Instead of running 2 hoses off the air silencer, you could simply put some filter material inside the small box that the air goes out where you worry about the noise, may have to change it now n then, but im sure it would do better than running more hose to another fixture
Yep, since day one is skimming perfectly and there's no need to keep adjusting. See how you find the noise of it. If it's going under the tank in stand, you can always add a silencer as I did.
@@reeferexplained8846 it will probably be a year before I get my tank but I am building a sump underneath in the stand. Getting a custom Sca 99g tank made
@Sherman's Heli Channel oh well done, sounds like a plan. It took me about 3 months as the tank was out of stock. Look into cycling the rock 3 months before the tank goes up, especially if using dry Rock. Will save you a tun of headaches with the ugly stage and stability.
Thanks for the video, great review. Looking for a skimmer for a 300 liter tank, low to medium bioload. Considering the deltec 400i and this maxspect - which one would you go with?
Hi This would depend the maxspect is a beast with duel pump, hose for drain, easy to use , controller simple and has the auto shut off float valve when cup is full. My ring maxspect is a 9 it would be 10 but is a little noisy than expected but with a silencer DIY then perfect 10. The deltec is small unit space saver with a small collection cup, really is so quiet can't hear the thing, pit falls hard to dial in with water level no instructions on the pump speeds what they mean, it has a overflow cut off if sump level gets to high. My opinion the maxspect it's amazing. Check other reviews
Now that it has been over a year can you tell me how your skimmer is doing? Any issues, anything you love about it? If you could change 1 thing what would it be?
Love the skimmer, no issues works well break in period quick, we'll built premium product. Not as quite as liked but with a DIY mod like silencer can barely hear it. Worth the purchase the deltec 400i was much quieter but hard to dial in water level.
Hi there, nice video! Wondering, do you need to buy the controller unit separately or does the full package come with the skimmer? Also, what’s your tank size and is this the 400 model?
So comes with controller and unit skimmer plus float switch all built into controller. My tank size is 69gal or 250 litre red sea e-260. Skimmer o er kill for tank but doing well.
@@林冠灏 So it will work but demands on bio load how many fish and feeding waste, also a new tank won't have much too skim out, for the protein skimmer to work correctly. I know this because before had the deltec 400i skimmer amazing and super quite however a pain to dial in Water level. Before only had 3 fish and doing water change every 8 days with changing filter or sicks out every 3 days. My skimmer was not processing much waste and bubbles in the body of deltec was just boiling little a kettle as no protein waste. Overall, the maxspect jump for its easy gate door adjustment, bigger collection cup. The deltec was smaller footprint and so quiet. I solved any noise issues with the jump just by adding the CO2 scrubber, damping the noise air intake, plus raised my pH, of course.
@@reeferexplained8846 hi Lee thanks for reply I notice you’ve bent the tube off the skimmer in the sump , what reason , also have you done a vid on Algi scrubber , what’s your ph at please , cheers Andrew . 🏴👍
@andrew5762 Hi, yes, the tube came away from the silencer housing. As the pins are weak and made no change on the performance. The ph meter [ Reeffactory] was reading 82 day time with a window open and 8.14 night. Then I added the Co2 scrubber and 8.42 day and 8.32 nights. @andrew5762 yep, once the media is exhausted, you can just order some new media 1000ml for around £13 may last two changes. Mine is lasting around 2 months in summer, maybe longer in the winter with most of the windows closed, maybe 4 weeks.

It's amazing skimmer just change the noise it's makes. Had to add a home made silncer as air being drawn in too noisey
Nice video. I just ordered one. I was originally going to get a curve 7 elite but got this instead for the adjustability and auto shutoff etc.
