In my opinion, the MS-101 still remains the best recreation of an original synth Behringer has ever made. I myself own one of the first edition blue machines, which still has the initial "MS-101" printing on it, before its name was changed to "MS-1". The sound of this beauty is even more beautiful than the SH-101 ever was. - The sequencer, though, even for those that grew up experiencing the complete evolution of sequencers, is a true pain in the a$$. Press one wrong button, and everything you done before is entirely messed up. Only worse is sequencing on the RD-8, which even more often leads you to mess up everything you created before, and leaves you with nothing whatsoever. But on the RD-8, Behringer managed to provide the necessary upgrade(s) to change this for the better. This they still did not on the MS-101, which is a shame. On the MS-101, I truly prefer using the DAW as the sequencer, having it sequence the internal arpeggiator, most of the times. That way, the MS-101 is an unmatched beauty, a truest of true 1980s time capsule, which is also capable of doing the most rough and rugged post punk Sounds ever imaginable. I love that blue beauty like no other! PS: On my channel, there are dome travks I made using the MS-101. Enjoy. Like. Comment. Subscribe.
When using the sequencer on the SH-101, there are two buttons. One says Legato (to tie the notes) and the other says “rest”. If you hit that, it will advance the position of the sequencer without inputting a note.
Yes, it looks like they are only available used at this point. From what I read, it appears that it is due to a parts shortage, but I am not positive that is the only answer.
Well, you can actually save and load different patterns. So the short answer is yes. But I find the saving and loading to be a little clunky and it doesn’t always work perfectly. So therefore, I didn’t cover it. I know there was a firmware update, so I need to check that out and see if the performance is better.
This is the best video I've seen on the sequencer section of this synth. Thanks.
Thank you! Glad it helped. ;)
Excellent work. Learned some new tricks.
Great. Glad to hear

Absolutely!
Hi, nice vidéo. What fimware it was when you did it.
I believe I still had the original firmware, as I never updated it. I would need to double check.
Hi, thank you for the great video. Can you play muted notes on the sequencer of sH-101? Or only real notes?
Thanks for watching. Yes, you can put a rest (muted note) or tie notes if you want them longer than a single step.
@@ToddUrban how, please?

On the MS-1 (Behringer) there is also a hold/rest button. It’s in a different spot, but does the same thing.
1:01 - totally "Stranger Things" vibes 😂❤
Nice. That would be an accident but I’m not surprised
Very useful, thank you.
Of course! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel. 😃
Was Behringer Ms-1 discontinued?

I just bought a new one (red) from Sweetwater.
Nice! I didn’t know they were back in production. They are one of the best values!
Hi Todd. Nice series of vids. Is there a way to get this to play a pattern then after the last step it will play another pattern?

No pattern chaining with this sequencer.
