This is genius!! Thanks for this video. I've watched many videos on how to silkscreen my cookies and all of them needed a lot of tools or had complicated steps to follow. Your technique is simple and yet very neat.

Hi Renee!! Thank you for your comment. Check my channel, there is now a video on how I make my screens.
Thank you for a great video! I wondered why youʻd take the trouble to make a screen print stencil instead of an acetate stencil but itʻs so much sharper and you can do so many in a short amount of time once youʻre setup. I have the courage to try after seeing your video! 8-) Thank you.
HMAUS Tips I’m so glad this video has encouraged you to give screenprinting a try!! Feel free to reach out and ask questions if you run into any problems!

Sugar Beez Thank you, I will!
Hi Di, did you successfully screen cookies?
Sugar Beez I haven’t yet. I have my clipboard and non slip. I need to do it. Now that things are opening back up I need to finish my cookies for Autism Awareness (which was April). I need to get a couple of sponges.
Sugar Beez I tried this method tonight. I just had one cookie to try it on. It worked great. I’ll be doing some happy birthday cookies later this week and I’m not afraid LOL. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

All the videos I’ve watched state to have the icing the consistency of toothpaste, but wow, I’ve not been able to stencil successfully using a silk screen at all, no matter the consistency. No idea what I’m doing wrong.
Great video!
Thank you Debra!
Please do make a video on how to make your screen stencil.
Would love.to know how you made the screen..Also does this still work with fine lines and writing?
Yes, it works very well with fine lines and lettering. I love the texture screen printing creates. Here is a link to how I make my stencils. ua-cam.com/video/G8SAmAKUyFo/v-deo.htmlsi=okpElC_PFG2IzM2k
Great video, would like to video for making the screen
How often do you clean the stencil if doing a lot of cookies? Thank you for the tutorial!!
kalei99 I will wipe the side of the stencil that touches the cookie, with a dry paper towel, if I notice the image isn’t completely clear. But I usually don’t have to clean it completely until I’m done screening all the cookies. I move quickly and make sure my icing is about the consistency of 20-second icing. Also, add a little piping gel to your icing, about 1 tsp per cup of icing, to keep it from drying to fast.
Could you also use this technique with airbrush machine??
Oh, definitely you can use an airbrush!
genius!!!
What consistency is your icing?
Hi Miranda, the icing I do the screen printing with is a soft peak consistency. Softer than piping consistency, but not even close to flood consistency. I hope that helps?
Hi Tracy. Thank you for the great video. I tried it on the weekend. My icing had a tiny bleed as well as some icing were spotty when I pulled the screen off. If I were to make the RI thinner to avoid the spots, then there would be more bleed and vice versa. So I wonder if something else I did wasn’t working. For example, is it possible that the extra screen on the bottom wasn’t long enough for me to pull so it created some bumps on the stencil (circle cookie) instead of having it lay flat. And is it also possible that the stencil design itself was hard to make a clean scrape (like the lines are too close together)? Or anything else? This video inspired me to the scraping method, so I want to learn to get better at it for next time! 😊
The blank spots, is that happening on the very first swipe? Makes me think the icing dried on the stencil. The consistency should have the DQ swirl…when you lift your spatula up out of the icing, the point should fall over like a DQ ice cream swirl.
@@sugarbeezllc No, it happened on each one, some less and some more. Yes, I think the icing clumped together on the stencil. I did thin it down and it was still doing the blank spots, but not as severe, and there was some bleeding too; so I can't thin it down further. Hence I wonder if the extra silkscreen around the design wasn't big enough for my cookie or maybe the design itself isn't working for the scraping method. Would you have further insight on this? Thanks.
@@julianawijoyo824Did you swipe off the icing before lifting the stencil? That helps force the icing through the stencil
@@sugarbeezllc yes, I swipe it many times in various directions
@@julianawijoyo824 email me at Tracy@sugarbeez.com and I’ll be happy to work this through with you!
Can I use a square of silk screen over a plastic/vinyl stencil in the same way?
Yes you can. It works really well If you have a stencil frame too!
yes please...how do we do the screen!

The screen gives a cleaner design than a stencil? How so? Does it diffuse the icing more?
I would love to know how to make screens.
Hi Vicki, great question! Yes, it is clearer than a stencil, and you don’t have those bridges that you have with stencils. It does diffuse the icing through a fine mesh screen, which gives is a beautiful finish.
@@sugarbeezllc Thank you!

Are premade screens for cookies available on the market?
Are there custom design services?
Can I make my own screen design and hire someone to make the screen for me?
Can screens be used in conjunction with stencils I already have?
I love your work, by the way!
@@vickikunetka1111 Yes, there are custom services. Check on etsy!
Can you do this method with an airbrush?
You can, you just need to make sure the stencil is tight to the cookie so you don't get underspray. Using a stencil frame might be best.
How do you make the actual screen ?
Tammy Brough I’m going to get a video up very soon on how to make the screens!
Please show us how you make the screen
So you reuse the icing on the scraper a few times, do you scrape the excess into a bowl? I find the icing on my scraper dries out and gets too thick to keep using.
I do scrape it into a bowl and give it a mix every once in a while.

How do you make screens
How did you make your screen please?
I'm new to screen printing cookies. I just tried your method and when I add my frosting then pull up my screen, a lot of the frosting comes up and doesn't stick well to my cookie. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Hi Leigh, sounds to me like your icing is too thick, needs to be thinned out a little bit more.

Hi Heide, thanks for watching! You can check out more on how I make my screens in this video ua-cam.com/video/G8SAmAKUyFo/v-deo.html Please reach out if you have any other questions!!
Great video. Why don't you just put your traced cookie stencil template on paper and tape it underneath the cookie, then place the cookie on top of the traced template like sweetest tiers does in their video for their stencil holder? Wouldn't that be easier to line up the cookie?
Sherrie, that is a great suggestion! I’ll have to try that.
Video please!!!
how do you make your screens??
Do you put the icing on the screen or the heat transfer part?
The heat transfer vinyl is pressed to the screen, and becomes a screen print stencil. They are fused together. You put that over the cookie and the icing on top of that. Hope that helps!
@@sugarbeezllc yes does very much also wondering when stenciling on the cookie do you put the transfer touching the cookie or the silk screen. Wondering if it made a difference, which way works best.
@@doriskelly1447 It doesn’t make a big difference. I boils down to preference. I have the screen side against the cookie.
So silk screen on front or back
PLEASE, waiting on your video for making the silk screen itself.
Butter cream icing or royal
It’s royal icing. I think buttercream would be too soft. You could probably airbrush on BC.
What kind of screen do you use? I tried to make a screen recently and I think I need a different kind of mesh
Rachel Moore This is the screen that I purchased to make my stencils. www.amazon.com/Yards-Silk-Screen-Printing-Fabric/dp/B06XGBDM61/ref=sr_1_9?crid=TPGQY0GRNSUX&keywords=110+mesh+silk+screen&qid=1578973451&sprefix=110+mesh%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-9.
My icing will not soak through the screen. I bought the kit from icing images... what am I doing wrong?
Terri Jennings Hi Terri, what kit do you mean? Your icing should be a soft peak consistency, not stiff. Stiff icing doesn’t work well and too thin will bleed under the screen.
My image comes out spotty almost like the holes ate to big in the scree but it's 110. What am I doing wrong
Hey Tameicsha! I’m here to help! Can you send me a picture of what your image looked like when you screened it? I’m thinking it’s the consistency of your icing, but I need to see the image to be certain.
@@sugarbeezllc awe darn I didn't take any pics but I am all set to start again tomorrow. I will upload some

Brilliant! Thank you for sharing!!
What consistency is your icing for this?
I call it a curly Q consistency. When I pull my spatula up out of the icing, it curls over like a DQ ice cream cone, if that makes sense. Or use the consistency you would for piping letters. You just don’t want the consistency to be too loose or it will get under your stencil. I hope this is helpful!
