Well now ya know I guess haha ! :) The reason we do it is to give artists that are just starting out, a chance to try to use the beat without having to pay anything. But if the song DOES blow up then we get compensated.
@ProdFluxoxo what if it takes 5 years to reach 5k streams? Still have to pay up? I completely understand why you do it but could it legally be used as a trap knowing someone is likely to get a few thousand views within a few years? I'm sure it depends on the type of person the producer is on rather he'd go after the artist for it, I'm just curious as to how the situation is normally handled.
@@christophermatt7754 if you want some exposure i can post them for you? i’ll hold your producer tag in the description and such :) as long as you don’t have a producer tag on the beat it would fit on my channel 🖤
what i do is it i like a beat i’ll make something kinda similar but with my own added stuff or i’ll take stuff away but it’s kinda never really the same it starts out the same as the beat i liked but i always end up changing it 😭
Basically, only if you succeed it matters. Cuz if you succeed they regret making it free. To any aspiring artist out there, DO NOT feel obligated to go back and share your success, remember they only wanna be part of it if you succeed.
The only thing I don’t like is that the producers make some of the best stuff in 10 minutes but you work on writing a song for months or years and then you’re still expected to give half the money you make to them. I understand compensation but it’s like dang. Guess it’s just how trade works. Cause it’s like they make so many beats in 1 day, and then you take forever to write one song. A lot Nick Mira types out here. And that one beat you chose to make a banger song out with your lyrics and flows and such, they made super quick as their umpteenth beats they made that day
I honestly think tags should stay. I’m a rapper n if all I did was buy/lease a beat, then that beat should still have the signature of the creator. If you buy a fancy painting you don’t scratch off the artists monogram Edit: I also think producers tags shouldn’t be overwhelming in order to force you to pay to remove it. At that point, let them steal it n make your money off them afterwards. Why restrict them completely?
Yeah I wish it were that simple still. I get annoyed when someone labels their beat as free for profit but then the contract says you can't use it on Spotify.
yeah thats a good point. i agree producers should more often take film into consideration. one thing i would be careful about with using it for film though: some "free for profit" beats may be sold to someone exclusively at a later date. if this happens, the person who has now bought the license may flag your film for copyright if it includes the beat. personally, i dont sell exclusive beats to the same beats that people have used for free to try to avoid this, but it's certainly a possibility with other producers :) cheers, best of luck in your film endeavors
So basically, most of them are just scams, considering you can’t make profit off of 5k streams alone. If anyone here is a beat producer that ACTUALLY makes their beats free for profit for people who don’t know how to make beats, and aren’t stingey and greedy with it, I hope god blesses you genuinely. Because most of these beats aren’t actually FREE for profit.
its not a scam, its just a way for you to release your song for free, then have the producer still be rewarded if the song does blow up. most people dont even get 5k streams on the beats they use anyways so its better than paying $25 for a lease, then still not getting 5k??
Say they stop doing this, and only do free beats for nonprofitable purposes, and charge for EVERY profited beat. Would you want to pay for every beat just to have it on Spotify for a .01% chance that it blows up? Personally I'd rather have a "free for profit" beat, and if it blows up then we can work out the details of me purchasing or a split
@@ProdFluxoxo I can get my songs to 5k views right now with alt accounts and not make a single penny bro. It’s a scam. If it’s free for profit, there should be no stream limit, or anything like that. A free for profit beat should only have the limitation of crediting the beat producer in the song or video title, which would classify it truly as a *FREE* for profit beat, while others are basically “limited usage for profit,” or “free for nonprofit.” Free for profit beats have been that way back since approximately early 2014 / 2015 - mid 2020. People completely lost the definition of “free for profit,” and rather switched it to their own likings, which is why many rappers nowadays make their own beats, to avoid scams like this.
@@CourtesyoftheD That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying that there should he no lease for “free for profit” beats, and only the limitation of crediting the producer in the title of the song or music video with “prod by: (_),” or “produced by: (_).” That would qualify it truly as a *FREE* for profit beat. Because let’s say if a artist tried their absolute hardest on a song, and they have no money to buy a lease, and the song ends up reaching the 5k stream limit. That artist won’t even make a dime to be able to purchase the lease FOR the beat, and would basically be forced to delete the song from all platforms. That’s not free for profit. This is a scam to force you to buy a lease for all your songs, meaning that it isn’t free. Makes no sense at all. Back before 2020, this wouldn’t exist.
Typically my worry is license expiry. Though i just got a beat pack with an unlimited license has a 1000 year license length. I don't think it'll be an issue with that one in question
So I can use the free type beats in my UA-cam videos? I’m just not sure how it’s done. I got videos on my Instagram I want it bring to youtube but I need songs to add to it.
