CHP Santa Fe Springs units responded to a traffic collision on the Eastbound 60 Freeway at Fairway Dr. in Rowland Heights. While performing a slow break to fully stop traffic, a truck almost collides with the cruiser.
Units due: Engine 145, Engine 119, Squad 119, CARE Ambulance, CHP

I think, DMV needs to start adding the CHP traffic break in the Written test because some drivers just doesn’t know what’s happening.
Lol, more than half the fucking drivers are from some other Country and probably think they are ice cream trucks!🤣
this happened in every states
Excellent idea. It can cause a lot of confusion when you don't know what the cop wants you to do.
@@phcusnret use some fucking common sense.
Cop sitting sideways very clearly blocking as much of the road as possible.
"Oh this just means to go around right???"
Fuck off. You're the same type of person who thinks the Mexico truck driver in Colorado blew past giant blinking yellow signs and an obvious runaway truck ramp deciding to instead plow into stopped traffic killing people - because he couldn't read English.
Just fuck right off.
I was just thinking something very similar to that, and no where near as nice
Man he swung that explorer to stop the truck that was some nice driving right there
Damn he’s got some skills and situational awareness
Like herding sheep..... Vehicle like a sheep dog at work.... Right colour too🤣
@@almilhouse9059 ikr lol. Also 140 likes, wasn't expecting that. Thanks😂😀
What are you talking?
It definitely was a nice move 🙌
Nevermind traffic breaks, it could be a full-blown roadblock and people will still try to drive past even after they just witnessed the other drivers get turned around.
I was out at a major traffic collision several years ago (as an off-duty firefighter) - CHP put up cones and flares to divert traffic to a crossroad, and a CHP car was posted at that intersection. A car STILL drive right between the cones and across the flares, and up to the scene where the road was completely jammed with emergency vehicles. Once he saw he couldn't squeeze through, he pulled a U-turn, right as the air ambulance helicopter was on final approach to land on the roadway right where he turned around.
I hope that idiot got a massive fine and points on his license for that stunt.
Some people are really dense between the ears, they're just stupid.
The truck drivers life flashed before his eyes
More like the police officer's considering he may not have known if the truck was gonna stop in time or at all. Why the truck would do that in the first place I don't know.
@@CJDiecast but the truck was already stopped because the CHP officer came from the right shoulder and had moved across the lanes to try to stop all traffic and the truck continue to try to move behind the officer vehicle
You kiddin? The trooper is the one getting himself killed. Loaded Peterbilt, figure fourteen tons, vs a two ton Ford. Truck would hardly notice.
@@jaysmith1408 it was already stopped and continued to try to sneak past
@@jaysmith1408 You're not going to get killed if half your car gets bumped at 15 mph
I dont think I've ever seen a CHP Officer whip that car around that fast, good driving
CHP has one of the best EVOC programs anywhere and they spend a lot of time with EVOC in the academy.
That swing was one of the meanest I've ever seen.
When I began to hear the air horn at 4:17 I immediately began looking for Metro State to pop out and start directing traffic…LOL
LOLOLOLOL!
damn i miss him lol
Yeah, because Jeremy NEVER used a siren…
LOLLLLL
LMAOO
Well I live in Pennsylvania and I can tell you thankfully we don’t have the traffic headaches anywhere near what California does. One thing I can say after watching a lot of these videos is don’t mess with the CHP they know what they’re doing. Good catch!!
Sometimes in Philly we get pretty backed up. Usually not too much police intervention though.
@@vipshoot1780 Oh the good ol’ Schuylkill expressway hate that road. 😂😂 yeah PSP really doesn’t do traffic breaks like CHP does or Nevada DPS (state police)
California is a shithole. There isnt a single highway at any time of day or day of the week you "WONT" find a traffic jam. It seems the average freeway speed is 35mph and the fucking speed limit is 70mph. Give it another 5 to 8 years and these freeways will be at an all day stand still, the State is i a decade behind when it comes to freeways ability to freely move the capicity, and its gonna get worse.🤣👍
CHP is corrupt af lmao xD
California fukin' sucks. I speak from experience.
1:19 "YOU SHALL NOT...PASS!!!!!"
Love how aggressive the CHP is with the vehicle during traffic breaks - “Sir in the truck! Emergency stop NOW!!”
great catch ! scary how close that was
Indeed scary close
Amharic to believe people can collide on a straight away between Fullerton Road and Fairview.
Exactly what they promised to do as an officer: to swerve and protect
Man this CHP Officer has balls of steel 💙
@Kaiden the state trooper yes but either way it still takes a lot of balls to throw yourself in front of a huge truck like that, trained or not
Awesome catch! I hope everyone involved in the crash is okay, keep up the good work!
Longer vid today! Hope you guys enjoy :)
CDL holder should know better than that.
Can't say it any more cleary, F*cking love this video! The cops are professional and it's just all round a great video!
Awesome catching love the traffic break from chp outstanding 🤩
That is such a cool thing to do. And bravo to the genius who came up with the idea!
Like a herding dog corraling the sheep! Idk why, but the little beeps he made coming up to the break were cute to me.
I just love the LAFD because the still use rotary light bar's
Rotary lightbars are uber-geigh.
That’s actually LA County FD not LAFD
@@mywy1std33 dude you get what I'm saying we don't need to get all fancy
I 😍 rotary light bars
If you're one of those people who goes down a shoulder during traffic.... Don't.
Another example of why hard shoulders are needed. (The breakdown lane I think you call it). EMS need to get to incident scenes and having obstructions such as traffic, road furniture and raised cycle lanes and dividers all get in the way.
In the UK LED message boards (if fitted) are often used in the place of arm signals or together , with a 'do not pass' text. And now after a scene you will get a 'thank you' ! Nice catch with this clip 👍
Really nice catch.
Never fails there is always that one
I was a fsp operator alot of times i was first on scene did the TIMS class it was helpful to know how to deal with vehicle placement and cone patterns
Excellent job CHP👍👍
Probably should keep the emergency light on.
I’ve never seen one where they take 90° turns before
Who else noticed the firefighter video taping the response as well? Haha love it
Nothing sounds as nice as Federal Q on that fire truck.
Nice catch!
thanks!
@@jeremyapps no problem, Stay safe out there.
Protect and Swerve
A little surprised the CHP SUV turned off it's lights while doing the round robin, but maybe someone knows why? In any case, the traffic out here is just a complete cluster F.
Probably meant to throw it on his rear facing setting (usually involves putting light switch to the center secondary setting) and probably didn't realise he turned them off.
He likely hit the reset button to shut the siren off and shut the whole system down instead
CHP swangin wide out here in CALIFORNIA!!
Aye that was Dave Roberts whose hand was sticking out from the window, he was filming a video, just posted it on his Instagram
Super catching😀
Clearly many of these people have never been waiting for emergency services to respond to help them. Personally I would be Identifying all those people that tried to push through and canceling their licences.
Would love to, trust me, but the priority is scene safety and the people involved in the crash. If the officer tries contacting the drivers behind him, he leaves the involved vulnerable.
@@joeblow8197 I was thinking more along the lines of looking at the video (Bodycam/carcam) and paying them a visit after the event. As always it's priorities and time.
Nice video
Damn that was a nice block to the truck
How you can listen to the radio?
gotta love the firefighter hanging his phone out the window
@ 3:12 wonder what agency has that White Chevy SUV? "Fire" on the rear with Exempt Plates.
Cal fire
That's truck driver has rocks between his ears
That was impressive
Thats gonna creat a hell of a phsntom stop sign
Wow he stop the truck that quick 😳
Learn something new everyday.
That deputy was playing CHP 🤣
Walnut/Diamond Bar/Rowland Heights area? Looks like the 60 East near 57
Eastbound 60 near Fairway
Why did he turn his flashing lights off when doing the break and leave them off when he parked his unit?
The everyday goings on in the city that fascinate people but never get reported on the news.
They need a giant screen that goes up around the wreck so people can’t rubberneck.
That’s the real traffic constrictor.
1:17 I’d be so annoyed, my thoughts would be “I’m not sitting blocking traffic no reason what are you doing”
That truck drive should have all his licenses and certifications revoked.
@@0g.Ghost.7373 chill buddy you’re over reacting
@@premium3141 Nah you all have just gone soft on criminal scum.
@jesse arias nah kid. They know the laws.
@@0g.Ghost.7373 do you know how rare a police stop like this is? You are not required to know this when you get your cdls so for you to assume he knows every law just because he’s a trucker is not too smart.
Very interesting
Lol it’s FF Roberts!!! Not on the squad!
I forgot to check his story to see if he posted that video loll
The California shuffle. Looked the 210 to me.
Nice!
3:18 what youtube channel wil that fireman have ?
Dave Roberts on IG
3:08 LA157M3 and 4 responding!
Why do they cut their overheads off???
I’ve been on the 55 and Chp does these or absolutely zero reason some times. Middle of the day no traffic they do it.
They’ll sometimes do it to allow CalTrans (or another officer) to safely move a foreign object (like unsecured cargo, luggage, vehicle parts etc) off the roadway. So by the time you get there, said object is gone, hence why it seems like it was done for no reason. I’ve heard of them doing it for funeral processions too, but I’ve personally never seen it
It’s never for no reason. You just might not know the reason. There’s several.
They do this sometimes to help with the traffic flow as well I've seen them do it to where they allow the traffic in the front to go and get much more further up the road then once that happens they stop doing it and then let traffic go
Everyone one of them turds following the firetruck should spend a night in jail.
I saw this one time
I’m pretty sure the ambulance crew just rolled up on this crash-that they weren’t dispatched to it.
With 20+ years in EMS, there’s nothing I hate more than being first on scene on an open highway. At least this was in the daytime.
Herding them vehicles like a colly sheep dog at work... Very fitting as the cop cars the same colour 🤣🤣
God damn that chip's gun holster is super low
We in the traffic control business call this cozeep!!!
Their cars need more lighting
There was a time where filming this would leave you with a busted head, a night in jail, and several charges to ruin your life.
“CHiPs”
You gotta love fire and their excessive use of horns and sirens. It’s like their signature thing.
Полиция США красавцы как всегда профессионалы 👍🔥
That was the most sloppy traffic break ever. First one I was in I realized what was happening immediately. Sow drivers are idiots for seeing a cop doing a break and trying to move forward anyways.
Ngl this happened to me few years ago in fl and I flew right past him like a dumbass the maneuver just looks so odd I didnt catch on
It helps when they have a loud speaker to say "do not pass". They do that when there's junk in the middle of the highway. sometimes to allow construction crews to get on the highway as well.
Basic CHP traffic control very well performed given the circumstances…..nothing close to a “near miss/near traffic collision” seen from my end…
ok as an aussie what was the cop doing ? waas he trying to stop traffic to get them to merge to one lane?
most people call it a traffic break here in California. Basically, traffic slows to a halt until whatever up ahead is cleared, etc. Had this happen quite a few times to me. Most recently in San Francisco where there was large debris on the freeway and they did a traffic break until it was cleared off
@@freshbenz ok . thanks mate
wow, do people not understand what lights and sirens mean. make a pathway for that Emergency vechile.
3:59 DAM, that tesla :(
a dog with its herds
I believe any state police/highway patrol should send at least two units during traffic break. Too many idiots drive past nowadays
Ok now we just need whambam Tesla cam to get the footage of what happened
Send me the link when you see it
Why am I noticing the explorer’s wigwags are a bit slow
@jesse arias When the 2016 FPIU First came out it was fast
@@CallMeAhSirHKP just because they came out fast doesn't mean a department can't modify them to be slow....
@@Project153 I'm just noticing
CHP light patterns are pretty slow across the whole lightrig, at least comparitive to other departments in Cali. There's some laws written that restrict what and how emergency vehicles can have flashers. Like for example, it's state law that all emergency vehicles shall have 1 steady burning red light facing forward on the car when the flashers are turned on. It wouldn't surprise me if the strobes in the headlights are required to be slow for a similar law.
@@KomradeDoge I know about the red light but i think the wig wags are programmed differently
I would never move to California.
Then don’t lmao
Yes you would. And you will.
@@lateral1385 Lived there 15 years. I will never move back.
@@karatlack4464 No. I hereby command you to move back to California within two months. You’re going back there, and you’re going to like it. Enjoy the drought, and claustrophobic traffic. It’s all yours for the taking. That’s a direct order. Don’t even try to question it, OK? I expect a full report on your progress toward moving every week.
Lol firefighter vlogging or what
Ye check out his IG. His name is Dave Roberts
This just creates more traffic this makes no damn sense. Unless they are blocking due to an accident up ahead.
What is the goal of traffic Breaks?
To slow drivers down so they wont get in the way of incidents
@@CallMeAhSirHKP Yeah, but after they have slowed down they will speed up again?
@@Mike25654 once they get past that incident they're allowed to go back to normal freeway speed but sometimes they also do this to shut down the freeway in case of debris or the accident requires a full shut down

He could have used his hands. He could have used the PA to tell the drivers to stay put. He could have left his lights on.

2. Firefighter filming their response out the window on a phone
