You're a damn good interviewer Ari. Cross grabbed his phone and partially stood up about to leave but you kept him talking and stayed another 45 minutes lol Well done! Great episode
I’ve been around the world and my favorite place so far… has been Istanbul. The food and night life is like no other place on earth. Cheap good drugs, amazing clubs, you can feel safe walking home to your hotel at 4am, but beware of the call to prayer, it startles you the first time 😂, stay away from the tourist traps as in any major city. Research the scams, you will be fine. Don’t let anyone light your cigarette, shine your shoes, and watch out for taxi drivers giving you the wrong change or fake bills, get a price up front and pay with exact change or card. Absolutely lovely place, also, go to Istanbul, but visit a few other cities, because Turkey has everything, ocean, mountains, elevation, islands, Europeans, Greek shit, and even terrorists in the south. Truly amazing place with something for everyone
@@mattski2920 do you like going out to night clubs? Phoenix. Have a dark streak in you, take a stroll past the Saudi embassy. Like to take photos? Take an early morning stroll through neighborhoods you don’t visit, walk down to the bosphorous and get some amazing night and dawn photos. Get out and explore, watch as many videos on scams and make it a game to not get taken. Do what the tourists don’t. Wander, visit both sides of the Bosphorus Europe and Asian. Take a day trip outside of Istanbul if you can. Oh crap, I assumed Istanbul. If you’re not in Istanbul check out ruins, take a boat trip on the archipelago. Visit the mountains and swim in the sea. Eat as much local food as possible, and if you are not used to eating Turkish food, fast for twelve hours hours first; the you will love anything you eat 😂. Just don’t waste your time with too many things that tourists do. Create your own adventure and be spontaneous
Dude I loved the rant at the end, it's not a bad idea at all. This is really educational and fun, I absolutely LOVE hearing about the random experiences that sometimes happen due to a simple wrong turn or just by happenstance, yet you ended up having an amazing experience you'll never forget, like David Cross just luckily meets two cool guys with damn good acid in fucking Turkey of all places! The odds of that happening must be astronomical 😂✌️🍄💚

Another solid episode in the bag. Turkey is definitely on my bucket list so it was cool to hear a bit more about it. You make me look forward to Monday mornings Ari, thanks for doing this.
Omg I’ve loved David cross from the Mr show days!!! I love seeing him back around so much, but seeing him with one of my OTHER favorites?????? Ugh! What a wonderful episode. Once I saw David Cross and Michael Cera and a dog at a bar and I acted like a literal freak and just stared. I was wasted but so excited to see (in person) the guy I’ve spent so much of my life watching 😂
I've spent 10+ years traveling in and out of the country. David got lucky cause the shady bars usually lead to you pulling money out of an ATM with two large violence-prone bar staff waiting behind you. Not so much nowadays, just don't follow anyone to a hidden bar. If a place is full; restaurant, bar, or cafe, its probably good. The people are friendly and welcoming but any kind of humor escapes them. There is a huge difference between the tourist experience and the local experience. For a good local experience, go to a college neighborhood and find a park or seaside nearby. There will be tons of students hanging out who would be willing to share a bottle. Also, you have to look real hard to find dangerous neighborhoods, but they exist in the bigger cities. Most villages have something unique to check out, or at least for good meal.
I'd love to be your humble traveler. Thanks for all the insight and laughter. No wife, no kids, no social media. Just an old school bartender who wants to learn, enjoy and share.Thanks.
Let me explain the Wayfare thing because neither guest or host seemed to know the origin. People were freaking out because there were kids toys for sale at outrageous prices, for example a simple wooden toy chest for sale that was priced at $14,000. There was a cabinet with a rocket painted on it for $19,800, etc. This correctly rose suspicions because these items would normally be $60-$150 dollars and they were children items for tens of thousands. So what was going on? Here’s what happened. Due to a crumby backend, if you were a seller using wayfare, and your inventory went down to zero. Wayfare would delete that sellers page so no more of the item could be sold. This wasted sellers time rebuilding each page from scratch when inventory went to zero. So the work around was to set it to notify seller when inventory was 2 or less and auto-increase the price to an insane number so the page wouldn’t vanish, then when they got more inventory they would put the price back to normal and not have to rebuild that product page. So people were rightfully bewildered and making theories about what on earth could be going on when a children’s toy cabinet costs $14,000. It wasn’t the black market selling people in plain sight, it was a crappy workaround to a bad backend system. They’ve since fixed this to stop freaking people out.
