Are the lantern and blue “fruit” actually that similar in appearance? I know that the lanterns are actually just glowing paste smeared inside a pupa shell, but I didn’t know they actually looked so similar.
Generally doing a guardian skip is quickest (there are several methods, such as throwing flashfruits as you pass by the guardians to blind them) but it's not always a guarenteed win and could end up taking more time if you mess up. Saving in a place like outskirts or industrial and then running to five pebbles, getting the mark, and exiting without saving again will put you back to the outskirts shelter and allow you to quickly go to depths and ascend.
There’s a trick to bypass the guardians of the last zone (pretty sure there’s a UA-cam video of it somewhere), but I really recommend taking your time with this game since that’s where its charm comes from. If you’re still wanting to finish it quick though you can take this route to go through all the points in the main storyline A.S.A.P, but of course these are spoilers for the areas: Outskirts >> Industrial Complex >>> Garbage Wastes >>> The Coast >> Looks to the Moon >>> Shaded Citadel >>> Mem(e)ory crypts >>> The Leg >>> Underhang >>> 5 pebbles >>> The Wall >>> Chimney Canopy >>> Sky Islands >>> Farm Arrays >>> The Subterranean >>> The depths If you don’t care about the story at all though, there’s the trick to pass the guardians with an explosive spear (UA-cam video somewhere) which shortens the route to: Outskirts >>> Farm Arrays >>> Subterranean >>> The depths But like I said, the story is amazing and the game is not the same experience without it, so I’d heavily recommend not rushing through the game as I’m sure many others would recommend too. (If I may ask, I’d like to know why you want to beat the game so fast)
Actually if you go to the wall from chimney canopy(the tall spot with access to both the wall and the sky islands) you can climb it, (very hard to do, I find, but easier than having to go around) and at the top there is two tunnels, go in the right one, the other has an echo but it’s best to wait until you get the mark. The right tunnel is hard to reach but a spearflip to make a pole and another to grab on will be all you need. Then it’s a straight shot to FP, and you can even go back into the regular entrance and explore the exterior. The wall also has an entrance to the... I think it’s the subterranean or something like that

I'm pretty sure blue fruit *are* the pupa shell used for the lanterns, since they're never really seen growing or flowering.
