Just returned to D2 after a couple years off…love your content! Started a new grail and popped an SOJ off Duriel NM on the quest kill, got super lucky! He dropped it along with a couple TP scrolls lol

Walking to Hell Meph is the worst idea.
Nobody talks about hardcore characters in these situations. Playing hardcore is a marathon and you need to play super carefully, especially on single player. I will run normal and nightmare as much as I feel the need to before taking the next difficulty step.
Right? Actually i dont understand why streamers dont play hc more, like arent they supposed to be better at the game than average joe ? :D And this is why its hard to implement their advice on hc because on sc everybody goes full dmg the survivability is not a concern when the worst that can happen is to loose some exp...
@@borispsalmanhc is not cool, no one gives you free stuff, and you can die. When Llama tries to he often dies because hc is not a speed race but a long diligent run with constant equipment improvment... you pay with death also the smallest mistake. They can't play without teleporting. They can't play in a tankier way, without skipping content. It's their mindset.
@@JosephMagicFlower Llamsc has several playthroughs on hc mode on hell difficulty. Sounds like you are saying a streamer has to go online for hc mode and this is not the case. Hc mode is not that bad, there are some things you have to watch out for that are not a major issue. Paladin 51 on nightmare hc mode with difficulty scaling at 3 out of 8.
@strider7198 the fact that you couldn't predict a monster and it "stunlocks" you, means you're simply bad. There are countless ways to be 100% safe when doing all content in Diablo.

Yes to this, i play on the switch offline and currently doing nighmare andy to get better gear (in 7 players mode), but its sloow! Should i rush tru to get in andy hell to farm there?
@@dudubassmonster If nothing else move ahead to gain some levels. Return for farming if you get stuck or something. And many many times some amazing stuff drops while just questing through the game:) Do what's fun, the drops will show up sooner or later
Few days ago i have returned to D2 for hc experience, after watching D2r videos.
Atm 66 lvl Hc Sorc im experimenting with Normal Baal runs on players 8,with 100mf.
He gave me Raven Frost at 1st kill.
Couple runs later he amazed me more,dropping Titans Revenge.
wow. I found 3 soj already since d2r started :) all online, one on cows, one on cs, and one on ladder in travi few days ago. During travi runs in a matter of 2 days and few hundred runs i found ber, sur, few ists, mals, shakos, war travs 46 and in 15 minutes apart bul khatos and soj. That was sick.
Well that was a good drop. String of Ears, Telling of Beads, Tal-Rasha's Adjudication etc., all of that keepers.
I remember going back to Normal Andariel when my sorc was in Nightmare and one single run got me the boots I really wanted for my rookie characters, the Hotspur. That was great luck.
for melee classes i enjoy the Butchers Pupil which andy can drop - its a really nice weapon imo
I got my first soj this year. I’ve played off and on since the release… hell chaos sanctuary unique boss before seals released. Shock is an understatement.
Great video, and perfect timing. After taking countless characters through all three difficulties, and thousands of hours of D2/D2R, Single player, I’ve never seen an SOJ. Recently decided to target farm Andy on P8, and I’m about eight hours in with Non so far. I know I’m unlucky, but as far as I’m concerned, the ring, Uber Diablo, and the Ani charm all basically don’t exist on single player.
Did you find it in the end?
@@Waldek1983 no, made it to about 11 1/2 hours of farming, before getting bored, and running a few hard-core characters, and then moved to Darktide, instead :-)
As a hardcore player, nm is my go to farm before I even try hell. I have a 73 sorc and still farming all bosses in nm.
Short answer: Yes, if your killing gear is to low for hell mf-runs, you go andy nightmare, meph and diablo nightmare.
My first SoJ ever dropped from NM Andariel, about 3 weeks since D2R launch. It was a game-changer.
I found a tals ammy from NM Andy on my new single player sorc playthrough, second one I've ever found in thousands upon thousands of hours, when I was younger I guess I just didn't have the patience to really get into single player but it's so much more rewarding.
I went to single player pretty early because of all the problems the game had online at launch. The ladder interested me enough to go back and honestly i still want to go to single player
In the beta someone found one in act 2 normal tombs
I found 3 tal ammy in 3 days no kidding after 4 months of playing. 2 from nm council member and 1 from nm mephisto
Yea it's rare but possible I found tals ammy in normal cows in 1.09 being a nice guy lvling noobs It was worth 2 sojs back then n I needed it I was so pumped I lvled all them to 50 checked silospen on players 8 it was 1 in 1.3 million so I wouldn't count on it
Peasants Crown vs Tarnhelm comes down to do you want Life and Mana (with a some FRW and Rep Life thrown in) or do you want MF and or extra Gold. Both can be a form of "Poor Man's Shako". The funny thing being how overlooked Tarn is nowadays for Budget MF Characters.
I love Tarns! Use them all the time on Trapsin and casters when mfinding

Farming Andy to prepare for hell is allmost a must. In the first 24 hour after this Ladder launched Andy gave me 2 viper, 2 shako, tal amu, Soj and a bunch of other stuff.
Hell yeah. It's almost a ritual for me to spend a day or two farming nightmare andy before I tackle hell, and then I am really prepared.

My paliden is level 78 and my very first uniqie ring drop was actually a raven frost from terrorized NM Andy which was an AWESOME surprise seen as how i retired the Rhyme shield for Spirit and i respeced after finding a good base finally

I must be lucky when it comes to SOJ's. I found probably 10 of them back in the duping days. Got D2R about a month ago and i've already found 2, one from meph and one from pindle.
One evening I said "ok, tonight I get my SoJ" (I wanted my first single player Annihilus really bad). Respec my sorc to lightning, went running Andy, drew a line on a piece of paper for each run. Each ten run approximately, I get a unique ring. The fourth one was an SoJ. I was happy. Thought I found the goose that lays golden eggs. Since then I did like a hundred runs and never got another one.
I found an SOJ off Nightmare Andy this first season of D2R, and also other good upgrades to help me get into hell. I think I spent maybe a week farming NM Andy and Meph before I went into Hell with my sorceress, and I feel it was worth it.
It is, especially on Harcore.
Sometimes is useful - ended up getting 3 soj's from her when d2r first came back, was on hardcore ladder.
You should run Nightmare Andariel. Chance Guards, Goldwrap, Rattlecage are some of uniques I got from farming NM Andy.
You can get Skin of the Flayed One from her, and Hotspurs. Skin of the Flayed One is BoS for a Prayer Merc. I will never forget back when we could have Manald and Nagel in-game and the next unique to drop would ALWAYS be an SoJ. Infernostride and Hotspurs can make you immune to or even heal from from fire damage when paired with a Dwarfstar.

thanks for your comments ive played D2LoD 5 years 15 hours a day and i found 3 soj and in D2R i found one playinh 5 months 12 hours a day. Never seen Diablo Clone. but i have found some crazy runedrops in D2R(20 jah/lo/bers in 1 week) but never ever found a highrune in D2LoD.
I'm annoyed by the fact that, apparently, non-endgame items aren't worth finding... I've done running of Normal Andy, Meph, and Baal (not in the thousands by any means) in order to source good items for buffing lower level characters. There's a reason the lower level uniques and sets exist. For example, The Centurion is absolutely ace for low level melee characters or for your Act II merc for a few acts in Normal. Most D2 videos basically ignore the idea of having actual fun or caring about your character in Normal. I'm doing my first playthrough in a long time (single player), and I'm finishing up Normal at level 36. To me, its not about speedrunning to the end, but enjoying the whole game.
Playing HC ladder ATM. So I'm running NM Andy until I get a soj lol.
Also, wasn't hunting for it, but found an ok shaftstop for the Merc.

I've gotta say I don't usually watch your stuff (sorry!) but those "no!" cutaways were top notch, quality edits. I hadn't seen that in any of your other videos I've actually seen ... again pretty small amount, but after this one that may have to change 😂
Ya that type of editing and filming takes for ever. That 15 second segment all in all probably took over an hour to make.
I started my first ever ladder character, a blizzard sorc. Farming nm andariel, mephisto and baal I got chance guards, vipermagi, 2 Nagelrings and very unexpectedly, a Shako off of Baal. Hell is gonna be brutal...
700 hours into my grail I gave up, farmed nightmare andariel allllll day long and when I finally identified 12 rings one was my soj, 1200 hours in.. still no second soj.

Yea 100% agree. Online maybe with maxed out Item Find barb with Enigma but otherwise it is not worth it.
In one year of playing D2R I found a single SoJ... from Hell Diablo (solo online).
You can't use item find skill on act bosses
1 Question about "Crushing blow - good for any melee character":
Can the assassin's elemental charge effects (like the nova) cause a crushing blow? Since those effects are her main source of damage, a crushing blow on the finisher's single-target hit wouldn't really be worth it, would it?
I think you can simply follow this rule. If you can leech hp or mana from that sort of dmg, you can do crushing blow with it.
man, I used to bot NM Andy and wake up to find like 2-4 SoJs from a night of running at 600 MF. this was by far the best way to get SoJs.
I'm over 5k Andariel runs (375mf) but I've never found soj... gz!

Got my only SOJ out of a crate in the Crystal Passage on NM.. online single player. Lvl 75 Cold/ wind druid with 290mf. Totally blew my mind!!!!!
I started fresh on ps5 last week and found Tal Rashas amulet on my first Andariel run on nightmare ^^
Well, I did find Tal's ammy from her yesterday. Hunting SOJ with NM andy-mepth with other items I'd like to get like a HOZ
The reason I farm NM Andy is Skin of the Vipermagi. I have a few SoJs lying around in fact found almost everything, but in 5000+ hours of playing Diablo 2 I have to this day never found a freakin Vipermagi, goddamnit.
I once found 2 SOJ back to back withing minutes doing Hell Mephisto. Never had one on normal/nightmare. I assume SOJ on normal only drops from Baal and Nih?
I droped my 2 soj on same 7h session of andy NM single player 600MF so worked well for me 😁
No bullshit… I decided to take a break from farming Hell cows for HR’s and do this… 3 minutes in on my SECOND run I found an SOJ. I have weird luck though. I found a Jah and +42 All Res Vortex Shield on the same mob before as well. Still only found the one Jah to this day but at least I got SOJ!!

Phil, idek if you'll reply but... I'm running HC Ladder, players 1, I can kill nm Andy meph diablo and baal (baal adds alot of gametime for 1 drop) or 1 hell andy over and over...

literally watched this video yesterday and questioned my grind for viper and SOJ at andy nm - lvl 75 SP sorc. thought about what you said and left after finding 35 chance guards to go grind HELL MEPHI with now 270 mf - not 10 runs in the game i dropped myself my first SHAKO on D2R SP. THANKS BUD :)
Later i found 3 blue Serpentskin Armors and 3!!! blue Arachnid Meshs - we need to talk about this! :D

Just hit soj from hell mephisto and I wasn’t even really thinking there was a chance for it on single player… really lucky early on one lol
But when I used to play a decade ago I grinded hell Andy quite a bit and for sure have found a handful of em. I even remember grinding 3 from maybe a 1000 nightmare Andy runs back in the day too.. but bad luck spell sent me to hell Andy lol.
My reaction was similar though. I had one raven drop prior but then i was hoping BK and it was too lit.

Nightmare Andariel is cool. I am doing the nightmare dif with my necro and I did a few runs (not a lot of them since I want to unlock hell). Got some nice mid level gear for my necro. I am now rocking a superior head thing with +3 to poison nova and Rhyme runeword. My wand is still magic but it has +3 to Poison Nova as well. I want to find a socketed wand with at least +2 Necro skills or +3 poison nova so that I can use runeword white on it. Or a socketed unique and I can instal a poison facet gem and make a budget DWeb. Have about 105% MF. It is enough for now. I could increase it but it would be at the expense of other things. Stealth runeword armour. I want to build a Bone armour but missing the Um runes.
I have some MF gloves, nothing spectacular really. Just 28% MF. Using a set belt and boots. Want better ones but so far no luck finding them they are the weakest part of my gear and I am not happy with them. I have a +1 amulet and a couple of rare rings with mf and some other stuff. Really no good rings so far but they are good enough.
Personally I would do nightmare chaos runs for the added power leveling.
Especially with a good mob clearing character (FOH pally/Javazons/Cold Sorc, etc)
I'm under 600 run in hell (splitted in 3 days), solo, online, 2 soj so far and lot of unique that I could keep and junk I gave for free to new player. In otherword, it ain't that bad to run tbh. I tried the NM run, never drop something good, nor an soj in 300 runs or so.
Here's stuff I got from doing that (197%MF) :
5 nagel ring : 30%, 28%,28%,25%,19%
2 Dwarf Star
2 ravenfrost
2 shako
1 gheed
2 SOJ
1 sandstorm trek

Made a sorc only for a soj farming. Online ladder. Got one on my 5th run.

Do the odds of her dropping rings change whether it's a Quest Andy kill vs a non-Quest?

I just did 650 runs and found myself 3 SoJ's actually. (run number 671 152 and 650) sold one and got my self a 19/16/6 Anni. did these runs with 565mf and on Players7
I never got a SOJ but i was told you need to have nagelring and manald heal in the inv before you can have a chance for drop. Otherwise its gonna drop them first. Is this true?
No that's not how it works. You can only find 1 of a unique item in a game. So if you find nagel and Manald in that game than you know the next unique ring you find won't be either one of those. Simply carrying them though won't effect anything.
It _used_ to be that way by gambling in D2 1.01 or 1.02 before it got patched.
I found a soj on andarielle and mephisto in the same run. It was during a baalrun

Sell SOJ to spawn Diablo Clone in Hell difficulty. Kill that and get an Annihilus unique charm.
Tbf on single player a 25%+ Nagel is still great If you've just arrived in nightmare with any fire based run.
(Fireball, Meteor, Fissure, Explosive Arrow, Hydra, Corpse Explosion etc.)
I’m doing offline single player self found, running hell andy specifically for skullders ire, hoping I’ll find an soj on the way...800 runs in and nothing crazy dropped :( Well a gul, um, pul, 30 war travs, 7mf sm, 2x20 life scs, 3x11 res scs, hoz, and 1 eth insight base, but that’s about it. Maybe I’ll go nightmare Andy for just faster runs, and soj into to anni will help my mf barb more than a skullders anyways
First and only SOJ I found was dropped by normal Baal on LOD in 20 years of playing this game, what`s worse Arachnid Mesh haven`t dropped even once during this timespan
