year. How is the art misleading? This video is showing all gameplay. So glad I’ll be playing it when it comes out and thoroughly enjoying it.
MrIDGAF pretty sure binding of isaac has way better gameplay than this though, I may be bias but for me, Isaac has more variety with weapons, bosses, items, basically everything (i’m talking about afterbirth+). Theres many *unique* item synergies and I feel like many of the items in neon abyss were straight up stolen from isaac and just attached with a new sprite. I’m fine if you want to change my mind though, since i’ll say it again, i might be bias

Very well made review as always :)

I have been seeing ads of this game for months now over on instagram and now it finally comes out. Can't wait!

There are so many gaming review channels it's hard to keep up. I appreciate it when I see reviewers coming from a fairly objective viewpoint.
Great video, been waiting for this game for a couple weeks now. Its pretty great so far :)
Ballsy title but if it's up there with Isaac, Dead Cells and Gungeon, I'll buy it immediately.
I ll probably too
I've played all the of the above and is the best I've played since Isaac

Fantastic game! It deserves a larger fan base. Hopefully it gets more popular so we can look forward to Neon abyss 2! 🤞
Welcome to the first roguelike with Brain Lord-style assist mechanics. Love this look, loved the review.

Literally an ad for this game before this video started
Did you ever find it frusrating or difficult to dodge enemy projectiles due to how busy the screen is with all your weapons, abilities, and ... conga line of children?
Sometimes. Yes. But not enough to mark against it.
Thanks. I think I'm especially bad at parsing that kind of visual info, so I may stay away from this one.
Thanks for the review. Looks like a fun game.
I'm definitely buying this just hoping I can see all the enemies on the screen after all power ups/etc
Reminds of Enter the Gungeon in a lot of ways
it reminds me of exit the gungeon but more fleshed out.
@AgentFlea and twice the fun
