Absolutely exactly the same! No longer have to clean out filters, having a drum. But clean the window almost every day! The algae is sometimes really stubborn so I use a sort of fine wire wool thing on a pole.
It ain't too much of a job though and it gives me a reason to go out there and mess around. Plus they look awesome when just cleaned 👌🏻
Windows! I hate the frigging things. Maybe a little one out of the way for checking fish is ok. But Koi in their various guises are meant to be, and are far better if viewed from above. IF? I ever get back into the hobby I would dig deep, (which by the way helps consistency of water temperature) and only raise a wall about a foot or so above ground level to keep the crap from running in.
I accept not all ground would allow that but if it did I’d highly recommend it.
Windows aside, I Like what you’ve done and admire the effort you’re putting in to keep your fish in good shape. Hats off. ✌️
I was always of the same view. If I had the land I would have an in ground natural pond but the footprint required is too much for this property to do it properly. Maybe in my next house never say never. I was never a fan of windows but fitted them as I didn't want regrets and can always clad over them if I don't like them. However I must say I am happy I fitted them. Fitted my heat pump today so temps are on the up. Thanks for watching Bud 👍🏻
Great job Dave all best for winter 👍
Thanks for watching Dave. Yeah got my heater on yesterday and it's awesome back up to 20 degrees today 💪🏻
Pond and fish looking cracking mate
Cheers Fella. Hope you're keeping well? 👍🏻
Nice one Dave, is that a new hobby.........smashing scopes up lol, naughty naughty, but get like that my self sometimes because of the stupid things I do, angry with myself, no one else lol. Pond & Koi looking lush bud. Have a great weekend. 👍🍺
Exactly! The reason I lost the head is because when I was cleaning the floor I thought to myself " Dave, you should put that scope away before you knock it over!" Then sure enough I did. So I was angry at me. Pond is getting there back up to 20 degrees today the heater is a beast 💪🏻
Looking great Dave. Try not to destroy your new scope this time. 😂
Nightmare! It was one of those situations where I told myself you should put that scope away before you knock it over! Then I did I think that's why I lost the head... more annoyed at myself 🤷🏼♂️
Haha you make me laugh. You basically finished off the microscope nicely then 🤣
Fish are looking good. The ochiba has really grown, and the chag, they all have but the ocbiba is really noticeable.
Yeah the ochiba is a monster grows like a weed... just got my heat pump plumbed in today so hopefully I can squeeze a bit more food in 👍🏻
@@dkoi-tv excellent. That's great
Nice one dave don't worry about fines just water Quality that counts fish and pond looks great like to know what heat source kit costs to run a week ??👍👍
I wouldn't have a clue on cost haha plumbed it in yesterday and we're back up to 20.. oh I know fines aren't a concern will be worse now I can up the feed 🤷🏼♂️
looking good🎉
Thank you 😊 Appreciate it 💪🏻

@@Kugadream55 appreciate it. 🙏
Looking great m8, trials and tribulations hey, its not allfun is it! I notice a few koi with redress, due to new pond syndrome? I'm going through the same with my indoor pool at the minute, scrapes clear but nitrite peaking but got a detoxifier in but still marking up. I have the same feeder, nice unit but the feeds seems too much, what do you think? Also filling is a bugger as food drops through so i hold the lid inderneath.
A couple of fish have had knocks. Just got over NPS also. My big sanke had jumped but she's on the mend. Had some right issues. The little feeder does 45 grams on 1 for me and thats fine with the koi I have. Parameters are all good here at last. In fairness the pond dropped 4 degrees is 2 days that is probably the cause of unhappy fish. Plumbed in heat exchanger today so that's sorted... Thanks for watching.
Once you have the heat pump installed how are you going to insulate and keep the heat in the pond? I'm just looking for ideas really.
Haha that I have no idea. I will probably give them a winter this year. Then put a roof on it and install removable sides for next winter. When I say a winter I will heat to around 10 degrees. The heat pump was installed today and we're at 19. Should be 20 by morning.
@@dkoi-tv I’m going for 18deg at the moment. The heat pump is running about 1-2 hours a day (on and off) with the ambient temp being about 16-18deg on average (ish) in Bawtry at the moment. I’m considering multi layer transparent bicarbonate sheets. I’m also considering kingspan to cover the window. Just considering minimising heat loss. Its all a consideration at the moment. Work in progress.
@@bawtrykoipond I have just upped mine to 21 this morning. It was a nice 20.5 when I got up. I want to try and extend the growing into November then start to back off. I wouldn't like to consider polycarbonate on this pond, would have to build a massive frame or something. What size is your window? I might have some Kingspan... Also what size is the pond I may also have some polycarb??
Pond and fish are looking fantastic mate 👌
Cheers Bud. Slowly getting there...
Ponds looking great and fish looking good 👌🏻. Can I ask what size are your windows and what thickness are they? Cheers. Keep the vids coming 👍🏻
2000 x 800 x 25mm 👍🏻 Thanks for watching 🙏
@@dkoi-tv Thanks. Is there any bowing in the glass with it being 25mm? I'm in the middle of a pond re-build and wanting a 1800 x 900 window but been told 25mm isn't thick enough and need 33mm?! Which is a lot more expensive 🤷♂️. Thanks
@cadkoipond1975 that's correct mate anything over 800 needs to be triple. I was advised the same. Itsbthe depth that dictates the thickness. No the glass doesn't bow 👍🏻
@@dkoi-tvThanks 👍🏻
