Ya essentially what the couple other commenters where ias why I didn't put it on the top 5 here. I did just put strength on my "top 5 overlooked rune words" list a few days ago though. So I don't hate it. Just thought it didn't quite fit.
@@kristopherleslie8343 Well, i actually put that on Act2 Merc, If i find some Etherial 2 socked base early on ..... i put Amn+Tir. For the Lifesteel and 20 str :P It depends.... thats why all this runewords exist - i use what i found on the ground :P
Yeah Leaf is incredibly powerful, I farmed that runeword fairly early during act 1 with a sorceress in the original diablo 2, found a staff that had +1 firebolt and +3 warmth so I only ever used mana potions when I teleported large distances - I missed all the mana regeneration when I entered the final difficulty and switched to another staff because I then went on with frost.
I think that you should have at least mentioned Spirit in a crystal sword or broad sword, mostly because you can get amn rune at Hellforge and all other runes basically Act 4 and on. Yes, it is later in Normal, and has a level 25 requirement, but you shouldn't be going to nightmare before 26 anyway (and most wait until like 35-40) and so it's should be mentioned, given how amazing it is for casters.
@@blizbiggy Not really. Larzuk will give 4 OS to Crystal Swords found in Cows automatically, and after a certain point, all broad swords get 4 OS from him, and getting the gems to cube isn't hard, especially online.
I essentially agree with blizz. You literally have to finish normal before the earliest possible opportunity to make spirit sword. It's godly AF no doubt, but doesn't quite fit in here.
Have to agree with the other comments getting a 4 os sword before norm cows takes a very specific condition such as a unique zombie or undead mob in the tombs I believe, mrllamasc had the tutorial on it during the beta testing
Im pretty sure all long/broad/crystal swords dropped after frigid highlands will larzuk to 4os...if ancients pledge is here, spirit sword should be as well i think
Edge RW is super nice for any class that uses summons (moreso for skelemancers). 2 socket bows are easy to find, and Thorns + Amp Damage shreds even on NM.
Ancients’ Pledge is as good as 3 perfect diamonds. You can have 3 perfect diamonds in Act 2 after Horadric Cube. Any clvl 18 character can use that. If you really want you can even farm Countess for runes. You can do that with a sorceress with teleport, which makes her the best mule for runes your other chars find.
I still wish they would make Leaf cover all elements with it's comparable skills for each element. If it's a base with no skills, it rolls random. any fire skills would roll fire, any lightning skills would roll lightning, and any cold skills would roll cold. Lightning Leaf would be +3 Charged Bolt, +3 Static and +3 Telekinesis... Cold Leaf would be +3 Ice Bolt, +3 Ice Blast and +3 Frost Nova
100% would use the lightning one for an early light trapsin, and the cold for an odd early wind druid and actually use arctic blast XD And of course the respective class for the staff on sorc. But sadly I think fire leaf would become less used due to how crazy having +6 minimum to charged bolt would be
@@vSwaGGerMoDz you can still equip the staff, and I was saying if there was a lighting version of leaf. Similar to how a fire druid uses leaf for the +3 to fire skills, as it does work for his fire spells.
I’m a console player, after not playing console for three years since my son was born. I’ve been on D2R for a few weeks now. You have been my number one spot to watch new d2r content and tips and tricks! Thanks so much Phil for the wealth of knowledge and being so entertaining
I'm sorry but I refuse to leave act 1 before I hit level 20 (personally) I have found that this makes the game easier, since you are able to farm so much usefull stuff in act 1
Pre-video: here's my guesses on runewords that are about to be mentioned -> stealth, leaf, steel, rhyme, ancients pledge, lore. Lets see if I got some and I'll be back to comment lol.
Says Ancient Pledge can get at the beginning on normal + then says level 12 at end of act 5 = contradiction. That is not the beginning of normal. That's like the end of the game. The beginning of normal is act 1. Thumbs up though. This is helpful to figure out what to try to get for my Amazon since I just started.
Steel in a cutlass is by far one of the best cheap smiter weapons (cutlass, not scimitar). It's base weapon speed is very fast, -20 if I'm not mistaken. Very fast attack, open wounds... throw on some goblin toes and you got a great budget setup for a smiter.
@@kosterix123 okay? Why does that matter? You can find items and swap them over to other characters, hence putting a cutlass on a character still in normal.
Just one little nit pick: At 8:23 you show a 3 socket Archon Plate as an example of an upgrade base for Stealth, a 2 socket rune word. Other than that, another great video!
Leaf is also amazing for the inferno build. Which is very viable in NM. Maybe not hell though as I have not tried that yet. Getting +9 to Inferno early on (3 from inferno on base staff, 3 from all fire skills rune word, 3 from inferno on rune word) is really powerful. Bases can not have both inferno and all fire skills on them. This build destroys normal and a lot of NM. I did a self found 100% Players8 on run of normal, (all 5 acts on P8) and apart from Baal's waves (though not Baal himself) were just slaughtered easy as. The warmth synergy also helps this build a lot as you do not need to worry about mana too much with this build either. The 2.4 free cast of channeling spells also adds to the awesomeness of this build. Is it hell P8 viable? Probably not, but it absolutely absolutely wrecks normal and NM and is very fun to play with.
1:07 What?, at the end of act 5? I'm lvl 20 at Andariel, without grinding, the hell kind of game are people playing. At the end of act 5 i'm usually lvl 45 or so, again, without grinding. Then i grind Baal up to 55.
This is cool,I wish there were more players that played this online.I played since pre LOD online since like patch 1.03 and still have an LOD account active.Im always saving up bases and items to give to new players.Ill give away low shakos and things like that as well.Ive even given away Vex runes to new players just so they can sell for some ists and set up a player. Some people look down on this and I have been bashed for doing so on the Bnet forums cause other forum users and players say they "arent grinding for all there gear" and some players have a problem with me doing this. But when your new and you have nothing.being able to at least farm in hell without dying every 10 seconds is important lol
The best part of the game is finding the stuff yourself. I've been stuck in nightmare for weeks sometimes after a ladder reset grinding a couple hours a day but after I get to hell it's so much easier. In the past I've found lots of stuff and even give freebies to lower players (no idea if they're new or not) but I'm always destroying the grind and find part of the game for other players. Since D2R started I don't help or trade with anyone (except for rushing a players next character from time to time when I'm bored) because I would be robbing that player actual fun of the game. You think you're helping them but in reality you're doing the opposite and that could actually destroy the community as people get given so much too fast they get bored and leave. Do this enough times and thousands of people leave periodically and then no one is playing the game except the obsessed players and bots.
I am not sure if my definition of "right at the beginning of Normal" would be "in act 5" in a game with 5 acts. Then according to the "Open Wounds" as far as I am aware of, you can prevent monster heal already with poison damage. So if I put a chipped smaragd into a club, I get prevent mosnter heal already. Or I could just have one charm with poison damage. This does not work with smite though. I wonder why Amn Tir (Strength) is not in there. This is one of my absolute favorite melee rune words even in hell. It gives a huge boost to strength also good boost to vita, has life leech and crushing blow. In my opinion that makes the other melee weapon runewords on your list pale in comparison. An Amn rune is not so hard to get even in normal. It is still low enough to cube it up.
Leaf is amazing on a fire trap sin, stealth is op on everyone, I used lore helm on my ladder Amazon from like act 4 thru to hell. Lots of rune words are aimed at melee characters tho
D2r should make a rune guide in game.
