- The 2022 LEGO Star Wars Death Star Trench Run set is a dream come true for many. Recreating one of the most iconic scenes in all of Star Wars as Darth Vader + TIE Fighters chase down Luke + R2-D2 in the X-Wing while Luke attempts to destroy The Death Star! $60 seems a bit high though and while I would recommend waiting for a sale... this set is as good as they come.

This looks great, although I wish there was a bigger version of this, imagine if someone bought a ton of these sets and made a cinematic of the DS-1 Trench Run from Episode IV.
That's definitely a new video idea
The Emperor is pleased with this!
I was literally just thinking that while watching the video
@@repticare101 how so?
3 would look great
Like the Dark Trooper Attack, I'd love to see Ryan create a moc using 2 or 3 sets, I think this set would get exponentially cooler once it was bigger. But appreciate that means buying more into an already expensive set.
Or just buy extra parts from bricklink
if he left instructions it would also be nice for the moc
You’re in luck
I would of made it a different area of the Death Star and make some ships crash
It looks good but im sad that they did not add the most iconic vehicle from that scene. I think the republic gunship's lime green would contrast well with the grey
What the hell are you talking about
Wat are you smoking? Crack?
Can't believe people don't understand this joke LOL
@@red7391Oh , what is the joke ?
@@professionalgamer6522 that they didn’t include a republic gunship
I love how r2 managed to get into all these dioramas😂
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Did R2 get into the trash compactor?
@@deenagoulty2539 yes 😂
It looks like such an incredible set, the $60 dollar price point just feels like such a hard pill to swallow for a teen fan of Lego such as I lol
Bro exactly, I love lego I recently got into it again after years and now seeing that they been bringing up their price a lil too much is just wild. Lmao.
Not to me.
tbh this is a skip for me not because of the price but just cuz this type of set doesn’t appeal to me
Hey man or you could just do what I dont and not Check my bank account
Before I invest in legos like this
This is an adult's lego set, why do u think they are all so expensive? lmfao
Looks a lot better "in person", I love the depth of the build and all of the detail. Great review!
just scored this off ebay for $55, under retail for a retired set, I'll take it as a W. Came here first to watch your review. I've never commented on your channel and have been watching your videos for a few months now, figured I'd contribute and show some appreciation. I've always enjoyed your videos, humor, honesty and insight.
On a sidenote with the 18+ sets I really enjoy the manuals and what was put into the sets. I do read every one of them in depth lol. Sometimes I learn something and sometimes I'm reminded of some small detail that I took for granted. And like your videos I do enjoy hearing about the designers thought process and their insight as well.
This set is a really good example as to why price-per-piece doesn't matter. The piece count is really fair, but it's a lot of small pieces for the Trench details
That’s not worth $60 lmfao
One word: OVERPRICED
I'm not really gonna get this due to the way it's done, but I wouldn't be surprised if people buy multiple of this to make an elongated trench for mocs
Only legends wait for mandr review
I just watched your Lego Star Wars episode! Your the best commentator ever 😂
When are we getting a "six sets combined" video for this set?
I like you new logo for your UA-cam channel. Also nice video keep up the good work!
That rack image is hilarious.
Objectively, price to weight is a consistent measure of intrinsic value and with this set it's relatively decent on paper. But I think any display piece is never about its weight, especially when the material we're talking about here is plastic, albeit fairly good quality plastic. If anything, the volume is more important, or rather the visual volume which contributes to its presentation is more important, which this set is lacking for its price due to its overall size. Definitely a nice set to look at, simply overpriced though.
I love the detail on this set, I just wish it was $10-$15 dollars cheaper seeing that it doesn't come with any minifigs
It’s on sale now ! Those $10 cheaper u asked for lol
@@gionino5302 Thanks for letting me know :)
i would’ve loved an arm-printed pilot. i feel that would’ve been a nice fig to include and appropriate.
I like this item for the artistic quality. I consider it as a piece of art, having no idea about the background of this… It simply looks f*cking cool and crazy!
Damn i love the details on this
Would have loved to see that the x-wings and fighters where on some kind of swing ax so they could go from left to right. Missed oportunity ...
29 and I bought it. I like the display aspect of it. Gives the bookshelf a bit of flavor
This is probably my favorite of the dioramas, but man if it was just 50 it’d be a 10/10
I’m really interested in merging this set with the mechanics of jkbrickwork’s moving trench run. I like the look of this but Jk’s is a kinetic set
Is the the first ever Death Star trench run build from LEGO? I’m partial to a good trench scene, nice review. Yeah def a ‘sit in the bookshelf’ set for zoom backgrounds. It’s need to go ahead and change my shelving in my office to that fancy wire shelving….🤣
Love your videos. I watch them every time they come out
This is fantastic
Spot on. 53 and looking forward to it!
I bought this yesterday to build for May 4, and yup, definitely eating Ramen for a month.
Mandr: “I’ve read plenty in school and I’m done reading”
Me: “I feel that”
The price is a little high, but there are a lot of cool part usages that you don't see too often.
8:48 That's a UIUC dorm room. I'd recognize that anywhere. ISR I think
love this og set
It’s a display set. The one tie fighter attached to the wall I crazy glued. Yes, it did keep falling off every few weeks or so, so I glued it. LOL. It’s never fallen since. Now of course not everyone will do that, but it worked for me. It sits on a shelf gathering dust. It’s not a play set.
Hey Mandr! When can we expect pictures of the At -Te?
'Not much into reading' lmao
Finally it’s here and not as expensive as I thought.
Those tie fighter windows seem to be the same price they used for the tie fighters in moff gideons ship last year
Are you able to share pics of the inventory pages? Would be really helpful
It would be so cool if you bought multiple of these and connected them to make a big trench run display
can’t wait for minifigure scale!
Ryan don't know if you see this, but I think it would be cool if they did a small imperial landing pad from endor as something like this and the dagobah set
Digging the colored solid background of the profile picture for your channel. Are you doing say green or yellow for the vlogs channel?
Edit: noticed the games channel is blue cool beans fam
They should have put a exclusive fig in there like a admiral tarkin for example cause of the "you may fire when ready" and luke literally blows him up
0:32 I think a good potential figure could've been Grand Moff Tarkin or someone
There could be more diorama sets. Lego your my only hope 🙏🏼
I am planning on getting the Lego ecto 1 soon and I would like to see you do a review for it
$60 for 665 pieces seems worth it for me, even without the minifigs. It's about 9 cents per piece, which is on par with many many other LEGO Star Wars sets (even the other ones without minifigs).
That brown pin at the back is killing my OCD 😳
This is the one out of the three I would get! Please get multiple of these and combine them so us poorer folk can see what that would be like!
Strongly agree with what you say about the target age group are in the middle aged and up who are relatively fine financially lol
ok, im just building this and I thought the lasers looked a bit of, it seems all the clear pieces have like a haze on them. I checked my other recent builds, they also have that haze. then I check some older builds, they dont have that... doesnt seems normal.
nice sets
Imagine another set to connect with this like the Thor set in infinity war which connects with the guardians ship
I wish this set was cheaper because it would be cool to do a really long display of these connected
If you don’t like the green lasers on vaders tie advanced I’m assuming you could put them in the turret on the wall aiming at the x-wing
Rlly good idea
All of these are gonna be great pick ups for the sealed collection. With consensus being they are overpriced I'm planning on keeping a few of each till 2030 and cashing in 😁
I know you’re not really one for displaying the sets differently from how Lego intended, but maybe a cool idea with the one TiEs lasers you don’t like; maybe put them in the turret cannons so it looks like it’s shooting
Here I am growing up with Star Wars and being 35!
with the TIE fighter connected to the wall, you put the clear piece on the wrong way, the pole bit goes into the wall
Can someone explain why one lock rod piece is gray and the other brown? The brown is slightly longer as well which I don’t understand
The helmets are also 60 bucks without any minifigs so i dont have a problem with this
I really want this set, but I'll definitely wait because it will drop in price. Plus I'll need the extra money to buy a case because this thing will hella be annoying to dust!
out of the 3 set, think im gonna pick the yoda hutt only
Considering how pessimistic you were with this set a couple of weeks ago, especially when the price was discovered, this review ended up quite positive :D I personally still like the set even if it seems expensive, but Lego NEVER set the price according to the piece count and the weight is quite ok for this price I believe. To me, as a original series collector, this (and also the Dagobah) set is a must have.
New profile picture cool
I would rather get this then a helmet set tho
I would like to see this set built like the new 2023 Bat Cave.
4:57 that was not a joke! That was a fact
A more iconic quote would have been: "Wat" - Darth Vader
The wings on the tie fighters stick out too far because they wanted to accommodate to fit the lasers
How do you think the Darth Vader Meditation Chamber set will display along the new Diorama Collection? The set has a very similar base, but the printed display stand is different. Do you think LEGO should re-release the set with consistent quote tiles? Maybe the quote could say "You have failed me for the last time, Admiral" - Darth Vader.
The tie fighter on the left WAS the first to be shot down, so maybe it works to have a weaker connection.
Lol
Are the lasers a new frosted green?
What's up with the blue stud on the clear stand for the x-wing
I never really cared about minifigs in my sets as long as I get the pilot for the vehicle I built so honestly absence of minifigs is far from being a problem to me. I can get your point but I never ever considered it.
where is the exhaust port?
I wonder how look it took to build them
It’s amazing they made it look so messy
That price is STEEP.
MandR. I think it would be really cool if you bought a few of these sets and modded them into one big trench with 2 sides.
I was going to ask MandR the same question, except to mod the fighters a bit bigger in size and a slightly longer trench
@@soda2k2 exactly
Cool
I think this set looks amazing but that price point is too high, I'm just going to wait for it to go on sale and buy it for $48
To me, none of these dioramas are worth the prices being asked.
But from the 3, this is the best looking one to me and the only one I'm more likely to be willing to buy at full price (I'll still look for a discount, though).
Dagobah training is better than worth the price.
But the worst diorama by far is the trash compactor. Don’t buy it it’s a waste.
@@DarrylEricksonemperors throne room is better.
the R2D2 dot is a micro fig
Hoping for some prequel dioramas
Turret could be better seeing weve have a flat spinning 2x2 before
I kind of wish that no one would buy these diorama sets so LEGO won’t keep charging more & more. Unfortunately, this one is growing on me & I’ll probably buy it if I catch it on sale down the road. Lol
Preordered all three. Original trilogy is worth it.
300k per year.. most of us at that age wish lol. Totally agree though that they are fishing for the big money. In doing it though they are also cutting out the middle aged who aren't rich too.
Bought it for 45 pounds on sale, pretty good deal
As someone who doesn’t care about mini figs that aspect doesn’t bother me. I just feel like a lot of value is lost in the base. I would rather have a thinner base that’s not as easily moved around that allows for more surface area and scale because of it. I don’t think anyones favorite part of the build will be the base.
Looks nice but a bit much. If I were interested in these at all but could only get one, I’d pitch a bit more and get either of the other two-more dynamic sets with figures.
This set is $80 in Canada.
Bell squad rise up
Byron!
Got it for 40 bucks at Walmart, I'm sad they only had one.
I didn't get why rods are in different colors. Does anyone have an explanation?
Probably because Lego lol
these little sub themes are great. but I wish there were a cheaper line. The 18+ line is rather expensive especially to collect them all. A collectable mini ship collection at this scale would be quite nice. similar to the brick master ships.
When does the republic fighter tank officially release?
