    I had a two feet Snowflake eel. He never bothered anything in the tank. I had shrimp, smaller fish, a grouper. He was good. I was in the USAF and had to move. I made a deal with the LFS to take my fish. I packaged everything in a styrofoam container (box) for the 30 minute ride to the store. By time I got there the eel ate the shrimp and two other fish. I always liked having him and consider buying a new one.

    Cool as hell video reminded me of when I was a kid i has a snowflake with a lion and trigger, now this is the mid 90s so there wasn't much other than a glass lid to choose from which I thought was good until he squeezed out of the 1/4" hole I cut for the wavemaker cord one night I looked and looked for him the next morning tore the house up couldn't find him for nothing. Then 2 days later so.ething told me to look down the central air vent so I take the cover off with a flashlight reach my whe arm in the vent as soon as I peel him off the metal all upset it swings around and bites me I sling him in the tank and there he is breathing all hard couldn't believe it. He lived for 2 more years happy till I gave h to a friend and broke the tank down. Sorry but I had to share

      Oh wow I went to this tropical store and I got and eel for 19 dollars I wanted to put an octopus in it to but they said I can not put anything else look in my channel my second video I have a video of my pet eel

      @@abelfalconoterto1692 Octopus’ aren’t good for keeping as pets. A good amount of them are highly venomous and they’re extremely smart (if their lifespan allowed they’d possibly end up being smarter than humans) so they get bored and depressed quite easily and quickly in a tank.

    subbed! i love when you said,personality.. sooooo true.....always hard to say if reefsafe or not because of that.. and by the way.. BE CAREFUL OF YOUR PALYTHOAS at 3:50... i almost died two time last year.. this is the number 1 danger of your tank.. for you.. and your familly.. but as long as you dont put them under hot shower to brush them away like i did(without the knowledge of what i was doing lol) you will be allright.. if you get sick and want to get rid of them.. just remember this : after i almost died the first time,I decided to get rid of it obviously.. so i did some research..i did put a full gas mask,,with the good cartridge, gloves,glasses,i was outside scraping my rock.. and then.. 4 hours of convulsing on the ground of the bath.. then i spewed for so long...morals: throw it in trash and buy new ones..

      Its an Nikon Coolpix aw130. When i do my underwater stuff i leave the lights on regular setting that kinda plays with the color. But when i do video outside i lower the lights and adjust everything. Im still figuring the camera out, it has about a million different things. Either way i love ability to go inside the tank with it.

    I have a question about my eel. I picked him up 4 days ago. I got him home, acclimated him, and put him in the tank. He instantly went to a rather large live rock that a spiny lobster had made a home underneath in the sand. Eel took it over and has been sifting through the sand making a couple little tunnels underneath that rock. Is this normal behavior? I had just aquascaped my tank in preparation for this eel, making some caves and nice spots for him to be in the rocks. Also, since I have got him, he hasn't eaten once. Not one time. I've tried thawed blood worms and thawed krill. I'll put it right in front of him and he'll just turn his head away. Now, since last night, I haven't seen him. I tried holding some food in front of one of his tunnels to entice him to come out; nothing. He never showed up. Ideas?

    • @FishOfHex
      @FishOfHex  7 років тому +2

      The eel should of been quarantined so you can make sure it doesnt introduce anything into the tank and so you can see it eat. The stress of shipping can make fish/eels not eat for several days and when an eel eats bloodworms are not part of its diet, they need to have bigger foods like shrimp, squid, octopus stuff like that. As for the digging that is normal but understand if you didnt put the rock on the bottom glass the eel will dig under the rock and could cause it to fall over. The best thing you can do now is offer up a better food.

    • @MrWootastic
      @MrWootastic 7 років тому

      Ok. So when aquascaping, place rocks past the sand and straight onto the bottom of the tank? I'm a newer reefer so I'm learning as I go. The rock hasn't shifted at all, but it is a large rock. Probably approx 25 lbs. My local stores do not have squid or octopus. Should I try just straight shrimp? Frozen from the grocery section? Thanks for the help!

      I have a 18in yellowhead and he is the same way. I've never seen him ever try to escape and he only comes out when he wants to eat. As a matter of fact I fed mine about 4 days ago and tonight he decided to eat 5 silver side fish and a few chunks of meaty food so the next time I see him I'll do it again
