They should have simply copied the original, both on the sequencer and on the operation of the portamento. Also they should have added presets or done something to improve it, not just make a copy that is not as good as the original.

INCREDIBLE. Sounds amazing. I've searched for years for someone recreating this but also including the string part.

    • @Digiphex

Ben Coleman The string is a typical saw wave string but the key is the reverb which sounds a bit choral.

@@BenColemanUK I don't view my strings as accurate. The original pans left and right. I would use the TAL Uno vst and put Valhalla VST reverb on it and then use Ableton's Auto Pan for a more realistic result.

What are the most AFX settings (and/or presets) on the BigSky? I see you're using a Room* setting in this video. Sounds great! Seems like Room>Club is pretty close with the diffusion anywhere past 2 o'clock. (I checked the Echo Space preset, but that preset is originally Shimmer).

Great video. Question for you please. I'm going to buy a new monosynth, and I'm really thinking about buying this synth over others (other, being that are just analog modules, with no keys, only midi). I have other synths.. but I'm been around for the past month. After a year now, how is this synth been.. still holding up well? Any issues? Thank You for your time.. I appreciate it.. there is "a lot" out there to choose from!

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  4 роки тому

It is a quality synth but there are better ones that are more versatile, such as the Bass Station II that will make all the SH-101 type sounds and more and has presets, is duophonic, has aftertouch. If you can make the investment, the AFX Station (really just a Bass Station II) is bound to be a collector's item. Get one while they are still out there if you are going that route.

The MS-1 users manual does not include sufficient details on the functions and use of the keyboard on-board sequencer. I appreciate this sequencer, tutorial but I have found the MS-1 sequencer difficult to master. Please reply with a written step-by-step list of how to use the MS-1 sequencer. Please include every function and how to program it using the buttons on the MS-1, such as:
    - Recording patterns on MS-1, keyboard at step modes.
    - (Also how to use the Synth tool app, sequencer functions.)
    - How to save a pattern in a determined place. (and to the Synth tool.)
    - How to select a pattern with the MS-1 keys.
    - Everything else programable with the MS-1 sequencer.
    Thank you in advance!

There was a suggestion that instead of 64 patterns with 32 steps each, there would be a mode with 32 patterns of 64 steps each. I can't check if it's been implemented because my MS is with someone else at the moment.
I'd like an option of patterns with 128 steps, but I'm not sure there would be enough demand for that.

Joel Swensen not sure if it can do that but I’ve noticed if you manually change sequence pattern while it’s running it does not wait for the end of the pattern, so it changes pattern instantly. This seems less useful to me than at the end of the pattern as it’s very difficult to catch the correct moment to change patterns especially at high temps. Hey! Does anyone know if there's a way to quantize the triggering of another saved sequence whilst playing a previous one? That is, whilst you're playing one sequence, are you able to then choose another one that will play after the final step of the previous pattern has finished, instead of immediately when you trigger the pattern? The above description is how the TD-3 works and I wonder if there is a mode to do the same thing on the MS-101. This is with the intention of choosing between different patterns during live performance. Thanks!

I speak quite a bit of German and have been there many times. But this video is in English and so English will predominate. Should I pronounce timbre in French? I also speak French and I could do it but it would sound "wrong" to people.

Alot of bricks and mortar retailers are being pressured by Korg and Roland reps to not provide shelf space for the recent Behringer knock offs. Retailers have also increased the price point of Behringer synths so that they're not undercutting Roland products.
