Thanks Chris, very thoughtful design. My dad passed in May of last year and after seeing your design I know building this for his flag for mom will be a a cathartic one and bring more closure for me I didn’t serve but as a woodworker this will be the most important piece I will craft. I just need to figure out how to incorporate the casings from his firing party at Arlington. Suggestions welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to recognize our SM's. Beautiful flag case! Just beautiful! Thank you for the inspiration! Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for all you do. As a retired soldier I believe more help is needed to conquer our enemies in our minds. Thanks for your videos, a distraction that helps deal with life.
Chris as a veteran who has suffered the darker demons I want to thank you for everything you do. I’ve been following you for a while and love your work and this flag case was one of my most favorite!!! Thank you.
I echo those sentiments! While I was on active duty, I met several soldiers, who had enlisted "for the college money." Needless to say, if that is the ONLY reason they joined, well, I don't have much compassion for them. For those of us, who served because we love and respect our country, as well as those who live in it, even 20 years after my discharge, I would still give my life to defend them! Thanks for keeping my brother and sister Veterans in your thoughts and prayers!
So glad I found your channel. I am about to make one of these memorial display boxes for a friend of mine and I will be using your tips. Also was impressed with your miter saw angle set-up jig. I will be adding that to my project list. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you Chris for honoring our veterans. After having served for 22 years in the Air Force and serving in two wars (Vietnam and Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I really appreciate the little things in life now. I very much appreciate your drawing attention to the darker side of veterans suicide. Many don't even know the real numbers. One of the things we constantly address in my motorcycle club (Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association - CVMA) is that many veterans don't know who to reach out to and just simply need someone to listen. Thanks again for all you do. You are a true patriot.
Hello Chris! Thank you for this video. My dad passed away a few days ago at the age of 90. He served in the Navy, on a PBY, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Saipan. We will have a military funeral for him and I wanted to build a shadow box to display his flag, ribbons and medals. Your box is the perfect model. It just happens that I cut down a cherry tree for a friend several years ago. I had the wood slabbed and it has been stacked and stored for several years. I haven't found a project that I really wanted use it on until now. Thanks again, and God bless all you vets out there! Thank you!
I echo all of the sentiments that has been spoken. I appreciate you and thank you for your service. Being a retired vet myself, I understand your journey. God Bless and keep making beautiful projects like this. When you do this, you continue to serve my brother. Blessings.
My Cousin died of a heart attack in August. He was a veteran and he had just turned 50. I have been looking for this very thing for his flag and his medals. It is perfect. I actually have some nice cherry to use for the project. Thank you very much for you instructions. I’ll send you a picture of the completed project.
I love your design and memorial box. I have been searching for a design I would use for my father’s flag but now I can incorporate his medals along with his funeral flag. Thanks!!
This is by far the best made Flag holder with the picture to show who the flag was for ,I'm very interested in making my wife one as she justost her day and on Tuesday they will be giving her the flag and this would be awesome to hold it in with his pic ,her birthday is today and taking it hard as he just had his last month December 8th and told her it would be his last birthday, she didn't believe him and now he is gone
Chris do you cut the side same length or the left and right sides same as the flag size , asking cause if i cut same size then flag would be lose if cut same size as flag folded is different size on both sides thanks
You did a very nice job. I have to make one for my father's flag who passed away in October of last year. Thank you for the video and ideas in making it.
How did you get that 22.5-degree angle on the miter saw? I was going to achieve this with a vertical cut using a table saw, but mine is currently down and I haven't seen it achieved using a miter saw before. Can you explain it for me?
Chris, I am a veteran and so was my mom. I am new to woodworking, but I would like to try and build a memorial flag display box for my mother. Are you selling or posted the plans for this build?
Salute to ALL of our VETERANS and you for sharing. Thank you
Thank you

When I was in a few years ago. After the 21 gun salute, we put 3 of them in the flag at the end of folding it.

Possible to get the measurements? Came out looking beautiful
Very nice work and great video!
Thank you!
Will you please tell me where you obtained the plans for the chop saw table to get the accurate angles?
Awesome and Thank you.
Great video and a beautiful flag display case. Do you have a video that shows your angle cutting jig(s)? Thanks!
Great job!
you were just on the podcast i listen to all the time what a great video! thanks @becausewemake for turning me on to you!
Awesome. Thank you!

Going to try this . What kind of oil is that ?
Where did you get that miter saw station idea from, I like that.
Check out diy creators. He did a video on it a few weeks ago. It was a huge improvement.
Do you have a video where you made your mitre saw table/fence?
Not that exact one. It was a project from diy creators. I did one on my whole miter saw station, which has similar features, but is larger.
nice job
Possibly is there plans available!!
Do you have plans available for the Flag Display Case?
I don’t, but I think I’ll try to put some together for it. A few people have asked. I’ll see what I can do.
Do you sell your shadow boxes?
Is there possibly a set of plans for the flag and metal display case available.
Sorry I don’t have any plans for this.
Question how did you mount medals and ribbons to display board. Thanks
Chris, I am a veteran and so was my mom. I am new to woodworking, but I would like to try and build a memorial flag display box for my mother. Are you selling or posted the plans for this build?
I don’t have any plans for it, but I can see if I can come up with something.
@@ChrisPowellFSD Thank you so much. it loos great.
How did you attach the ribbons and medals to the plywood?
I just pushed them into the wood.
@@ChrisPowellFSD THANK YOU for your time.
Coast Guard veteran here. Thank you for this recognition. BTW, is your chop saw table modeled after youtuber DIY?
Yes it is. Best thing I’ve done to it.
@@ChrisPowellFSD love that guy. It is on the list for me. DIY creator, I think
Yea that’s it. He’s got a bunch of great videos. So glad he did one on this miter saw table.
Bravo Zulu brother.
Ron Swanson would be proud.
