Had to see status, and all really looks wonderful (as expected). Really love how clean you keep it with the chickens. Good luck with it all🙌🤞☺️

Well Thank you! I'm a little OCD about keeping it and the hen house both tidy. Thanks for watching 😊

Great video, thanks. One question, does the straw habit mites?

Thanks so much and no, not that I have noticed. The DE I sprinkle in the run kills the mites and lice if present.

I too have my coop/run faced to be sterilized with the UV.
I always had issues with bumble-foot so my bedding is thick enough to be a cushion & none of my perches are over 19 inches high. I am going be using IG Regulators, specifically Tekko, to greatly eliminate the thatch-bugs that can live in the bedding.
For coop location in our modern times they should probably obtain a copy of their OSSF site plan & the comprehensive drainage plan for that OSSF. In my State the OSSFs require 7-8k sqft so if you have only a 1/2 acre then you don't have a yard for hens due to the septic disposal field requirements. Any OSSF on land with less than 2% slope is required to have surface controls for stormwater b/c oxygen in the soil is apart of the OSSF treatment process. It's a simple email to your health department to obtain the OSSF/topo/drainage-plan b/c it is an environmental ruleset. The biannual-Lidar is still $200 per year to see for my city but the free topo computer generated elevation lines are fair enough for most DIY drainage plans.

Im just planning my coop but shouldnt that hardware cloth be on the outside? Seems more pest proof that way

Hello. Either way is fine as long as it is secured well. My coop and run are painted white so my wire is on the inside. From the outside you won't see the wire over the 2x4s for esthetic and creates a clean look. The wire is securely attached to the boards on the inside. No predators will get in.
Good luck with your coop and thanks for watching 😊
