    Preferred the plug -in roses no need to power down install if light goes faulty.

    They should have overboard in the ceiling first with thin whiteboard or plasterboard, the colour of the ceiling is losing so much light as there's no reflection this would have made the job so much better

    Definitely greggs , not loop in . Once wired you can do all your testing and if you get a faulty fitting it's easily unplugged, the customer could unplug the lights if he has an issue or move the fitting if it's on chain without the need for a qualified person.

    I switched out my 5ft fluorescent battens for energizer LED drop in replacements and never looked back. One third the wattage and appear exactly the same brightness and colour. I wouldn’t switch for ages as the original LED versions were terrible. These days it’s hard to tell the difference. No longer am I waiting/hoping for the batten to ignite, waiting for it to get brighter. With LED it’s instant on, very nice.

    I will not change them to LED, just hoard them until I can buy them. I already have dozens of fluorescent lamps in my collection.

    Hi gaz what app are you using to measure the fittings up on ceiling with your phone? Could have done with it on Friday as my Stepps were to short n had to gestamate it measuring batton fittings 🤯

    • @efixx

      It’s the “measure app” built in to a light fitting

    Great vid and that's how i would have done it. Though i would have sprayed the underside of that mez floor white emulsion first. As for florescent lamps, good riddance to them , having spent 40 years in the industry cursing them (especially a box of 8ft x125w )

    Trying to get people to switch to Leds fast is going to cause so much e-waste. Also what about fluorescent Blacklights are they going to be banned as well.
    Because led ones look absolutely terrible.

      @@efixx I think that Fluorescent tubes and ballasts are garbage and have served their purpose and we need to move on, I am an electrician in the US, as you guys might know, we generally aren't the first to ban stuff out there! So we still have fluorescent tubes EVERYWHERE, and we make alot of money retrofitting the fixtures with line voltage LED tubes (bypassing the ballasts), customers everywhere (in commercial buldings) are moving on to LEDs, tons of money to be made in the retrofit action!

    Why is everyone promoting this led crap, it is such a harsh light and they look nothing like the nice old flourescent ones,they don’t have a nice startup or anything, and they cost more in the long run as when a old flourescent tube blew you just had to run down to screwfix and buy a new one for about 3 quid, or use a spare if you had one, but now when the led ones fail you have to rep,ace the whole fixture and the fixtures normally cost about 40 quid or more, it’s just stupid 😤

    • @MadSpacePig
      @MadSpacePig Рік тому +2

      Except LEDs take significantly longer to fail - and you are completely free to buy traditional fixtures and LED bulbs. Nobody is making you get the integrated ones if you don't want to.

    • @efixx
      @efixx  Рік тому +1

      The fittings here have a diffused light which is better than the bare tubes used previously.

      I quit reballasting fluorescents years ago. just too much fuss and material cost. I could do a reballast for $26US and new lamps for $4.00 each; or I could convert to direct wire LED for $10.00 a tube and half the time spent replacing the ballast. and LED tubes don't contain mercury.
