Just before this scene, when they're getting into Guinan's car to come to the park, Guinan says: "You're looking for a Supervisor, otherwise known as a Watcher". Gary Seven from _TOS: Assignment: Earth_ was a "Class 1 Supervisor".
it wouldn't be the first time the Q Continuum stripped Q of his powers. Deja Q (episode)
I think you’re onto something, look at the transporter effect when Gary seven uses the “safe“ transporter from “assignment earth“ and then look at the effect when the watcher of abducts Picard they look extremely similar…
@@ragtowne agree 100%
@@damirbabic8168 But he always known that what they going to do. An in Voyager he seem have gained a significant more power and influence in the Q continuum than in his STNG days. Here the lost of his powers seem to take him by surprise. I wonder if it the watcher doing. We know Federation technology can allow them to enter into the continuum and operate their. So the right technology might be able to stop Q.
@@ragtowne The watcher being people being behind Gary Seven was one of my bets. Look like I was right.
Dude looking at that transporter effect, that is definitely the Gary Seven transporter! These might be the same aliens that raised him!
BINGO!
I looked at the thumbnail and thought that was the Undertaker for a second there!
Dammit, I thought it was gonna be Wes Crusher, thus vulnerable to the 'Will Wheaton dice curse.'
Nope the best part was the cameo of the punk from Star Trek IV on the bus. Fun fact: same guy playing him and same song on the boom box.
Kirk Thatcher, I believe. He wrote the song.
It was actually the continuation of the song. "35 years later and nothing has changed. I still hate you. Can't wait to eviscerate you."
Nah that bit was shameless fan service
It was a different song. This one was “I Still Hate You”
Anyone notice the name “Jackson Roykirk” on the building the female student leaves that Q tries to influence? He designed the Nomad probe in the TOS episode “The Changeling”
Damn, that’s a true fan with a photographic memory
I immediately noticed that too!
Yeah; I did.
Then he must not be the brightest Q on the branch you would think he would look ahead to see what the federation of fool's do with there scientific and military based technology everything from nomad to the phase Cloak to the slip stream drive Janeway Crew worked out
@@jamestopoleski9255 Gary Seven was a "Class 1 Supervisor". Guinan even says that "Supervisor" is another name for a "Watcher".
When the Borg queen mentioned the watcher I remembered that episode of TOS with Gary Seven said his mission was to observe Earth.
I was thinking the watcher was Gary Seven himself.
was my thinking too
Or a colleague tasked with a similar mission.
Just before this scene, when they're getting into Guinan's car to come to the park, Guinan says: "You're looking for a Supervisor, otherwise known as a Watcher". Gary Seven from TOS: Assignment: Earth was a "Class 1 Supervisor". So it could be Gary Seven, or it could be a colleague. I wonder if it's Roberta Lincoln (played by Teri Garr originally).
@@OptimusWombat could even be the cat, they do keep us humans around to do their bidding after all :P
@@themisspultone true. I remember that the cat shapeshifted into a pretty hot woman, too.
Between this and the other preview showing Q having lost his powers I'm guessing that the aliens from TOS "Assignment: Earth" have the ability to cut the Q off from their powers, at least temporarily. Now all that needs to happen is to tie this all in with the temporal cold war and we'll see temporal agent Daniels and the USS Relativity.
That would be a great connection to past Star Trek series. Too bad I doubt the "writers" are that copitent.
Organians might have that ability perhaps they are involved.
We need Sarah Silverman to reprise the role, mission director of the Europa mission perhaps. I'm surprise Seven didn't name drop Tom Paris or Kim as the reasons she knew how to drive a 21st century car.
I hope we will see a video scene of the riots in the Sanctuary districts. An Sisko faces, and Picard recognises him.
@@DavidKnowles0 I wouldn't mind that.
Smoky door effect is an updated version of Gary Seven's teleport vault from "Assignment: Earth"
It took me a couple of minutes to recall who the heck Gary Seven was :)
I wonder where "Isis" is now...lol
And still looked like an adobe after effect
Q from Impractical Jokers as the dog sitter for Guinan! Knocked me for 6!
Wow! Star Trek has taken a radically different turn and wound up in an entirely new reality.
Does that mean it’s good?

I don’t know. She rocked those Romulan ears. She was gorgeous in that scene with Picard in a way she wasn’t during the first season.
@keir farnum She has a different hair do this year and I think that helped

The events in Time's Arrow should have still happened as the timeline hadn't been changed yet, and yet Guinan doesn't recognize Picard. It was confounding.
But those events require the same or similar future sate as TNG. With the new hell scape future those events would not play out the same.
@@AnaduKune interesting Theory, Guinan has been shown to know when there's something wrong with the timeline like in yesterday's Enterprise and the fact that both Picard and Guinan were the Nexus in which the normal rules of time do not apply should have at least protected them to a degree
It’s been a few centuries.
@@AnaduKune you’re forgetting that the change in reality was due to a temporal change in 2024. The events of mark twain and data’s head have already happened at this point, and will happen until the change in the timeline.

What happened to Guinan? She changed alot since the 1890s, did she go on a diet?
also she seemed to have forgotten him too, As he was kind to her. Also they could have just Deaged whoopie like they did with john,
I'm good w/ the Supervisors being on earth, wonder if Gary Seven and/or Roberta Lincoln might show up?
Nevermind them. What about Gary Seven's cat?
Now there is intrigue !
The Watcher possessed three people to keep Picard from being followed for 30 feet?
Think about these 3 things:
1: the Borg Queen gives Picard the coordinates for the Watcher. Picard finds Guinan at those coordinates, but She Is not the Watcher. Why did the Queen give those coordinates then? She couldn t have known that Guinan could be useful to find it.
2- Raffi phasers the windshield of a car and then pulls the handle to open It.
3-jurati knows Picard coordinates but says to Raffi and 7 She doesn t know where he Is.
I'm puzzled.
why are all the comments so freaking negative. I love Star Trek in all its iterations, and am just thankful there’s so much new content. Star Trek has always been about change, and every new show was once the bastard child. The amount of hate next gen first got when it replaced tos…the hate enterprise got foreverrrrrr. Y’all are mad when there’s no Star Trek, and mad when there is 🤷♀️ do better
Probably because some people like quality. But apparently there are ones no eat up everything as long as it's called Star Trek. There's a difference between being nostalgia purist and hating bad writing with unlikeable characters.
1:33 feels like a Tim & Eric bit
What if there is a cold war brewing between the Q Continuum and the Watchers and Earth is the battle ground?
Reminds me of a sci-fi film with exactly that premise, two groups of aliens in a screct war, with earth as a sort of neutral ground, the aliens looking like ordinary people until you see them though a special kind of sunglasses
Just checked "The Love War" or "The Sixth Column "
A 1970 sci-fi film with Lloyd Bridges and Angie Dickinson
One thing I noticed (I get Time's arrow never happened in this timeline.) But even that in mind? It never explains how she got there in the first place. As in Generations, it was the Enterprise B that pulled her out from the energy ribbon. Maybe the echo of herself? So, How did she get there from her home planet? I dunno...This episode has a lot of meat on it. Like a tough $3 steak, Gonna have to chew on it for a while....
In our timeline she was already on earth willingly in Times Arrow. She thought data was sent by her father to bring her back home. After she was done listening to humanity she left earth right before World War III went home. Then sometime later the Borg attacked then she was evacuated out then the events in generations happened.
Picard and crew were sent back to this time because it’s an nexus point in (not related to the ribbon). Don’t forget this is also the time that the guardian sent Philippa to. He sent her back in time before the mirror dimension split off from the prime timeline. Maybe this Confederation timeline it’s because of the influence the Philippa had prior to the split of the mirror dimension and the prime timeline.
@@Freeman42718 Well that makes sense in that episode(Probably she may had even been there still in the Time's Arrow ep, She just never met Picard. Just gonna have to forget it was Whooppi in that episode- LOL) As she probably seen WWIII coming and got the F out of there. But that is not what I was saying. Never fully explained how she got there from her home planet in that timeline tho. I am sure this won't be the last time we see of that younger version so they will probably explain how. This season of Picard has been great. So many easter eggs. You just point at the TV and go "Holy shit" LOL
Time's Arrow *did* still happen here, as those events took place WELL before the timeline was changed and diverged. Guinan should have recognized Picard eventually once her memory was jogged, but it never seemed to click with her. I found that very odd.
@@Freeman42718 the Guardian only sent Mirror Georgiou to a time when the prime and mirror universes were still aligned. She could easily be sometime in the 23rd Century. There's nothing (so far) that says exactly where she went, especially not to the early 21st.
Since everyone is bad, im say the profits have white eyes. Oh the theories
Can someone post what's next it's driving me crazy
I feel cheated! Lectured for only an hour! On top of that, I didn't think I could dislike Guinan any more than I already did! But these oh-so-bright writers, I'm just glad the "president" of the universe wasn't in the episode. Must be saving this nugget of gold for later!
Wow, there was absolutely nothing Guinan-like in this Guinan. They sucked out every charm Whoopie Goldberg had.
Maybe some people's personalities change over hundreds of years. Just a thought.
Yeah but in fairness they did the same thing to Picard
Picard seems like a bumbling old man now. He was sharp and decisive in years past.
this just crap
@@davidkruse4030 It doesn't help that Patrick Steward is old as fuck irl, age changes your appearance and behavior.
She is depressed by the way humanity has screwed up their planet and society, obviously a low point in her time here... if she stays like Picard suggested she see thing go right in about a 120-140 years ....
How about the Organians from Errand of Mercy? Would they somehow be involved in changing the past especially considering in that episode they were able to disable both the federation ship and the Klingon ship and had foresight that the federation and the Klingon empire would become quick friends.
Guinan got younger after looking like Whoopi in the nineteenth century? This El Aurian ageing changing thing makes her part changeling I guess? Or is she half chameloid?
The Age goes up and down, depending on what the writers want
The show is pure trash
@@SBezmy better than discovery
@@KamepinUA I mean, I’m sure they’re aware of “times arrow” where they all met mark twain and guinan looked the exact same age in the 1890s as she did in 2369. The writers totally know about that? So naturally they made guinan a kickass young woman in 2024 because that was, like, a hundred years before the time of Star Trek Picard in the future? 😂
It’s almost like this show is fucking terrible
I thought Whoopi had signed on for the season. But she was replaced. And who was the mysterious woman with the book? Did they replace the actress who played Soji? I loved this episode, but I felt like I was having a mild stroke while watching it lol
I think we have pretty much has all of the scenes from the trailers. So we know as much as you!
I don't think she been replace. Suspect either the next episode or the following we will return to the future.
Have to wait a day before I can watch the episode, but why did they recast her?
The recast didn't bother me... she needed to be younger and I don't think they have the Disney budget to de-age her.
@@briangressett902 I don't like recasts, I would have prefered de-aging (Don't they have 10 million per episode?) or just older whoopi (I mean they explained that el aurians can look older if they like?)

all strong super duper womans ..ugh this show
The fuck are you talking about?
He's too old, man. They should have made him the "wise, old sage" and just retconned Rene as a new protagonist. Think Admiral Anderson and Commander Shepard.
I don't follow. Can you elaborate?
@@brettcooper3893 I'm not buying this Picard as a leading protagonist. Nothing against Patrick Stewart but his lines come off as struggles to speak, he doesn't have that booming dignity that he had. Obviously that's not his fault but as far as characters go... He just doesn't belong in a leading role anymore. Hate to see it. If anything, I would begin laying the foundations for a new TNG-era protagonist and if we want to keep the name "Picard" on this show, then get some fresh, new blood to take the lead. His Nephew, Rene would be a good opportunity and since "Generations," unceremoniuosly wasted him offscreen and forgot about him, why not use this as an opportunity to bring him back? He'd have a close relationship with Jean Luc since they're family and it'd be a "passing of the torch." Rene gets his hands dirty on Missions and Jean Luc advises him from an Admiral's Office.
Problem number one. Rene and his family died in a fire in “Generations”. Two. Picard is much older here and is in his 90s. He is no longer a captain and doesn’t feel the need to be commanding or as righteous as he was. People and characters evolve and change. It’s 20 years since the Nemesis came out.
@@matthewkissau981 Yeah, I already said they pointlessly wasted him and Jean Luc's whole family in "Generations," so retconning him isn't a problem, considering how many liberties Picard S1 took. And yeah, that's my point. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. He's 90. Not that he's changed, but that he sounds like he should be bedridden instead of saving timelines. I already said thay wasn't his fault bit it definitely weakens his character when you see him stumbling for breath after 2 words. Rene Picard would be a sensible next step and with the power of his Uncle's name behind him. Retcon away!
She never leaves Earth, possible no El-Aurian Nexus adventure. Kirk might still be alive as the 1701-Bs deflector didn’t explode with him there.
She probab;y left after the foundation of the Federation, as in, "OK now they got this" went back to her homeworld, came back when the Borg attacked it.
@@evildrone2 I think she will leave at the end of the series. But Picard will show her just enough of the future before he leave to convince her that humanity has got a bright future ahead of itself.
This is then explains why the Al Aurian knew that the Federation existed and would be able to protect them from the Borg.
She will also see the Queen and the Borg and the friendship forming between them an Picard, which once of the timelines sorted is what convince Guinan that the Federation an Borg can be cooperate.
If they really smart this will lead to may be the 6th season of Discovery being able the galaxy facing the threat the DC-10 was hiding from. An there key allies being the borg.
TNG takes plce many years after TOS, remember the episode with McCoy, he was like 130 years old.
Kirk was probably dead or retired by then.
seems like there is a lot of retconning going on in this entire series, omnipotent q's get their powers taken away? earth seems to be swarming with fricking aliens on the 20th and early 21st centuries..what next? the moon is an egg containing a giant moth? earth is the host/incubator for 20k mile long alien?
A Gigashadow lives in the Earth's core.
Just like the Cluster.
Bring on Stanley Tweedle and the Lex.
what's with his eyes?
The Guinan thing pissed me all they way off... She should know who he is.
I think it makes sense this way. Because of the Divergence creating the Confederation, Guinan wouldn’t have been on the Enterprise D (if there ever was one) and Time’s Arrow would never have happened because General Picard wouldn’t have gone in the past. So in one of those timeline things, Guinan wouldn’t recognise him but feel she should.
@@kieronspoors1608 Then those cop cars shouldn't have had laptops, and the Confederation ships should look way more TOS. Without Futures End happening we should all be using 8 bit computers still.
@@Zahgurym we had laptops in 1996, just not good ones. Technology would just evolve slower.

@@xxlCortez I know, it’s a big ask reincarnating Star Trek in this era of depravity. But we can only try and offer suggestions and hope for the best.
